  1. BTW He Means it when he says MTs are a must! We really struggled with 255/75-16 BFG MTs on the disco.... Good fun site though, and am looking forward to the next punch challenge in Feb! Cheers Mark
  2. Yep, another vote for Ripley (real name Graham Antil, bodyshop is called Autocraft - I will find the website in a moment!) I have had to use his services twice this year (not for LR stuff) and he has been excellent. Cheers Mark
  3. Hi Tobes, There are a lot of the Horsham and District 4x4 Club members who post on this forum, and also do the marshalling at Shoreham and Slindon Pay and Play sites. We tend to go to other events rather than organise our own, although Paul Wightman has organised a few winch challenges... Anyway, If you want some more details, I am not the best person to ask, as I tend to be on the fringes a bit, but PM Paul Wightman (that's his username too.. ) and see what he has to say! you could also have a look here Cheers Mark
  4. Stussy, As you seem to have found out, disco's are notorious for leaking. There are two issues to look at - stopping the water getting in, and repairing the damage where it has already come in. There is a LR technical bulletin about common ingress points - if you do a search in the disco forum it was posted up somewhere. In terms of repairing, anything is possible depending on how much effort or £££ you want to throw at it. The boot floor is available as a replacement part, and by the sounds of yours, then it should be a relatively simple replacement. The footwells will need patching is suspect. I did mine, and they still let water in! As trev mentioned, I have tried to document what I have done on mine in my Disco Blog thread in the Members vehicles forum. Cheers Mark
  5. As Trev says, not a difficult job to do, but may be made easier if you make yourself something to lock the flange with. I made this: Cheers Mark
  6. I seem to remember it was a similar temperature in both those pictures too! Mark
  7. Cheers, they are the ones you said originally, but I thought I had better check... Mark
  8. Chris, Can you confirm which maps are required for the treasure hunt? Cheers Mark
  9. Will the 100A Disco alternator fit a 200 or are they mounted on the other side of the engine? ta Mark
  10. I think you would have to go up in thickness to get the strength. The pressed floor panel is atually pretty strong - much more so than a plain sheet. I didn't have any issues with cleaning up the spotwelds on the edges - mainly cos there wern't any edges left!
  11. Ah! It's always good when someone who knows answers these questions!
  12. Did you measure how deep the former was? As you say 1.5" is just over 38mm so that does sound slack. How does the machinethat the formers are for work? Is there another (straight) half to the former that sits inside the curved half? If so, then the clearence couls be for that. I would go with Si, in that a 1.5" fromer is for 1.5" pipe, and 48mm tube would need a former marked as 48mm... Cheers Mark
  13. b*gger too slow! looks like someone got a good deal.
  14. Done - I tend to agree with Chris, why should someones ability to spell determine their rights? I would hope that the intention was clear enough that the spelling would be unimportant... Mark
  15. Thanks for the pictures chaps, I decided I should sort this out today, so I did a tour of all the local exhaust places and some motor factors too. Strangely none of them had sections in stock, and very few had any scrap stuff. As a last resort, I went into kwik fit, and they were more than happy to let me rummage around thier scrap area. I managed to find a very nice looking system which had a really long run of straight pipe, and a couple of bends, and to cap it off, was stainless. It looked about the right size and must have come of some high power saloon car. Anyway, I hacked the backbox off one end and the flexi joint off the other, and they were more than happy for me to take it away! Result. Got home, hacked the back box of the disco, only to find that not only was my bargain bit of pipe about the right size, it was the perfect size to just slide over the existing pipe - double result! So this is what I ended up with: The hole is a little low, but thats just where it ended up! I havn't decided if I ought to do something with the edge of the hole in the panel yet? The new bit is just held on with a couple of exhaust clamps (bringing the price of this mod up to £2.96 for 2x57mm exhaust clamps from Halfords). The fit on the pipes was so good I was utterly amazed! The old hanger was used - bent a bit, and welded to the new pipe. Seems to work well. Cheers Mark
  16. I will be bringing the D1, the wife, and possibly another friend... Not sure if that helps you, me or in fact anyone... Cheers Mark
  17. Don't forget that posts in the classified forum don't contribute to your overall post count.
  18. I would be making lots of noise at the bus company right about now... I know how you feel. I have just collected my car from the body shop after a neighbor reversed into the front wing a couple of weeks ago. I managed to convince them that they wanted to pay up though....
  19. Would love to Graham, but after 3 and a half years, I think they might get upset if I walk back in and ask for a new laptop!
  20. yeah, was eyeing up one of thesewhich would be kinda pointless with USB1... The Fast time to first fix would be nice cos the CF one id dog slow from cold. Cheers Mark
  21. Laptop is a Dell L400, so only USB1 on board. As you say, probably worth getting a usb2 pcmcia card... Cheers Mark
  22. Been looking at the USB GPS Mice things on eBlag, but wondered if anyone was using one? Up to now I have been using a Compact Flash based GPS in my IPAQ but I want to use a GPS with my laptop, and USB seems like a whole lot easier than trying to get the CF card to work though the PCMCIA slot... [oooh I just read that back, and there's a lot of acronyms there... ] So does anyone have any direct experience of these? Are they any good? Cheers Mark
  23. I can't talk about any of the high tech manufacturing process Nick - all top secret Mark
