  1. My 300Tdi 110 CSW has always been pretty quiet, but in the last week I've had an Ashcroft T-box fitted with Disco ratios and it's made a massive difference to noise levels. I guess you could source a good used Disco 'box for about £100.
  2. Yep, I've been there. This is the view from inside the tunnel... We had excellent guides!
  3. Those are very familiar places to me. A certain overland company uses the exact same ones regularly...
  4. That'll be useful. I'd appreciate any feedback to pass on. Many thanks for your help!
  5. Can anyone point specifically to where in the GTR this bulletin is, please? A friend needs this reference quickly to try and clear up a long-running warranty dispute on his '07 110. Any help GREATLY appreciated!!
  6. Brand-new Midland units have, allegedly, deteriorated in quality since their halcion days and now suffer from many faults and returns. On this advice (Dunk at Shortwave Radio 01202 490099), I bought an Imtek M790 Plus, but the basic M110 is just as good.
  7. I fitted mine too, but it took me a bit longer. Although I did waxoyl the rear door insides and cleaned a few more bits that still had dirt on them... Very pleased with it and very straightforward to fit! Even for a chimp...
  8. The pressure plate clutch springs failed on my old Valeo clutch. Plate was fine apart from that with plenty of wear left in it. It all got changed as a precaution before a big trip, so wouldn't have got done otherwise. A Valeo 130 plate has gone in to replace it which seems OK. However, the gearboxes may be coming out soon, so we'll see how this thread develops and possibly change the plate again for a different make.
  9. I'll photograph mine if you want, chap. Not that my 110 is a patch on your wonderful machine.
  10. Will, Simonb is the chap you need for the dash LED's. I bought mine from him about a year ago and they're excellent!
  11. Mantec's hinges have poly-whatsit sleeves in them, so don't need greasing. Well, that's what they told me.
  12. JSG and I bought a Mantec one each at Billing and got them for £210 each as a joint purchase. I wouldn't have felt as happy buying any other wheel carrier, to be honest. Haven't fitted either of them yet, so can't comment on using them. However, if they're good enough for the G4 vehicles...
  13. I've just put 130 rear springs and dampers into my 110 CSW and removed the Boge unit. The aim was to stop the rear sagging under load, which it was doing previously on the standard setup. Tired Boge unit, I suspect. I initially removed the ARB, but found the handling a little too roly-poly, despite the much stiffer rear springs. On good advice, I replaced the rear ARB and the handling is MUCH better. The ride height on the new springs is a little higher at the back, but not by much. It's certainly bouncier, but I can live with that. We all trundled, fully-loaded to the Alps last week for 6 days of laning and the new springs really proved themselves to be worth the effort and modest £50 they cost from Dunsfold. For serious off-road use, I might be tempted to remove the ARB to stop it flipping, but so far the axle articulation she has done hasn't given any problems.
  14. A friend of mine went to the Alps last week with us in his '07 110. Here's a few shots of his in the mountains...
  15. Not as many people there as last year - or so it seemed. Some of the stands appeared smaller than before. OEC had very little stock, meaning that my new steering damper was bought from Devon 4x4. Still, no hardship there. We spent 3 days at Billing and still didn't see everything as well as we'd have liked. We had a really great time, though. Helped, in no small means, by a few good friends camping with us. I blame JSG for schmoozing me into buying a Mantec spare wheel carrier...
  16. And this thread is different eh? And it's being discussed TWICE! Talk about 'if it ain't broke, fix it until it is'...
  17. Les should have a few on the shelf. He did last week. My 110's just had this job done and it all works fine. Although the old pressure plate was OK, the springs were shot. It was a Valeo (OE) plate. In the words of my tame mechanic, 'just about good enough as a frisbee...'
  18. Money well-spent Santiago! Speak to Jon Norman at Brunel. He really knows his stuff and will be totally straight with you.
  19. Another vote for Brunel. And they'll fit it at Billing for free. Allisport won't do any fitting there at all. Alisport tend to push their full-width intercooler more, which isn't necessarily the best approach, other than for their benefit. Brunel are far more considered and give you the facts. They prefer to point out the good and the bad of each option to you. At least, that was my experience.
  20. I agree with Mark. Richard gave me some great advice and was completely honest with me. Their service is bang on and the quality of their product is faultless.
  21. The extra parts are required and are vital to getting the handbrake to operate correctly. They take about 10 minutes to fit.
  22. Why not drill a hole? It's what I did. Painful, but if it's for keeps then why not? Better reception and a more 'factory' job too.
  23. Brunel intercooler, fuelling tweaks and a ported Turner head on my 300Tdi. One less exhaust box and a non-standard air filter. And an electric fan. The last three just improve the throttle response. Very seriously considering propane injection. I came across a thread to move the wastegate sensing pipe on Difflock yesterday and followed it through to the following: http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php?t=24024
  24. I retained my centre seat for 2 years and it proved useful for placing maps and the odd packet of sweeties. I don't have a lot of gubbins in my 110, but now I need a CB for an upcoming trip I bought an MSS Store Caddy to put it in. Very pleased I did it, too.
