  1. Hey all, I thought that Id post up a conclusion so that anyone searching for it in future can find some info. It was the return pipe on the top of the tank. In my haste I thought that it was the pickup pipe, having worked on discoverys in the past. I slowly cleaned it with a screwdriver and then managed to get some chemical stop leak and that has managed to stem the leak. Ive since aranged a replacement and that will be fitted when I get home and have access to a new jubilee clip. Thanks all, H
  2. Hey, Ive just looked at the leak again and when looking again it appears to be the main pickup pipe/where the sender is too on the curved bit of pipe. Its more of a pin-hole leak that you can see squirting out when running. Ive just tried some sort of pipe sealent on it so I'll see if that does the trick. If not I may even try a screw in the hole as it'll probabily need replacing when I get back anyway. The rest of the vehicle is in grand condition and as I'll probabily break it anyway, theres more than enough plus points but thanks for your concern Sharpy. Thanks, H
  3. Hey all, I was wondering can anyone help me....Ive just bought a 110 300tdi 1998 pickup. The seller naturally neglected to tell me about a somewhat major fuel leak from the metal curved section of pipe coming out of the top of the tank. I think its simply rusted through. Im not too bothered about going after him because unfortuntaltely Im 600 miles from home and need to get the vehicle back. Im near Inverness (in scotland ) for anyone thats interested and I need to get back to Cork in southern Ireland. Id heard that soap worked and I could cake the whole area in the stuff to try and stem it a wee bit but does anyone know does this actually work or have any other suggestions? If the worst comes to the worst I'll just get a jerry can in the cab and connect onto the fuel line with a length of fuel pipe which I can either get tomorrow or Monday. Any suggestions would be greatfully apreciated! Thanks, H
  4. Well on most of the sawmills Ive seen like the mizer the whole saw assembly (engine, gearbox and bandsaw wheels ) go up and down and the tree stays still. Ive used a LT40 and that was belt driven. Can you not rotate the motor so that drive would be inline? Are you planning on doing this or a different way? H
  5. wheres the like button on this forum! Its nice to hear of a small bit of logic from a government! H
  6. if its for a sawmill why not just go the standard route and use drive belts, either a poly v or v-belt? That would also give you the option of different speeds/torques for different diameter wood and species. H
  7. Thats a brilliant story of an awful event! My brother took the end of his 2 fingers in my planer before christmas and that wasnt nice either, so you have to be careful. Hope that you get well soon! H
  8. The one good thing about Ireland is there have been cases of trespassers being shot and killed entering properties. I cant remember too much, but there is a certain amount of legal protection for the landowner if they can prove that it was un-invited entry. Makes electricity a wonderful friend along with firearms! H
  9. it would all depend on what engine you have. i had one in a tuned 300tdi and it was just too high for cross country driving but motorway it was ok. I plan on trying it one ina 90 truck cab with a v8 to see what its like. H
  10. People may say 12k is alot but for that you've re-framed it and given it a near complete (bar transfer box) drive train overhaul. Id have said that you did well. H
  11. Thats brilliant! Please write a further installment..... H
  12. It was the hex part but I managed to loose that and I made up one from a sliding joint using new tractor pto shaft. It just seems that the shaft vibrates like mad on the bracket that bolts onto the sump. H
  13. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of this.....I have a H14 superwinch PTO winch and the last part of the shaft that runs conects from the engine to the winch rattles like mad and its driving me nuts. Does anyone have any ideas how I can sort it? H
  14. Hey mate, I got a mac tools puller set of ebay recently too. I was wondering do you happen to have the origional manual and if so, could I have a copy? Also, is it oil in the piston or grease? Thanks, H.
  15. It could be alot of work to try and keep both the steel and ali seperate. Ive heard that if you were to put a anode on the chassis (like a boat one) that helps alot. Might be worth trying. H
  16. I thought that it was Yan the landy man off ebay (not sure if hes in the bolton area) who sold him the 90 to start with... We'd all be making lots of money if we managed to sell vehicles for that sort of money. Id have bitten the buyers hand off! H
  17. The truck was funny enough to start with but you guys have got me into real trouble for bursting out laughing in a open plan office!!! H
  18. For the insurance value, if its agreed value, Id price up building another and use that figure for the insurance if you can afford to insure it for such. BTW would you be prepared to put up some photos of the inside? I always like looking at others! H
  19. I have one of those douglas/arb style bumpers modified to take a superwinch H14 PTO winch. Just finished it this evening in fact. You could easily buy one of those bumpers new or secondhand and buy a winch with the balance. H
  20. Where are you based/willing to travel too? There are few places here with new but there is a small number of people breaking vehicles. H
  21. Hey Paul Where did you get the toggle clamp from? Ive been trying to track down one or two for my spare wheel carrier. Thanks, h
