  1. Hi Aragorn, Not quite right as we are not talking about a sealed pressure container, we are actually talking about one with an almighty hole at one end and several restrictions in between, As you measure the positive pressure all along the inlet system you do see quite a few differences, some small, some large, If you have a very small plenum chamber you can even measure quite heavy pulsing of this pressure as the valves open etc, especially with V twin engines because of their un-equal firing strokes! But you will see the "flow" moving toward that low pressure area to try to compensate! The turbo will probably eventually speed up enough to compensate but if you are on the efficiency limit of the turbo, it may not, or at least it may be very slow to do so. Lara, P.S. Racing formulas running petrol / diesel etc usually prohibit the use of power boosters, and or alcohol etc injected as a fuel, although Drag cars do have classes for almost all fuels. although you would get little benefit with water injection on a Methanol burner due to the massive latent heat of vaporisation of methanol causing the inlet temp to be extremely low, probably too low to vaporise the water well enough.
  2. Hi Cret, Simple answer, Go for it! Try it and experiment, but probably best benefit will be in the 1.3 Bar + range as your inlet temp will be substantial. A lot of explanations why things do and do not work have been mulled over on this thread but. The reason any theory does not stand up to practice is because it is wrong! We all know that an efficient inter-cooler adds power even at the cost of lower boost, when theorizing, often we forget that nothing ever stays the same, (we rarely change only one thing without affecting something else) i.e. If we lower the inlet pressure anywhere in the system, The turbo will speed up and more FLOW will occur as the higher pressure air will flow towards the lower pressure faster as there is now a higher pressure differential than before* (remember our turbo wastegate is only pressure sensitive) *(unless the turbo is at it's limit or something is restricting the flow) This is just one reason for some theories to be in error. This knock on effect will go on "add-infinitum" and it not only makes it very hard to calculate and theorize it makes it extremely hard to explain It is very hard to account for everything and there are so many variables, and so many estimates that make things extra difficult, i.e inlet temps, how do we know what this is going to be outside the lab? we have to estimate and test! we can calculate our "Y" values etc but as these depend on initial ambient temp, and as this changes every second in England, what do we do? Go and test! Have fun! and learn in real life! more useful, more educational and a hell of a lot more interesting!! and while you are at it, mix a bit of Methanol in with the water and test that!! Lara P.S. This post is not in any way meant as a criticism of anyone else's posts!
  3. I think it is a nice looking watch! I would pay 80 quid for a good looking watch for work etc and an interesting Camel one has got to be a steal at that price! Lara
  4. what chalenges do you do that only use 2.5 Gal ??? We normally use about half a tank! 5gal Lara
  5. Go buy some "K" nuts http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/index.php?cPath=191 All modern race and rally cars use them for everything! Will not come loose on exhausts either!! Lara
  6. Hi Chris, Simply put, changing from a 1.4 to a 1.2:1 transfer box will adversely affect your acceleration from standstill, it is only a real benefit for motorway cruising etc without a trailer. Lara
  7. Hi Les, I would just bite the bullet and cut off the misaligned brackets, You know in your heart that this is the Best answer I am sure anyone with a plasma could do it for you in minutes! That way all parts are interchangeable in future etc and easily repaired in the field! It is a **** and we have all done it, but we have all also kicked ourselves for not doing the repair the sensible way instead of the "easy" way. Good luck. Lara.
  8. No real advantage or disadvantage other than ease of construction, and or if you need to replace a rim or change the offset, you only need to buy a new part rather than a complete wheel. however they are usually more expensive than non split rims so this has little advantage! Lara
  9. It is just truly addictive stuff to look at!!!!!!! Fantastic quality! Lara
  10. Hi Dolly. I believe it is a 6.0L - 500,horse Iron block with Ally heads. Told by the boys in the states that an awful lot of ally motors have no bell housing flange any more (if you know what i mean ) Lara
  11. Very nice build!! If the air pipe is the only criticism then it is going to be DAMN good!!!!!!! Lucky Tim
  12. Membrane is standard TD5 if you need a new one. Lara
  13. Understand your point, But as follows, 1. Sharp edges and gaps in bodywork, Hazardous to pedestrians etc, I got pulled 20 years or so ago for just that offense! 2. Headlights obscured by bodywork, 3. Bonnet / bodywork not secured safely, (can you imagine that staying on at 60mph let alone 100+) 4. Possibly side exit exhaust on passenger / footpath side, Not sure of legality of this, (also for 90's etc) 5. Vauxhall steering wheel, How friggin dangerous is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lara
  14. after a bit of searching I have found the following LS7 fully trimmed @ 208kg and RR 4.2 Supercharged at 193kg fully trimmed, Not much in it weight wise, But am sure Power wise ;o) 505 as opposed to JE's 460, Although I am sure 460 is enough ;o) Lara
  15. Well, If I have one it will be in Tomb Raider colours, An external cage. Have a 2 inch lift, 35 inch Mickey Thompson tyres, and a Winch etc, And will get used for long distance fun! You are the customer and that is the whole point!!! And believe me, I haven't had so much fun in a modern car ever!!!!! Lara
  16. Don't forget the part about adding 80kg to the weight also though Will, that 4.2 is a very light lump in comparison Lara
  17. I have been lucky enough to test drive this beastie and can only comment as follows. The vehicle pictured was built for a foreign gentleman who specified things like bumper and side exhausts him self, personal choice. Driving! Well i have driven fast cars before and to be honest very frequently been disappointed, The ZULU is quite the opposite! I expected a fast Landrover (and have converted and driven a few Chevy V8 90s in my time) but still a Landrover, What I test drove was FAR FAR FAR too good to be called a Landrover! It is to the standard of a good BMW I assure you! It goes Very well, but with 460bhp you expect that! But it emergency stops in a straight line from 60mph with your hands off of the wheel, and it stops like a modern "large" sports car!!!! It handles like "well, like and old 8 valve integrale" Floor it half way round a roundabout and it just squats slightly and whooomph! off it goes, exactly where you point it! And VERY quickly indeed!!! This is chipped Sierra Cosworth fast!!! The gear shift is perfect, smooth and gentle, You feel the shifts, but only just! Driving comfort. gone is the big body roll, it still has a slight roll, but only like a normal family saloon! Gone are the rattles and noisy interior, and that was WITHOUT any extra sound insulation mats etc. In short, the whole package was to the highest level and for 34,000 you are not making anyone rich I can assure you!!! Anyone not agreeing should try making a vehicle to the standards above and offer it as a salable item! Look under the bonnet, (the blue hoses were again "customer specified") and you will see that every detail is to the highest "factory" spec, and hence my comments about it being too good to call a Landrover First rate vehicle that makes the likes of Overfinch look like armatures! Lara.
  18. During my engineering apprenticeship I was happily working on one of the lathes and a colleague in front of me on another machine, He was cutting a nice internal screw thread and was touting it's perfection, While the machine was still turning he decided to check it with his finger, Needless to say that it "was" a very good screw thread and it did exactly what it was meant to do, and screwed his finger in, Ripping it off at the knuckle NOT a nice sight but it is a lesson that teaches you VERY quickly to respect machinery to the highest order!!! Lara
  19. I reckon it's a great start for a full porting job!!! Go for it with a vengeance Lara
  20. Had my 2556v fitted on mine for about 2 1/2 years now and still going strong. Just building one for Ced's new buggy but with the "next gen" exhaust manifold. As we have more place to fit it we can play a little more Lara
  21. Not bitterness, Just find it so un-real that it only stands as laughable! I think some people do not live on this planet! I have a friend rather high up in a very large bank in Holland, this bank has just made record non-profits (not loss but much reduced profit) and as such they (the board) have decided to ask all employees etc to take wage fixes and reduced benefits etc. so Said person as an example decided not to do his 2 week skiing holls, but booked a friggin island in the Caribbean instead! then to add insult to injury he just ordered himself a new top of the line Audi Q7 as company car to replace his "old" 2 year old BMW (he says it will save money on the lease, but even if that is true, I bet the poor employees don't see it that way) As i said, Nother Planet Lara
  22. I have this setup on my HP24e Illuminated button on the dash to lock TC at any speed in any gear, automatically un-locks when you shift to another gear or if the engine goes bellow pre-set parameters. ie 3kph in low box 20kph in high box, certain rpm/speed thresholds etc. Very useful for cruising conditions and off road. Lara
  23. Let me edit that with facts! On the "they always catch up with you" front, my dad works in the courts and reports that there is a real spirit of sharing these days, so if anyone takes you to court and win, then all the other govt agencies basically jump in and go through every single part of your life. Then give you unprecedented handfuls of money to fill the directors pockets, and so you can carry on selfishly ripping off the people who are paying you and actually are your "real" bosses. They often use it with banks for example - they'll watch them stiff the public and when the verdict arrives that they have been totally callous and irresponsible, lots of nice men in uniform come with a big steel plated van and bring you knew Wads of Public Cash to carry on going on corporate hollidays with. Oh! my mistake I think that applies "ONLY" to banks Lara
