  1. I've had to do this before. I think you insert the key into the lock and there's a pin you need to push in somewhere on the outside of where the lock barrel sits in the lock. I've found a link here about it: http://www.repairmyl...-lock-removal-2 Steve P.S. If you search for: 'defender rear door barrel removal' in google images it brings up a picture of the exact precedure, someone pushing in a pin to remove the barrel. It's lonked to this website but the picture isn't available.
  2. The X-Armour range. For the gear stick lock - X-Change Steve
  3. Unless you have a rolling road on your drive, I'll have to disagree with you. As to generate boost you need to put the engine under load. Steve
  4. Update: I have now removed the cooler from the cooler housing and it turns out that they are not copper washers after all! The part you will need is an M22 Dowty seal. Steve
  5. You could do a health check on your engine and do compression and leak tests on all four cylinders which may flag up something obvious, but as ejparrott say you could be looking at an expensive rebuild. Steve
  6. Do you have a part number for these studs as I might think about fitting a set as my manifold has warped. Thanks Steve
  7. Hi, I have been looking in the parts diagrams and found all part numbers I need apart from the following: - The copper washers that are used with the banjo bolt to hold the oil cooler into it's housing. This is for a TD5 Defender. Thanks Steve
  8. I thought when the pressure difference gets to a certain limit it either regens automatically or it will give a warning and you need to pull over onto the side of the road and it will commence its regen. Or take it for a plast up the motorway once a month to clear it out? Steve
  9. Hi, There's loads on this in 'Tool and Fabrication', but the low down is YES it's worth it. It only works on car stuff such as oil, filters, wiper blades, bulbs etc and tools (it doesn't work on bikes and cd players!). How much discount...... well it varies, bulbs are cheap, so are wiper blades and you get a couple of pounds off tools, but there's no hard and fast rule on the discount. Best bet is to take said product to the check out for a price check! Steve
  10. For the last few months I've been thinking about the same thing having either something like a Dell Inspiron Duo with the flippy screen which turns into a tablet or an android tablet. I was in HMV the other day looking at these and I thought the Asus Transformer was the best. Did you opt to get the keyboard with it, it's quite a good idea really as it also extends battery life. I also saw a windscreen mount for it, but I guess it may have obscured the camera. Steve
  11. Thanks for your replies. What I was planning was to fit a better speedo than my original defender one which didn't need a speed transducer fitting like for the new TD5 defenders and so I saw the RR one and liked it as it was all back lite and the needle was lite also. As it sounds like this also has a transducer I might try an early Discovery one, but there may not be much difference! Steve
  12. Hi, I'm thinking of fitting the speedo from here to an LT230 on my Defender. What I would like to know is if this speedo is electronic or needs a transducer to run it or is mechanically driven, and what cable I would need. Thanks for your help and yes, I know I could fit a TD5 speedo, but that could be more hassle! Steve
  13. I don't quite agree with that. You should really check them when the engine is cold as the clearances reduce when the engine is fully warmed up hence having the clearences to allow the valves to remain fully seated when the engine is hot. Obviously we are talking very small amounts here, but best check them on a cold engine. Steve
  14. What an excellent day. It was good getting back to Bunny Lane and seeing how it has changed, well, I didn't see many bits that had changed! The muddy bits were still muddy and in some cases muddier than I thought! I got in a situation like the chap in Ryans picture above and Richard in his D-Lander (Thanks Rich!) pulled me out, only for a green bob tailed ranger rover to have a go and as Rich wasn't quick enough to move ended up pulling him out aswell! My Dad told the next chap in a Defender 90 pickup that the last 2 people drove in and got stuck. He said 'I'll give it a few more beans', sure enough he got stuck as well. I was quite surprised when I turned up to see the amount of cars there, but I did think that as it hasn't been open for a couple of years it would be busy. Thanks to all the Marshalls for putting on a great day. Steve
  15. Apparently it also has a self adjusting timing belt! What ever that is: 'On 03-Nov-11 at 16:10:57 GMT, seller added the following information: FORGOT TO SAY IT HAS A SELF ADJUSTING TIMING BELT IT READS THE THE TENSION IN THE BELT AND ADJUSTS TO WHAT IT NEEDS FANTASTIC TO HAVEOn 03-Nov-11 at 16:10:57 GMT, seller added the following information:' And the roll cage cost £4500, I think they saw him coming! Steve
  16. Chris, I remember seeing it, I may have it, I'll have a look next week. Remind me at the weekend! Steve
  17. Do you have anymore info? As I haven't heard of it! Day, time, location etc. Thanks Steve
  18. I second that, I'll be there. Should be interesting to seee how the site has changed, if it has changed! Steve
  19. Paddocks sell Timken bearings, that's where I get mine from. Steve
  20. Si sells Numax batteries at X-Eng. I think they're the second one down in your list. Give him a ring to discuss your options. I have one of Si's batteries and it's been very good. Steve
  21. Yep I did this on the way back from a winch challenge. Water pump/alternator belt came off so I fashioned a new one from the rope handle that was on my waffle boards. It stayed on until I got home (about 25 miles) which I thought was inpressive! Steve
