  1. Built in 1994 Took 2 years to build Current owner bought in 1997. So the builder was too embarrassed after the first MOT to take it to another. Not used since 2001 So the current owner only managed 4 years before being too embarrassed to use it. I guess the sticker on the door says it all.... 'UgliTruck'
  2. The-ACE seems to have disappeared between april and august this year, any idea why they shutdown? You can still access important parts of their website via archive.org for example http://web.archive.org/web/20160227222858/http://www.the-ace.org.uk/chassis-and-monocoque-modification/ is the page twodoorgaz quoted.
  3. Well I hope the wheels fall off the car they fit them to whilst they are driving it ....... What a waste
  4. With regards to the plastic joiner IIRC a genuine 300TDI bottom hose in ROW spec has a plastic joiner and non ROW doesn't have the joiner, I wonder if this is similar for the TD5 hose? I'll need to find the source for that info though EDIT: source turns out to be this forum Anyway the point of mentioning it was that if genuine is available with a plastic joiner then there is probably little to worry about
  5. At the time it didn't seem difficult, I think a puncture or blowout would have been harder to deal with. By that stage of the journey I'd done about 30 miles of motorway and fast A roads since leaving home. Just before getting in the car I distinctly remember looking at that wheel because I was wondering if it looked a little soft, I'm sure if any nuts were already missing I would have noticed..... I found the musical coincidence amusing, that's the A2 going into London Tal At about 17 seconds into that footage you can see in 1 frame the last wheel nut being launched from the car.
  6. Had a root around on the dash cam footage for the really boring moment it happened, you would quite easily miss it.
  7. That's amazing, but I can't help wondering what the motivation is for them
  8. Strange thing is I remember looking at that wheel before I set off and wondering if it was a little soft, hopefully I'd have noticed any missing nuts. Also the last couple of times I parked up that wheel was towards the road so would have been less likely to be tampered with.
  9. Well there was no copper slip on these. With regards to torque they either get done to the correct torque or get overtightened with the 3ft breaker bar that lives in the 110, depends on if the torque wrench is with me when they get taken off. They are all now breaker bar and a good grunt tight. The wheels hadn't been off the vehicle for quite a while so I couldn't tell you if they were torqued or grunted.
  10. I now have a shopping list of Brake Disc, Boost Alloy, Wheel Nuts, and the rubber hub cap thing. Oh and probably a rivet or two for the wheel arch eyebrow.
  11. TBF it was more kind of surreal, handles quite well with 3 wheels and a disc.
  12. Yep bouncy, bouncy over the armco and down an embankment covered in bushes.
  13. I'll admit that I can't remember when I last checked my wheel nuts ..... oh ok I can actually it was right after this happened.
  14. Very impressive Mr DefSport, are there more pictures of this build?
  15. It's a Puma - Front doors complete sell for about £500 each if all the bits are there. A pair of 2nd row doors went for £1200 last month. Rear door is £300-400 Bonnet is £200-£400 So potentially £3000 there depending if they nicked anything else.....
  16. Even though it was on loan I assume the police will have some form of insurance that will have to pay out.
  17. They probably disabled the alarm but a lot of police stations are no longer manned 24 hours so it's entirely possible nobody would have heard the alarm anyway. EDIT: Checking google maps it's in the middle of town and they have their own car park they could have used ..... https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Shenton+Ln,+Market+Bosworth,+Nuneaton+CV13+0LA/@52.6234412,-1.4010481,199m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x4877574457d55f65:0x9e08a501b9322665!8m2!3d52.622893!4d-1.4017323
