  1. that tube looks quite thin, it could quite possibly be throttling the v8?
  2. I've got them on the top of all four springs. I think they make a difference to road noise - nothing huge or life changing, but noticable. I'd fit them again.
  3. I'm going there next weekend, from Sheffield, and i might be able to get them up to you with someone else.
  4. Spring Over Axle - bolting the springs to the top of the axle, rather than the bottom.
  5. You don't need to spend money on a dash. I made one from plywood, it does the job for me. the top will take 4 52mm gauges when i can afford them.
  6. Yuh, i had assumed the switch was single pole.
  7. That's the obvious way to do it - you're not switching the earth there. You could do it by always sending IN or OUT to all solenoid packs, and use the selector switch to ground the solenoid pack you want to work, BUT, - That's a hell of a lot of extra wire for the sake of three relays - You open up the possibility of a huge malfunction if a solenoid gets earthed some other way, such as water, a stray bit of wire etc.
  8. faff? Chock the wheels, jack one wheel up on whichever axle so the prop will rotate, ten seconds a nut with the air ratchet. done
  9. yup sounds like an airlock problem. bear in mind if the breather is small it will take time for fuel to flow in to that tank. fuel can only go in and quickly as air can get out.
  10. Maybe a top with more of a bar or pointer on it will allow you to flick it with your thumb you using six relays? or have you found DPDT relays? or are you switching the earth? ( i wouldn't)
  11. How long does it take with two spanners? 'cos it takes a LOT less, with the long socket and an air ratchet
  12. bet that's almost impossible to turn without taking your hand off the gearstick! easier to wire up though, as you said.
  13. That's me The white wire is the rev counter, which is not mandatory. the brown/yellow trace wire is the warning light wire, which is required.
  14. Yes it works, yes you could use it with a torque wrench. I have one, I use it with an air ratchet, hand ratchet etc. It generally only fits the nut on the most open side of the UJ, so it's still a bit of a faff, It's definitely a tool worth having though
  15. have you checked the ignition bulb? If you've got an A127 type alternator you can pull the reg/brush pack to have a look, and/or replace it.
  16. The size of wire used to feed the switching side of the relay usually comes down to practicallity, you don't want to be running really light wire that may get snagged or trapped and broken etc. In terms of working out current draw and loads etc. V=I x R P = I x V Those two should sort you out for most things.
  17. If you're logged in, you can sort results by distance, rather than time left, price etc.
  18. Agreed, I've only got two at the moment, because the third died. I miss it.
  19. Also, make sure the wheels you get have the correct PCD - defender/disco1/rrc are all the same, but i believe P38/D2/newRR/D3 are different.
  20. They can be as long as you like, if you pay for them. It's just the standard charge that goes up to 1m.
  21. Nope, misted in to the induction pipework. getting the misting right is quite important!
  22. so, is a discovery PS pump bracket the same?
  23. ditto the above, looking at the pushrods will tell you more. The belt on my 200tdi stripped about ten teeth, rather than snapping. it bent all 8 pushrods.
  24. The mounting plate has a 1/2" square hole in it, so you can use a drive bar and extension to tension the belt. That looks like a defender 200tdi, i was wondering if the bracket was the same.
