  1. Edmontoon? Cripes Gord you may as well emmigrate to Siberia
  2. That second one is a very decent looking vehicle Ralph............i'm almost tempted but i'm willing to bet it will go well and above 3000GBp............ We have to add 1000 GBp appx for shipping and then near 20% on that total, ie purchase, shipping, taxes, duties.........OUCH
  3. Congratulations siggy..... too bad you chose to live in Ontario......the Maritimes are where it's at Oh i forgot.you want to go to work :)
  4. Lets see how to say this........... Canada Customs require the "paperwork" to indicate to them that the vehicle is indeed 15 years old, month specific, when it lands here..... To my knowledge they do not get into, engine types, weather its disc braked all around or not, etc......... so obviously if you are somewhat creative you could pretty much build the Land Rover you want to send or bring whichever the case may be.......... as long as the paperwork says it is 15 years old.............. In fact i think what i have outlined above would be quite "legal"............. If i were to import again i'd go for an H registered , 200tdi and add a "few items' before it lrft the UK. BTW right hand drive is not a problem here other than looking a little silly
  5. I quite agree siggy up to 10kph over is the "norm" on highways unless you drive on highway 20 in Quebec and then the sky seems to be the limit...... The Sûreté du Québec Highway Patrol usually pick a speed well over the limit and then cruise the length of the highway in the "outside" lane, if the Patrol car cannot pass you at his speed then you get nicked. Another favourit tactic is for there to be no obvious Patrol at all.....that is till you near either end of highway 20 and then you will see as many as 10 Patrol cars with a roadblock set up and an observation aircraft overhead...........they need that many cars to spell the officers off from getting "writers cramp" On rural roads and in towns and villages the worst problem i have with the Land Rover is "tailgaters", i'm thinking of putting a 50 cal Browning on the back
  6. I think this all like playing Bagpipes...are those guys sucking or blowing to produce these "orrible" sounds....
  7. RPR, I wonder will this help? from the WWW somewhere "The automobile engine produces vacuum as a by-product of normal operation and is freely available for use in powering accessories such as the power brake booster. Vacuum enters the booster through a check valve on the booster. The check valve is connected to the engine with a rubber hose and acts as a one-way valve that allows vacuum to enter the booster but does not let it escape. The booster is an empty shell that is divided into two chambers by a rubber diaphragm. There is a valve in the diaphragm that remains open while your foot is off the brake pedal so that vacuum is allowed to fill both chambers. When you step on the brake pedal, the valve in the diaphragm closes, separating the two chambers and another valve opens to allow air in the chamber on the brake pedal side. This is what provides the power assist. "
  8. Toyota, Toyota, Toyota, did i say Toyota? Sure, but it's not now, never was and never will be............ a Land Rover...........
  9. They just don't make em like they used to............ in one winter i ran the Series over my old Motorolla flip phone and burried it in the snow, when found the next day it worked and for years after..... the same winter i lost my Timex indiglo in the snowy woods...It was found keeping perfect time 3 mos later when the snow had gone
  10. "A litre of engine oil a day (in the 2.5) keeps the mechanic away"
  11. He has trouble with 5th...i have trouble selecting 1st.......... Can any gearbox possibly be worse than the LT77? Give me the later Series IIa, now there was a good gearbox.... I'm on my second and a half replacement LT77.... the 1/2 part? I built a new one from three old ones Just a note: For a long time i was bullied by the myth that the LT77 was a hard gearbox to work on... over here, out of necessity, one has to do a lot of ones own work (with tech notes sent over from Forum friends)... anyway once you get that thing apart it's just a gearbox afterall Given a choice another time i'd be off to see Ashcrofts Good Luck with it ..............
  12. Good for you Ralph.......... must you remember to re-torque the head at some time?
  13. I wonder could you race Land Rovers around under there?
  14. So Ralph i knew there was something i liked about you........ you arn't 1/2 bad afterall....just 1/4 bad and i can say that because my "old man" was born in Cardiff.......... whats that make me? No Les, Moggy and you others..........don't answer that
  15. Lets hope you make it siggy........ Canada needs "a few good men" You should consider living in "The Maritimes" we have the highest un-employment, the most on welfare, the lowest productivity rate BUT the best GD Land Rover trails anywhere and all the time in the world to explore them.
  16. Hi Ralph; 0-100 psi ........ pretty optomistic eh? The 4 cylinder guage part # is PRC 3116 (original only around 80.00 GBp from Bearmach) sorry can't find a part # on the transducer (sender) perhaps it is a mechanical guage......... I prefer the mechanical guage as Ralph says "more accurate" and i fitted an "aftermarket" one to my 2.5 petrol, 30 psi idle, 45 psi or so at 3000 rpm..............
  17. Thats odd they havn't contacted me yet .....i've been pulling for years now
  18. I'm sure if Defenders were available to North Americans they would sell quite well, as it stands now they don't meet NA safety standards.......perhaps the new design will take this into consideration..........
  19. I'm just staggared by the attention to detail............... Gawd its great........
  20. I couldn't open past the first page but what i saw was ......well good B)
  21. Hi Jim; I've got you penciled in for some "sensitivity training"
  22. ker bang !! ...... sound of me hitting myself on the head A fuse.....of course, the first place to look, i wish i had told him that That fuse would be found in the panel in front of the gearshift would it not ?
