  1. And guess who's bloody likely to be stuck in Holland with cancelled EasyJey flights everywhere!? These gits seem to follow me about. Last year I was in London, and had to walk miles to get home. This time I'm checking out ferry and eurostar journeys, in case the delays carry on tomorrow...
  2. I've been to Pattaya three times, each time with SWIMBO and her folks. Just booked up again for next year, last two weeks in October. Only offroaders that I've seen of note that can be hired are blinged up Jeep Wranglers, prepped for nothing more than cruising the 2 mile beach promenade. But then as Andy says, Pattaya isn't really in the Jungle. Make sure you take a brolly! Peak of the monsoon season in September. Good beer and food to be had in the Green Bottle pub.
  3. Where does the spare wheel go then? You can show me where it's hidden next week, as I'm Si's co-driver at the BDB! B)
  4. Any help from this lot, as posted by SteveG as while back?
  5. Billing Trade stand list here, and the stand map here!
  6. I had better things to do than take piccies of Nick's discomfort, like look elsewhere! . And anyway, he didn't give us much notice!
  7. You wanna be posting on ORRP, mate. They like well constructed, mature discussions like this, and you wouldn't wear out your * key so much.
  8. As Tony said, a quiet word to a mod would have done, instead of informing the world that your top 10 posting position of the day wasn't what you hoped. I didn't even know we had a top 10! B)
  9. Does post count really matter that much in the general scheme of things?
  10. Just posted a request for help on the Disco Forum. Please help if you can. Help needed here! Ta muchly!
  11. Greetings, Following a recent, rather expensive 48000 main dealer service on my '52 (Feb 03) Disco II, I need to check my brake pads before Seven Sisters. I was informed that the fronts were nearly down to the metal, and they really should be replaced! Fine I thought, but I'll save the £150 and do them myself. I've since been told what sort of porkies a main dealer is likely to spin, and that the are quite conservative on wear rates, and this is bourne out by the fact that I have never seen a brake light warning of any kind. So before I start taking the wheels off and getting mucky with brake dust on the hottest week of the century, I thought I'd better stock up on spares just in case. To this end, can anyone tell me what the part numbers are likely to be for a '52 Disco ES TD5, front and rear pads? Ta muchly.
  12. If knowing people personally precludes my being able to nominate them, then I've have no idea who MarkC is! He's my nomination for the Tools & Fab gig!
  13. Nice one Steve. Very useful. What is the difference between the standard Parts and the CE Part which they refer to as European, and cannot be ordered on the web? Your winch came from the Staes anyway, but is it likely that the US (non-CE) parts will fit our UK or EU supplied winches?
  14. Gosh! What more can one say. Those mad icelanders really know how to turn out an offroader!
  15. Not when the car in front is simply carrying out a sharp and slow left hand turn into a drive...
  16. Of course I was signalling right.....to show that I intended to illegally cross a double white line like the idiot behind me did..??! If you can't see it's safe to overtake, no matter how inconsiderate or inconvenient the driver in front you is apparently being, you don't overtake.
  17. Did they actually pull over to the kerb, or just slow and stop? What if it had been a small child that you couldn't see crossing the road in front of the police car? I slowed down to a stop the other day to let a car take a sharp left turn into a drive in front of me, and the idiot behind me crossed double white lines to oevrtake because he couldn't see the car in front of me, and assumed I stopped for no reason. The only differnece is I wasn't a Police car so I couldn't follow him to ask about his inconsiderate overtaking.
  18. I'll be there, fiddling with Big Si's gadgets!
  19. If matey was ordering bits through work, and paying for them, then OK. But ordering parts for his own car which are payed for by work, whether gearboxes or fasteners, makes no odds as far as I'm concerned, is plain theft. And unless he's got receipts to prove ownership of other parts, he stands to lose the lot. Same mentality as the tax man. If he catches you fiddling the books one year, he can do you for years before that on the assumption that you've always been doing it. If matey's lucky, he'll only get the sack I expect. If not, they may prosecute.
  20. I wonder who that might be!?.... Heigh ho me hearties! Anyway Dave, I too enjoy getting a clear view of wonderful countryside, without tail lights, a bit of exercise opening gates, and a map to read. I particularly like the navigating bit! When's then next trip Chris? B)
  21. Surely the usual way it works is that you buy it, and pay for carriage, and he sends it?! Why should you be worried about shipping it? That's the sellers job... I'm assuming it's an LR item you're buying of course, otherwise this thread might be considered a tad OT...
  22. I did this on my TD5 Disco a few months back, but luckily the ever alert SWMBO spotted what I was doing so I never turned the ignition on. Luckily we we're filling up at a small garage with a very nice service manager who syphoned the tank. Apparently it can't be syphoned through the fuel filler, because of whatever anti-theft measures that LR have put in place, though I haven't actually tried it. We syphoned it through the top of the tank. Don't forget, as imspanners implied, there's some magic trickery required to prime the fuel pump once you've emptied the tank on a TD5. Something like pumping the trottle 10 times with the ignition on whilst standing on you head and sacrificing a goat on the bonnet..
