  1. my project rr has been moved around a fair bit with the engine off, the steering box has leaked itself pretty much dry. It'll be interesting to see what happens when i get the engine running again.
  2. If you want to fit an ammeter, there's no reason why not to. The trouble is, to do the job properly, you need to use a shunted ammeter, which avoids running high current wires to the gauge. The trouble will be finding one at a price you want to pay, due to the accuracy needed to make the shunt, and ammeter (ok, it's a voltmeter), they aren't cheap.
  3. I'm pretty sure my trailer light flashes once when i indicate, and always has done.
  4. It'd make clutch master and slave cylinders easier, and brake callipers.
  5. The relay must be a 5 pin relay, i.e. it must have both an 87 (NO) and 87a (NC) pin. The wires for the LED can be as small as is practical in a landrover, it draws so little current. The coil also draws little current, something of the order of 1.0mm^2 will be fine. The triangle, Line and arrows is the symbol for an LED, the cathode (negative) is the flat line at the point of the arrow.
  6. A relay is probably the simplest, most robust solution, especially if you find a relay that only has a small coil current (i've got some micro-relays somewhere that draw a lot less than an auto relay) , not that it particularly matters as it's only energised whilst the engine is on.
  7. This was where the corsa got out (just) The slight incline caused a lot of people quite a bit of trouble.
  8. Fuel doesn't get sent to the turbo, turbo pressure 'gets sent' to the fuel pump.
  9. The field was a lot worse than that today, I was camped just to the left of your photo, in the DOC area. caravans and vehicles with road tyres were being towed out with the farmer's fastrac.
  10. I've just got back. The site is a mess, Vans were stuck, quite a lot of stalls were sat in 4" of mud and water. I was there from Thursday and it rained pretty much constantly. It definitely seemed quieter than previous years in terms of trade stands, there wasn't really anything that interesting. It was good to chat to Si though, and meet Fridge and Jez. Today saw the best weather of the weekend, which was very welcome.
  11. The biggest problem with solder joints is only when people don't do them properly and soak the inch either side of the join with solder, there's no need!
  12. what are you doing for more than 20 minutes in the shower?
  13. Jate rings are available practially anywhere. At least Equipe is the real mckoy, not ScrapIron copies.
  14. Surely all you need is a 2" receiver kit for your 90 (from anywhere, the UK most likely), and then a 2" receiver 2" ball from the US. Sounds like confusion over the receiver/hitch, and the ball.
  15. Pretty much, 85 needs +12v on it to close the relay, whether that 12v comes from a switch, or another circuit doesnt really matter. the warning light will probably be wired to the back of the switch its part of, just for simplicity. some switches are wired this way internally and just need a ground for the light. A (pedantic) point, a warning light as above will tell you that the switch is on, not that the relay or the worklight itself is working. A powerstation somewhere melted down because the warning light for a relief valve was wired to the switch, not the actual valve, via a sensor etc.
  16. Hullo Your switch with warning light should have a circuit diagram moulded into the side of it, this will determine how you should wire it up, though they're normally standard i think. I could dig one out if you'd like a hand. My diagram should explain what does what, and what its connected to. If it doesn't, just ask and I'll do my best.
  17. No idea if they'll fit or work, but i have some RRC rear door motors and working parts you're welcome to, if you want to have a go yourself.
  18. That picture of the turning lathe is rather cool.
  19. It's been infered, but not blatantly stated, but DO get everything in writing, you may come to rely on it further down the road. Whilst word of mouth may appear to get a quicker reaction, once this degenerates in to a "he-said-she-said" scenario, being able to provide copies of written correspondance will be very useful.
  20. Probably not something you should be caught saying in public...
  21. I've not found anything better than a standard D connector, there's Junior Timer Connectors, as used on a lot of cars, but they just don't go up to the sizes a D can offer. I tried a circular connector, it was more rugged than a D connector, but the pin density was low, 25 pins came out at something like 60mm od.
