andy _1
I am going to make a set and I would like opinions on 50mm or 60mm round tube or 50mm or 60mm square box section. Cant make up my mind. Any options / preferences? Thanks andy
Stellaghost
Made mine out of 50x30 box section can Jack off them if required regards Stephen
Mutley
I would have thought round for least surface contact on rocks or trees? Flat surface would give more resistance and cause more drag plus giving chance of being gripped where as rounded will deflect and come away from the obstacle, but again if you are having to force your way through you will have a smaller contact surface. Just my opinion, Andy

Gazzar
Box can look better, more subtle, on a defender. Also, on box, you can have jack holes for a high lift. But round is nice, too.
FridgeFreezer
Have to say I'm very pleased with the set Dan made from square - contoured to follow Series sill profile, with a couple of nubs welded underneath to give a hi-lift something to locate against; Jacking point detail
bishbosh
I am going to be controversial and say box and tube! Here's what I made a few years ago.
Escape
Another vote for box section. I had rounds on first, then changed to box section when I got an external roll cage (that didn't fit with the first rock&treesliders in place). Easier to get in and out of the car, the round ones tend to be slippery. Filip

Mutley
I have the same ones as above ^^^ Gives me peace of mind when parking at local supermarket knowing that if a muppet parks too close, it's their door that comes off worse, same as driving down narrow roads and the other vehicle isn't keen to move over, it's their motor with the black go faster stripe down it
