  1. Ok, thank you for you help. I'll see if there's anywhere local in the yellow pages. Steve
  2. Hi, I've been reading this thread about the front seal as I think it's been leaking into my timing case. I've searched the internet for the seal, but I haven't found it. It's a 200TDi Defender engine from 1994. Thanks Steve
  3. Hi, Yes, it is true that if you cover the intake, and there are no air leaks, then it will stall the engine as the engine is drawing in air as part of the combustion process. I guess this only really works if you have a large hole in the system as the engine will not be able to run off the small amount of air being sucked in through a join crack etc. Diff gaurds.....well it depends whether you going rock crawling of gentle greenlaning and what type of gaurd you were thinking of. Steve
  4. Hi, Thats correct, I'll be at West Harptree for James event so a small package shouldn't be a problem. If you let Nick know, I can collect it form the pub tonight. Hope this helps. Steve
  5. Yeah, a picture would be great. Any reason why you've got checker plate covering your grill? Steve
  6. Yeah, I made a whole new rear crossmember as the rust was starting to take hold. As I've recently finished my front winch bumper, I've moved the winch to the front, so am not using a rear winch at the moment. I did think about some sort of inspection hatch as access is some what restricted and its handy to see when the rope is bunching up. Also it needs to be cut right as I still want to be able to put heavy stuff in the back without fear of it falling through! Steve
  7. As you say, if there's red oil running down your drop arm then your output seal on you steering box is starting to fail/has failed. You can buy new seal kits, like this, but if the shaft is scored then its probably a false economy so maybe a new box is in order? Steve
  8. You did the same thing as me and made the rear winch bumper before the first! Here's mine. Steve
  9. Nice write up too. I'll be entering the second round of the 4x4 Adventure series with Ricip trials! I'll see how I get on! Steve
  10. I know you said Ashcrofts don't do them, so is it not this: http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_70.html Steve
  11. You want some of these! There also bomb proof as there used by the MOD, which always comes in handy! Steve
  12. Car 33 has some seriously long rear trailing arms!! Keep the pics and vids coming! Steve Now corrected!!
  13. Better later than never!! Nice to see you all got muddy, Especially Ash judging by the pic! Steve
  14. I had a good idea of what I wanted to achieve with my new crossmember. So i did lots of measuring and measuring......and measuring and got all the parts cut and machined. Then I was ready to cut the old one off, make the chassis ends good and then mock up and build the new one around the chassis ends. As I was building it around the chassis ends there was a certain amount of fine tuning to make it all fit nicely and so a bit of grinding and filing and it was all done. It took longer than anticipated though!!! Steve
  15. What time does the action start, finish etc. As I'll be there with my camera tomorrow. Steve
  16. How did the new protection bars fare in the first 4x4 Adventures series the other weekend? Steve
  17. Well it looks like it's going to be an exciting series opener at the weekend. The 'V12 Hybrid' sounds interesting. I'll be there taking some pictures. Steve
  18. Well, I hope you all have a fun day tomorrow, not sure what the weathers going to be like! I look forward to all the pictures! I shall be joining you all at West Harptree in two months time. Steve
  19. I had an excellant time and got surprisly muddy for a green laning trip...maybe it was all those muddy puddles! Thanks to Colin Read (thanks jules!) for organising it with maps etc. A few pictures: 01 - Mine! 02 - Route number two we chose! 03 - our group (Just noticed the camel looks surprisingly like Dan's!) 04 - All parked up for lunch Steve
  20. Definitly West Sussex, Paul doesn't live Here! Steve
  21. Me Too! I made my own also incorporating mounting holes for a rear winch. It has quick release mudflaps and.....fog lights! Steve
  22. I have also lost this setting, I did have it a few weeks ago. I tried replacing the intermittent wiper relay but nothing changed. Any thoughts anyone? Steve
  23. I have made my own winch bumper and added two 20mm round posts for the R clips to clip through. You could drill out the existing insets for the bolts that hold the mudflaps on and add some M10 ar M12 Threaded inserts (the ones that crimp on) and add some short threaded posts for your R-clips. Hope this helps. Steve
  24. I've made/modified my own using some big R clips.
