  1. Yep. Genuine should be in a Land Rover bag/box. Send them back - if you specified genuine, they have not supplied what you ordered.
  2. Ok, having had a bit more chance ogo for a test drive, it does seem to be pulsing when pushed hard - which makes me think the fuel pump isn't keeping up. Sounds like the tanks got to come out then.... yay.
  3. Cool - filter change it is then, and we'll see if that quietens it down.... otherwise I'll drop the tank Thanks chaps Mark
  4. James, pictures of it installed would be really good.
  5. My 110 has started making a loud humming noise from the rear when the ignition is on - I can only assume this is the fuel pump playing up? The truck seems to run fine, so I have a few quesions for anyone more clued up on td5's than me... - Am I right is suspecting the fuel pump? - if not, then any other suggestions? - if so does this signify it end? - Any guesses as to how long I have got before it dies completely? any help muchos appreciated. Cheers Mark
  6. Ours is mounted onto the cage - the cage mounts directly to the chassis, so all the force is transferred to the right places. Obviously, if you don't have a rear hoop, hen this is not feasible, but if you don't have a rear hoop, then it does beg the question as to where you are going to mount the fairlead?
  7. i guess they could be bodged to fit, but the d2 load area is about 4" longer than on a d1, so it wouldn't be a straight swap. hth mark
  8. Door top channel is fairly easy to get hold of, but I would suggest contacting the series3 club and getting some of thier plastic channel (rather than the felt over steel channel the was originally fitted) as it doesn't rust or degrade in the same way - series 3 club shop hth Mark
  9. Caravan shops also sell pots of cleaner for doing exactly this. they aren't expensive, and work well. hth Mark
  10. I think it's purely a legal issue - the wellington site is split over 2 areas joined by a public road - in order to get from one to the other the car must legally be able to drive on a public road. Trailering between isn't an option as there isn't the room on the second half of the site. Mark
  11. As has been said, the Transfer box should use EP90. Depending on which gearbox you have (you don't say) it should be either EP90 (for series boxes) or ATF (or MTF) for later defender boxes (LT77 or R380). Generally EP90 is actually somewhat thicker than engine oil so I am not sure where the concern is... hth Mark
  12. To be fair, the other 2 oils are similar and would also work but the book says ep90, that's whet I tend to use. hth Mark
  13. Transfer box and diffs should be EP90.
  14. I have found that with crimped ring terminals on 35mm^2 cable and glue lined heatshrink over the terminal for all but the connection area, then the rubber boots available on vehicle wiring products (code RS126) are a really good tight fit over both the cable and the terminal post that they really don't need to be shrunk for a good seal. hth Mark
  15. I believe road legal and MoT'd is the requirement....
  16. James, the YRM box appears to be made of aluminium, so welding is unlikely. a rivetted repair should be more than adequate. That said, we did this Job on Oranges 90 earlier this year and it's not a nice one to do! Mark
  17. Out of curiosity, would you have paid £22 for a days access to a site, with a free wash off at the end?
  18. The milage on the truck is 150k so if it hasn't been done, it is probably due one. Just been quoted over £400 for the part from LR main dealer though, which puts me off the idea a bit though... Cheers Mark
  19. I am in the process of changing the clutch on my TD5 defender... I am in 2 minds about whether to change the flywheel whilst I am at it - On the one hand, it makes sense to do it whilst it is apart, as I am aware they can be troublesome, however, on the other hand, I have no reason to suspect this one, and they are stupid expensive to replace. Does anyone have any accumulated wisdom to add to my dilemma? My other issue is if I were to change it, do I go for another dual mass item or a much simplified single mass flywheel from the likes of rakeway? Any contributions much appreciated. Cheers Mark
  20. As has been said, Dixon Bate supply the NATO hitch to utilities companies for non-military applications, therefore I would have thought it would have to have EU approval? Would it be worth contacting dixon bate directly to get them to confirm the situation??
  21. Another vote for the 'really useful boxes' have been using them in the back of various trucks for a few years now, and they stand up to all but serious abuse.... Mark
  22. I think the main problem would be making it removable from the cooling system - you don't want to have to bleed the coolant every time you fancy a bit of chicken chasseur....
  23. There must be some photo's to post up though???
