  1. Its a change of 10%. I wouldnt be too worried. At what point you stop when filling up can also change due to variations in the pump if you simply filled till the click. H
  2. They are nice but so much more messy to fill up than a cartridge gun... H
  3. Ive used this too for a few weeks. H
  4. Lee, Im going to vent a few things now! As many others have started to say and I have said on forums before, as long as land rover disassociates itself from the Defender line, it is completely out of touch with the real land rover owners who have helped in the past to provide the strong tough image that it seems to be riding at the moment to provide sales. The vast majority of the people on these forums really have no interest in models like the sport and evoque. I feel that if you continue on this line, alot of enthusiasts are simply going to loose interest with land rover and get something else. In the past with the simple discovery and defender line you had something that could easily be repaired and was reliable and adaptable. The current line up is fine if you want to continue on the short-term image concious buyer (mummy and drug dealers as someone has already commented on). This consumer will change and then what'll you do? This arrogance as I see it seems to be a charactoristic of large companies and could easily be ammended there-by putting you leagues ahead of the competiton. The way I see it is, the rest of the trade world (business buyers) want a very simple robust powerful (im sorry 2.2 litres is a joke) vehicle that simply is not being provided. Rio tinto have stopped buying 70 series because of the crash rating (too low) so you have a opening there. If you were to take up where toyota is pulling out of with the 70 series with a adaptable powerful (with at least 150hp and 3.5 litres) and reliable vehicle you would end up with something that will sell itself in vast numbers...People will buy them. I dont understand the obsession with electronics apart from being a cheap way to get around emissions restrictions either. Ohh and every driving challenge since the camel trophy has been a joke, Im sorry.... H
  5. I personally would disagree that Land rover still has its classless status. I think they are starting to loose their connection with the tradition of the brand. H
  6. If you're paying people to do the work (not fabricating yourself) I think your budget is too small...... Try ex army truck. You'd get alot more for your buck. Either that or Yank Im afraid. H
  7. Ive always used Mann filters for the reason that they are from what Ive found to be the densest filter available. Ive always thought that coopers poor. H
  8. What voltage are you getting across the battery exactly? 12v is not enough to start it at all. It should be above 12.4. If it was let go completely flat it may take a few days charge to get it back to life. Even then there is a chance that it is dead and unrecoverable. H
  9. From what I know he has sold his G-wagon. I saw it for sale on a MB specialists website a while back. Dont know if hes still traveling much etc. I got a signed copy off him when I ordered one of his books direct. Never knew it was him on the phone! Hugh
  10. Hi mate, From what I can gather, you can use any land rover gearbox on a 300tdi. THere might be a stud to remove on some of the series boxes thats all. If you want an auto though, the v8s have different valve settings for the gearchange. You can get diesel autoboxes occasionally though. H
  11. By utility I assume you mean a long station wagon. Land Rover never made one and from memory Foley make them. Otherwise out with the welder! It shouldnt be too hard, just as long as you get the alignment spot on when you cut the chassis! H
  12. I'll have a look there in the morning. I think I saw something on the bottom of the door frame. I dont know are they in a good condition though. I will have to see if I can find an alturnative material to replace them with. Thanks, H
  13. Im not sure about the bottom door seals ive tried adjusting the door strikers ive resealed the centre cubby box floor and theres carpet over it. H
  14. Hi all, I am coming to the end of my tether with my 110 csw. I have a draft that seems to blow cold air around my hips when Im on the move and its getting to the point that it is crippling after a long drive. It only seems to be an issue during the winter (well the air is cold im guessing) but I really want to get it sorted. I have tried adjusting the door seals all round and any other obvious holes in the body. It is a dormobile with a lifting roof but the awning on that is fully sealed with the roof. Has anyone else come across this? Many thanks, Hugh.
  15. Is no-one considering the gmc 6.2 v8s any more? Ive always thought them ok with amazing torque. H
  16. Thank you for sharing yet again Nige! We'll have to set up a charity get armour for Nige collection! H
  17. It looks the same as the paddock one they sell. Ive had 2 and they are fine. H
  18. That was from the GPS and also checked using a online routefinder. I too didnt believe it at first! H
  19. Hey, i think alot is the condition of the engine and components. I had a brand new (not recon) 200tdi in my 90. With some pump and turbo tuning, a disco transfer box and thats it I still managed to get a 43mpg on a long run, and 34 to 36mpg usually. A proper full overhaul would see a significant improvement. The auto should only really reduce it by 3-5mpg so you should still be over 30mpg. I also ran bfg muds at the time too. Hugh
  20. Aye, would you be prepared to share a route outline? I was thinking of doing something similar next April/May depending on weather and other things..... H
  21. Im guessing that you might be restricted as to origionality with regard to registration? TDI land rover is probabily the best (and cheapest) bet. Otherwise V8..... H
  22. Just a quicky... Ive been offered a set of Old Man Emus shocks for peanuts. Im currently wondering does anyone know if they are ok to run on standard height springs? Its a 1995 300tdi disco. I dont have time before a long trip to fit taller springs. They're the OME Nitrocharger N27 and N45F ones. Many thanks and sorry for the rushed message as Im writing on my phone. Hugh
  23. Hey mate, Im actually in Coffs Harbour and planned to come back to Sydney today but that might not happen. Ive managed to track down MJK Discovery and they're seeing me at lunch and he says that he has one and I have the tools to change it out. I'll see what the one is like that I take out. I think that the vehicle may have been driven for a while with a duff UJ so I would not have any confidence with just replacing the bearings at this point. I'll see. A diff is looking at $250 from MJK or $440 for a recon from all 4x4 in Newcastle so all is not lost. I saw the D2 one up on gumtree in newcastle and could collect it as I came through but Id rather check the diff now rather than run the risk with a 400mile drive back tonight with a suspect rear axle. I was thinking of buying both the diff and propshaft if he had it. Hugh
  24. Thank you. I did mean discovery D2 but I didnt phrase it well. Did the later ones have a rubber dounut or UJ? Thats the second part....and if not will a propshaft from the D2 fit too? Mine has the dounut and the one for sale is off a V8 auto. Hugh
