David Sparkes
I thought this a slightly different take on a newly introduced variant of the 'new Defender' family. Notable points: Worse than expected fuel consumption from the 300 diesel engine. Better than expected luggage capacity, especially considering skis were carried internally. I''m not in the market for any of the New Defender range (cost & size) so cannot comment more. Regards.
Bowie69
I did see that, the fuel consumption was a surprise, however it may be in part down to a brand new very tight engine, modern stuff is such fine tolerance it takes a while for things to bed in. Granted it may not be as good as the sport long term, but to be so much worse I can't see it being just because it is a different shape.
Anderzander
What was the consumption ?
Bowie69
30% more than the sport, which I think managed nearly 50mpg.
Lightning
50mpg? l've got a 2022 90 with the D250 (3.0 diesel) and the best l can get on a run is 40mpg. Round town, driving between customers l am averaging 25mpg although if l drive really carefully l can get 28.
Bowie69
Yep, the Sport is just way more slippery it seems.
elbekko
I just don't see that MPG as shocking though? It's a big brick, it getting anything above 30 is a modern miracle.
Retroanaconda
Indeed. Mine averages 33mpg which I’m quite happy with. If I wanted frugal I wouldn’t drive a 2.5 tonne permanent 4x4 brick.
Bowie69
33mpg is WAAAAAY more than my 91 2.3l 20V Audi gets. 1

A quick Google is suggesting a lot less, so I wonder if 50mpg is not correct?

Happyoldgit
Yep, the latest Harry's Garage about his choice and the state of the electric vehicle market etc is well worth a watch.
landroversforever
Looking at the 130..... I can't help but think the rear overhang proportions are far better than the 110.
Lightning
l had a look at one at the dealer yesterday (the 130) lt actually works really well, so long as you need a vehicle that size. lt would make a great family wagon, particularly if you were using it for holidays. lf anything it does seem to work better than the 110.
