L19MUD
How much synthetic rope at 10mm or 11mm fits on a standard Superwinch Ep9? It seems to come in 30m lengths pre terminated which would be ideal.. If it fits! Searched everywhere but can't find the answer. This will be for my road truck so 10mm will probably be fine given the occasional use it will probably have. steve b
30m is the usual length , not sure of best suppliers apart from David Bowyer - there is Bickers Handling and Ruskin Ropes more locally . The build is looking sweet Steve

miketomcat
I've got 30m on mine. Don't put more on though with use the rope grows a bit plus once you've got the rope bunched at one end your very close to snapping the tie bars out of the casings (don't ask me how I know this ). Stellaghost
Interested in this as I'm close to putting my 8274 back on and changing from wire to rope ( some weight saving compared to my axles ) there seems to be quite a choice on eBay but what's good and what's not ? L19MUD
I have no idea on what is good or not....but I was considering this. I think 10mm should be fine? 10,500kg load rating. Can always double line pull https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Synthetic-winch-rope-Dyneema-SK75-spec-choice-of-colour-and-size-10-or-11mm/264354646969?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dd855f04c55c4456e822606be6260924f%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D153986869098%26itm%3D264354646969%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ab01cd533-c806-11ea-9d39-74dbd1802fcd|parentrq%3A5bde533b1730a99086eab859fffc6a6e|iid%3A1
Mo Murphy
If 30m is not enough for projected use, you can always buy an extension rope. Mo
landroversforever
IMO speak to Goodwinch. a) they'll know how much fits sensibly and b)they do both their usual blue rope and they do a cheaper alternative. IMO I'd rather buy a cheap rope from a trusted supplier like them.
miketomcat
Both my ropes are Marlow I wouldn't buy anything else but I'm in the marine industry. Most ep9's came with 25m of dyneema. Mike
L19MUD
I'm way too tight to buy Marlow or the Goodwinch ropes for this application! For the competition truck it is different as there is a safety issue to worry about. The application here is pulling the odd dead car out of where it is resting or onto a trailer etc and then self recovery if I make an idiot of myself and get stuck on a field. I really hate wire ropes with a passion so willing to pay to put synthetic on. Also I like the fact you can get them in different colours
miketomcat
I like purple.... mind they go a light grey soon enough. Mike
Daan
If you winch on one side, 30 m will bunch enormously. The distance to the bars is very little so unless you winch completely straight, it turns messy. Go with 9mm thick if you need 30 m length.
