Green200tdi
Might be a strange question but refitting old wings to newly painted bulkhead would you use a silicone or just fit them as normal? Think I may rub them down fresh paint on this part, sorry just getting ideas not sure what others have done.
Retroanaconda
Just fit them dry. There’s no reason to use silicone - and many reasons not to! Some fresh paint is a good idea though.
miketomcat
Never use silicone! * Mike *Except round a bath or perhaps as instant gasket to get you home.
Peaklander
If you use silicone it will glue them together, making it impossible to separate later, unless you use a blade. That would be very difficult to do.
Ibex94
1 Never use silicone - Satan's juice👿 2 If you rub down and repaint the wing ends you will need an etch primer to get it to key to aluminium.
Snagger
I’d clean up the corrosion, apply a safe acid to kill it (I have had satisfactory results with the steel rust killers), etch and repaint. Do the same to the A pillar to encapsulate both metals. Plastic washers behind the bolt heads will help a lot at preventing reoccurrence, as would a dollop of grease between the faces and around the bolt holes and on the bolts themselves. Sigi_H
Silicone produces acid when hardening. You don't want to have that. If you want to seal use PU sealants. There are advantages, when no water can run down to the outside of the footwell on the bulkhead, when the wing is not glued to the bulkhead, but sealed on top and on the sides. landroversforever
If you seal it and you’ve ever got to get it off then you’ll kill the panel.
steve b
A layer of grease and put it together, then wipe off any that comes out of the joint. Steve
Sigi_H
Sealing is not gluing. Sealing is only done with a strip of PU on the outside of the seam between bulkhead and wing. Thats enough

Thats enough That's still going to make removal difficult, but also I really don't see any point in sealing here anyway.
