  1. Your right, the answer infact stares you in the face next to the scrapped box
  2. Ive got range rover, discovery and lada seat belts... got a big box of them!
  3. When fitting my special tracks the bead pretty much disintegrated! They hold air still luckily altho ive currently only done about 4 miles in.. 4 months.. Im running them at about 10psi aswell, otherwise they just don't flex at all!
  4. If memory serves me correctly the bulbs all run off the same 12volt supply? (correct me if im wrong!) Thus if you cut the main feed wire that takes power to the LEDs then solder in a standard 12volt variable resister you will have a dimming function. You will see most variable resisters have 3 pin, you will only use 2 of them.
  5. Why buy a normal laptop and a cheap inverter? Does it HAVE to be touch-screen? Also have you looked at smartphones? Im pretty sure i could make my nokia n900 run tunestudio with a little scripting.. you can even overclock a n900 to run at 1gHz stable!
  6. Hes right... the first video is a camel gnawing its own leg off.. Oh.. and go REALLY slow with your camel cut, measure 5+ times. If you cut to much off it looks awful. Ask me how i know!
  7. take off your viscous fan and fan shroud, engine mountings, gearbox mountings, propshafts and exhaust and slide the entire thing forward 5inchs. (there is enough slack in almost all pipes accept top rad pipe) You should then be able to get at the bolts. (also this is useful when putting a new clutch in because once the engine is free of the gearbox you can slide the gearbox back into its place and there's enough room to put a new clutch in) Its a long solution to a small problem i know, but when your working alone and don't have all the rights tools etc it can be really useful.
  8. Does anyone know what the ID of the fuel pipe is on a 200tdi discovery? and also roughly how much fuel pipe is used on a disco? You can probably guess i need to replace my fuel lines
  9. Thats OBVIOUSLY a citreon designed feet cooling system! TBH i that thing would shift, a little footwell welding and you cant go wrong! it looks like some serious fun!
  10. Now thats a potentially good result! Lets hope they track the rest of the gang down!
  11. Since my last post I have managed to remove the drum, it was very very tight in the bush, I think the washer and seal had failed (I didn't take a picture) and water/dirt ingress had occurred. The grit in this bush had scored it badly so I'm going to have to replace it. Now I've not done a lot of this so was wondering how am I supposed to get the bush out of the casing? Have read this Im almost certain Im going to have to tap the brake shaft out and get the outer brake disk pressed off. Can I just tap the shaft through from the opposite end? sorry for all the questions, I just dont want to crack the casing or gnaw a gear as these things are bloomin expensive!
  12. cheer guys thats brilliant i had been following the one by billavista but wasnt aware of the others. I'm having trouble getting the drum off, i have pulled the lock plate up and givem the drum a wiggle but it wont come off. is there something im missing? I'm still battling with the brake aswell, its rusted on very well! ive wd40'd it and also warmed it and tryed using a hub puller but it still wont come free. ive left it soaking with more wd. do gigglepin/ devon 4x4 stock everything for these winches? as it isnt that clear on websites. Thanks
  13. Before I start.. im not sure if this is in the right place, so mods can you move it to the right section please! I have recently bought a 8274, after a saga with the courier company getting it here (18ton lorry couldnt fit down my road, I had 3 40ton concrete lorrys here yesterday ) I eventually got it into the workshop. I thought, right take the wire rope off because it will be lighter to move about on my own, and I'm hopefully going plasma straight away. So I started pulling and pulling and it felt a bit strange. Then all of a sudden the end plate fell off. It seems the "end cap" (PN 7584) and screw (PN 7) are were missing! Now I'm still not very sure, but in the end support housing, its just a bushing and no bearing as such? That over come I removed the wire rope and began to look at the brake, remove the clip and, you guessed it the brake is rusted absolutely solid, does anyone have any handy hints on removing this? also i can see the brake disc thingy moving about freely inside, should this be? So onto the top of the winch.. I having paid to much attention to the contactors as I fancy buying an albright, but they appear to be past there best I undid the 3 allen bolt and took a glimpse inside, All the gears appear to be fine, nothing stripped and nothing rusty. But it didnt half smell like burning oil i there, and there was gungey gunk stuck to the outer casing about 2mm thick! Now.. I feel a full strip down is in order. I just hope i can get the brake assembly apart What bearing/bush kits do I need? and where do i buy them from? (cheapest please, gigglepin?) My serial is 125198 (very early isnt it?) Part number is 7585 and date code is CD9 (can someone decipher that?) Also the motor i have seems to be one of the original prestolite (?) motors, should i upgrade straight away? Damn this is going to be an expensive winch Thankyou!
  14. Didn't 300 autos have an ECU for something that was connected to the engine... Im a just a nooby
  15. cut it off.. you will hardly notice its missing!
  16. As FridgeFreezer says, Janspeed fitted a single turbo to the 3.5 v8 with moderate success I believe. There has been one on ebay the past couple of weeks, I've just looked and cannot find it tho!
  17. I'm absolutely stumped how these work... therefore I will more then definitely be buying some so I can have a good look! Seems as I'm not going to win this competition can someone PM me the answer the curiosity is killing me!
  18. i saw this on ebay a couple of weeks ago, it actually got sold twice on ebay due to the fact its definitely not a series 3. I only live about 5/6 miles away and went and had a look, it looked a damn good bargin for a 90 and it most definitely is a 90! Is this the same 90 that had a MOT at....a local MOT centre and the police went round on monday and had a barny because they MOT'd a 90 with a ground off chassis number? The police also asked "could you not tell it was 88inch??" hmmm im pretty sure it is! I have absolutely NO connection with the garage... i just know a chap whom works there!
