Id love to see how people are running hydraulic pumps JUST FOR STEERING off a rover V8 I realise there are many ways of connecting a hydraulic pump, belt/chain/prop etc but what i would like to know is how much power you would need for dry steering large (35-40inch) tyres and whether a Veebelt on a rover v8 could transfer enough energy without slipping (even when wet)

The current mountings are roughly an inch below the axle centre line, however fabricating new mounts isn't a problem and would have to be changed if i was to use a radius arm set up. How much is "a lot" of vertical separation? 10 inchs? Ive been thinking all morning, squat and dive could potentially be very dangerous. Ideally you'd have no dive at all, and only a small amount of squat. Im not sure how easy that is to achieve tho, hence me asking! Why are large bushings undesirable? If i were to use radius arms, what angle should i set my diff pinion at? I have some people point at almost 35 degrees, whereas I was always under the impression that the diff flange and transfer box outputs should be parallel. (i haven't even started asking about panhards yet!

Questions: I am building a challenge vehicle, I have the options of rear radius arms using D2 front radius arms. Or a 3 link with panard using D2 front radius arms with the end chopped as lower links and I'm unsure of how long the 3rd link should be or how much lower to upper separation at the chassis end is needed. I have thought I could have radius arms for speed events and 3link for more challenging events. The mounts are the same just swap out some links. Reason behind discovery 2 links is they're cheap and strong, they also allow huge flex due to there bushes. I will be running d2 radius arms on the front too. Vehicle will have a wheelbase of 110

Its Matt Lee, owner of Matt Lee MACH 5's that build these axles. I think there is only one in existence on the back of his Tornado. Tornado Motorsport is owned by his cousin, Dave Billings.- 292 replies

To add to Muddy's list, you should check all the bushes for excessive wear.

Two bolts, per side, four in total

i could have sworn D1 bumpers are held on with 2 bolts per side (two bolts on the end of each dumbiron/chassis leg) Take a picture of what you mean!

If you chaps are serious, I'm sure there are two "good ones", let me get them out the shed and check. If you organised collection, you could have one for a forum donation hows that? -

BOOM, made a very silly mistake!!

Connected via a DB37 cable. The DB9 cable you can see is for computer to Megasquirt
-
RIGHT! I now have everything fully soldered and even installed into the case. Brilliant. Plug in Stim... no lights on Megasquirt Thats the DB9 cable awaiting to be plugged into the PC Is there something im missing?!
-
Right, I have everything soldered except the TIP122 Looking forward to getting that and see it running! Best start looking at MSA spec cages and start a build thread!

Thank God for that! Cheers fridge!!
