  1. It's horses for courses really. The 6x6 pinz is far more stable that the 4x4, and at any speed over rough terrian (ie un metalled roads, rather than through challenge type stuff) the pinz generally out performs the Land rover - belive me I have tried to keep up! Incidentally I am sitting here with one of pinzgauer's development engineers.... Mark
  2. I have to say that I rate Eibach as well. They don't seem to get involved in the off-road stuff, but their road stuff is excellent.
  3. Yeah, so a similar length and say around 200 lb/in. maybe a touch less sounds like a good spring to me... Mark

depends how you define 4x4 - I bet they are not including Toyota/ford/isuzu/etc pickups and crewcabs. I can't imagine any of them are petrol.
  5. Hey, at least we know that one dealer in the world is still in touch with real grass-roots land rover owners.... ... at least he is when he's listening... Does this mean we are no longer independant - "LR4x4.com proudly sponsored by Land Rover Falklands" Mark
  6. I was thinking along similar lines - I would like something the same free length as red/whites but stiffer. I have red/whites all round (with 2" spacers on the rear), and as it stands, the vehicle is level, but as soon as you fill it up with fuel, recovery gear, lunch etc, there is a definate tendancy for the back end to dip. I have something for you anyway, so will probably drop in tomorrow and discuss if you are around. ta Mark
  7. I am pretty sure I have seen a SIII in a WW2 film - some american thing with a pink submarine....
  8. But back to the important stuff John - Got any progress pictures of the 109... Mark
  9. lol, no problem. D90SV was advertising one very cheap on here recently. Have a look in the classifieds. You don't say where you are, might be worth adding that to your profile... Cheers Mark
  10. The Disco was never fitted with the 2.5TD (sometimes called a 19J engine) as fitted to defenders. As onions has suggested, the adverts are probably done by people who know they have a 2.5l turbo disel engune, but in a disco that shiuld be a 200, or later 300 TDI. hope that helps Mark
  11. 2x 38mm thick ones in the disco - 50mm would probably be better wit a heavy car, but I have not had a problem with these. No clever holder or anything, just bungied down: Cheers Mark
  12. Sam has no problem reading the map, so long as you are not moving at the same time, and you remind her that you need to know where to go... She is looking like the prime candidate at the moment though, provided she isn't working. Cheers Mark
  13. Excellent! Just need to find someone who can read a map to ride shotgun... Cheers Chris, Mark
  14. Oit Mr Monster! My White one looks Ok... Ok, it doen't look great but it came that colour ... I liked the Yellow/Black US one that was posted a few weeks ago. I'd go down that sort of route for an off roader! Has anyone done a Tiger Striped disco yet? Oooo here come the bad taste police to cart me away.....
  15. Chris, I'll have that place then if it is still available... Cheers Mark
  16. So is anyone else interested? Would be good to see a few more different varieties of winch represented... Mark
  17. I saw these on eBay recently. They seem a reasonable price... Mark
  18. I didn't see it, but I did read a fair bit about it here Cheers Mark
  19. Tonk, any pix of how you've mounted it to a TDI? cheers Mark
  20. My disco one had a large spline in one position, so you could only put the arm back in one place. Is your steering damper limiting the movement? Mark
  21. I bought this set last time it was on offer too. It is 8mm - 19mm in 1mm increments - it includes odd sizes like 15 and 18mm... Personally I don't like the flex head ones, but the fixed ones are the excellent. Cheers Mark
  22. more winch wierdness - A Hydraulic Husky?
  23. found this on eBay: Superwinch Ox Whilst I am not in the market for another winch, I have never come across one of these and wondered it anyone has used one? Looks kinda like a highline husky.... curiously, Mark
  24. Well, everyone who said it was the steering ujs - well done, and thanks! They were somewhat siezed and caked in carp so a good dowsing in WD40 has got them to move again, and the steering is now much closer to how it should be. I will replace the uj's soon, but this gets it mobile... Cheers all for the help Mark
