  1. Another enjoyable day at Brick Kiln. The weather was good until half three when it tipped it down. Thanks to Jules for setting up some punches of varying difficultly, I always like a challenge! A few pictures from today: The first punch of the day (well for me anyway) Another punch. Jason (Hoarebag) reaching a punch. I later also attemped this with my rear winch, as its all working! And the d-lander Shame this tree was in the way for this section! This punch was really hard as even the fully kitted out 3 winch challenge truck struggled Another visitor, don't know who he was though! Don'f forget to send your pictures to photos@shirelrc.com because they won't get in the magazine by themselves!
  2. No, remember...fun punch hunt, there's no competitive edge! Steve
  3. Thats the great thing about it, its fun! It makes the day more interesting and challenging. I surpose you have the kit to make the punch cards (or the resources to farm them out). If you need any help give me a shout. Steve
  4. I'll be there! Will there be a punch challenge/fun punch hunt! There always good at Brick Kiln. Ow...and I'll have a working rear winch!!! Finally! Steve
  5. I'm also home now. Thanks to Chris for navigating and map reading. It was an excellant weekend of laning and meeting people from the forum. Hope to do it again sometime. Steve (the one with the rear winch!)
  6. A few recent products I have bought: Gun Gum Tin of the original stuff £3.80. Trade £0.75 Wiper blades are cheap too £5.99 for defender length. Trade £1.50ish 2 pack of indicator, brake light bulbs etc £1.79 Trade £0.20ish Head light bulbs are often buy one get one free, but on trade there half price. Hope this helps. Steve
  7. Slightly off topic, Dave, does this mean you have been converted to the truck cab look, practicality, side of thing?! Steve
  8. Well, with a rollcage planned in the future and a few measurements taken it could work out quite nicely. As the southdown and Daves fit through the wing in pretty much the same position as the front hoop of a rollcage would go you could potentially use that hole later to fit the rollcage (it may need enlargening) and then make a second hole in front to re-mount the snorkel. Hopefully then you wont have any unused cut outs. The southdown snorkel pipe enters through the wing on the radius of the wing, so you could do away with the plastic moulding and mount it further in to line up better with where the rollcage would sit. I'm sure others have mounted a southdown snorkel or similar to a rollcage on the passenger side, so there must be enough room even if it is a bit fiddly to fit it. Hope this help and you understand what I'm trying to say! Steve
  9. Hi, I have a southdown snorkel fitted to mine and although I didn't fit it (as it was already on the vehicle when I bought it) surely it will be easier to fit than routing a pipe from the other side of the engine bay and re mounting the airbox. The 300TDi engine is mounted further forward thus there is space for an intake pipe to pass around the back of the engine. Seems a bit of a work up to me, but this is only my view. Steve
  10. Another great day at Hogmoor. It was bone dry compared to last time back in February when the lake was the size of.....well a lake. This time it was a much smaller muddy area and retroanaconda was the first to get stuck. And it wasn't long until everyone wanted a piece of the action! Rich and Nige both got stuck going through the middle and winched each other out. Blue D-Lander Me And some others Thank you to the Marshall for there assistance! Please send your photos to the usual address:photos@shirelrc.com See you all again soon. Steve
  11. Nice install! Do you have an external speaker for the CB? And does the CB sit in a cradle of some sort behind the facia.
  12. I like the light painting! And the 101 is cool, that's definitely on the list of cars to own in the future. I might try and make it down next year! Steve
  13. Nick, is that a new bonnet? Very nice. Keep the pictures coming! Steve
  14. Hi, No help to the topic in hand, but what car does the seat come from as it looks quite comfortable? Steve
  15. Ooow....punches, that sounds tempting. 11th of October....I'll definitely have a rear winch in by them! See you all there. Steve
  16. Hi, Another enjoyable outing to Seven Sisters with the SLRC. Some pictures from the weekend: I will send these photos along with the others I took to photos@shirelrc.com so if any one else took any phots please send them in so that John can use them in the newsletter. Steve
  17. Hi, I guess it is fitted as standard to a D2, or are you fitting an aftermarket unit. It is just part of the exhaust system. If you are fitting it as an aftermarket accessory I would be careful as the ECU may not have the different calibration maps for the regeneration cycle. I don't know much about D2's so I would read up on it first. Hope this helps. Steve
  18. I'll be going, hopefully I/we can master the tullips! Steve
  19. I'll be there.....With my new rear winch bumper......it may even have a working winch on it, lets wait and see! I'll probably going up on the friday and try and get there for mid afternoon. Steve
  20. I suppose the next question is - whens the next punch challenge, could it be the one at seven sisters? Steve
  21. Thanks Dave. I'll have to start a build thread soon!! I wanted two reversing lights for better reward visibility and so I thought about reccessing two fog lights into the rear crossmember, it has standard spec jacking points, recovery points, removable mud flaps and I should hopefully have the winch on there next time you see it! Steve
  22. Why thank you, it was its first outing and I didn't even get stuck so I couldn't test out my new recovery points! That's probably not a bad idea! Steve
  23. Hi, I had a good time also, bought the parents along aswell! A few pictures from today. One of the punches Mine! Thats a nice rear bumper!! Jason aka Hoarebag This was taken after the contents in the rear landed in the passenger footwell! (well it sounded like it!) I found all the punches, but just couldn't get the last one, but I still came third! See you all at the next event and/or at Billing Steve
