  1. As you've already lunched one engine, I'd suggest that a full-width intercooler wouldn't have been the most sensible way forward. £35 plus a bit for overseas shipping is not a lot of money, so I don't see the problem with it. But then, what why make life easy.
  2. Mine usually revolve around saying that the latest part I've bought only cost £50 or so... It doesn't always work, and the guilt is terrible.
  3. I'm mildly surprised this would have done any damage. A quick flick of the starter whilst in-gear and it's knackered? Hell's teeth!! Two things: 1. The dealer was honest with you. Great for that to happen, but you'd have thought they might want to establish a few facts before potentially losing the sale. 2. If it is damaged expensively - new gearbox - what on earth does that say about the quality of the product? Will this seemingly innocent, yet easily-done mistake be placed in the owners manual as a caution? Anyway, if I were in your shoes, I'd get a new one too.
  4. Sorry to hear that. A sad day indeed. What will happen now? Refund / exchange? On a related note, a friend of mine (and JSG's) is having problems with his '07 110. The engine revs carry on for a second-or-so with each lift of the throttle. The dealer has had it for almost 2 weeks now, although this isn't the first time it's been back. He's very unhappy, frustrated and missing his 110 like mad. Even Disco 3 or Jag XJ loan cars haven't helped. I really hope you find satisfaction with the LR brand in whatever happens after this.
  5. We DO!!!! Even my 5 year-old son waves enthusiastically from the back seat. And pity the miserable sod in a black-ish 110 near the Madjeski Stadium on Saturday who ignored him as we inched past in traffic.
  6. Same here!! And, as said initially, even the wife's started doing it. But then, she used to drive a 1978 Mini and they did the same thing.
  7. Christopher Cockerell. Frank Whittle. The First Overland Team. Spen King. David Bache. Harley J Earl. Gy Waldron. Amongst many more...
  8. Should my rear crossmember ever need replacing , I think Les has just unknowingly volunteered for the job.
  9. Oooh!! Me, me, me, me, me, me. Pleeeeease!!!
  10. I try and grease my props once a month as a preventative maintenance procedure. Assuming I can get the bloody grease gun to work properly.
  11. Our now-8 year-old E-Class isn't cheap to service at our local specialist either, but that's the deal if one wishes to buy such cars. I think it's worth it, though. The money I've saved in depreciation easily outweighs the servicing costs and it's one of the few cars we've owned (along with my 110) that still feels special each time you get behind the wheel. We've toyed with replacing the E-Class with another LR, but just cannot find anything that matches her combination of versatility, comfort, build-quality and dependability. They're massive mile-eaters too. I've never used a dealer, apart from buying some Merc floor mats. That experience alone made me feel inferior and I vowed never to return.
  12. Try Mantec direct. Or wait until one of the shows and see if they have any offers there.
  13. Maybe not strictly an additive, but veg oil works well. And, every 6 months, a bottle of Wynn's Injector Cleaner emptied into a full tank.
  14. Very, very sad, Mo. Good call!! I'll have a few.
  15. May I add Turner Engineering to the list please? And also Dingocroft in High Wycombe for parts. Both are excellent, in my experience.
  16. Watch out for the 200Tdi's. New heads and injectors are no longer available. My point is that you'll have to look after the engine more to avoid any problems with non-available parts. The 300Tdi's still have new parts available and are quieter.
  17. Plenty of water to loosen it. Soak the poo well and it should, mostly, wash off with a sponge / cloth / hose. Bird poo is highly acidic, so time spent on the paintwork will attack the laquer / wax / finish, so be sure to keep the paintwork protected with your favourite brand of polish. Also, the cleaner the paintwork (by this, I mean lowering the surface friction by liberal application of the shiny stuff), the easier it is to remove the poo / dirt / detritus. Never pick at the poo with your finger nail as this will create tiny scratches in the paintwork, unless you're VERY careful.
  18. And anyone saying truck, rig, etc should have the words auto-corrected. Nothing personal, but Land Rover is far, far better.
  19. I'd agree that the Defender certainly is beautiful, especially when it's a 110 and even more especially when it's mine. But they've missed the '68-'70 Dodge Charger off the list. I assume, therefore, that this is a mistake and not deliberate.
  20. No, Jim. It wasn't me. I don't know who the person is / people are.
  21. I remember a few threads on this forum where it was stated quite clearly that LR4x4 didn't tolerate issues with other forums, yet here you are openly, and without correction, doing just that. The spelling over here, Landi and Jim, is the same on here as anywhere else for what I would believe are the same reasons. Shame on the both of you! I would suggest that you two, especially, have had your fun and request that you leave it at that, or take your petty childishness to PM's. I honestly thought LR4x4 was better than this.
