stuck
After being let down by a fleabay seller I've been forced to fit two Britpart "HD" UJ's to the rear prop of my 110. My 110 is a 4.6 with a big lift & 35" tyres. I of course drive with the upmost care & respect for all things mechanical Anyone want to take a guess how long it will be before I have to take the prop off again? I'm an eternal optimist so I give it 12 months...

CwazyWabbit
What's the prize? A BritPart UJ? How many miles do you do a year? I'm saying 112 days .....
stuck
What's the prize? A BritPart UJ? Hadn't thought about that! Prize will be an envelope full of mangled bits IF they fail (you never know)
Frax
Sad to say but I fitted some a couple of years ago and they only lasted about 3 months or about 200 miles. I was running 35" at the time with a 2" lift. I would order some new ones now and they may arrive in time. Sorry bud
stuck
200 miles?! Blimey. I've still got OEM ones on order but I think I'll leave the Britpart ones in & see how long they do last.
Anderzander
I think they will be noisey within 154 miles
stuck
I think they will be noisey within 154 miles That's a very precise number. Is it based on experience?
Anderzander
If I've remembered correctly it's based on someone I knew who had a lifted 110 on 35's ...... Though his lift was causing trouble anyhow.
CwazyWabbit
That's a very precise number. Is it based on experience? He's gonna pop over and hit them with a hammer when they reach 153 miles just to be sure ......

stuck
are you going to grease them or? what would be your towing "duty cycle"? what engine? i can be quite competetive haha I'm going to have a look at what grease nipples we have at work as the ones fitted are so short I can't get a grease gun on them. I've no intention of towing. Engine is a 4.6 v8.
discomikey
215 miles without grease 244 with haha
Bowie69
Have you actually been able to fit them? My experience with britpart mechanical bits is that often they won't even make it onto the car!
neil3728
As your 110 is a 4.6 with a big lift & 35" tyres. (copied from your first post) I'll have a couple of guesses depending on driving style. 200 miles if, you drive like a girl. or 70 miles if drive it like you stole it. cookie64
A rear prop on a 110 is very long and without massive angles so i would say longer. i would normally describe myself as a britpart hater but i had a whole britpart rear prop on my ninety for ages and i dont treat props very nicely it was an emergency spare when i snapped my gwyn lewis one haha, anyway it lasted 2 years, with lots of abuse, never greased and me wishing it would die so i had a good reason to replace my good failed prop, it also survived a 5000 mile trip to the arctic circle and back. im going to guess that this thread will be lost by time time it fails on you, and i assure you i hate britpart, the only reason it will last is becasue of stuff-all horrible forces on a rear prop and britpart stuff hates you more than you hate it so if you want it to fail then it wont haha. if you really want to see how quick they fail then fit them on the front and come for a play in north wales, ill kill it in a day
CwazyWabbit
...... and britpart stuff hates you more than you hate it so if you want it to fail then it wont haha...... ROFL That brightened up my 1st Monday back at work
Anderzander
Yes this will be like that old Eric Morecambe advert where the car kept calling past the garage and not needing fuel or oil ...
stuck
And the answer is... 127 miles Pulling away from a junction tonight resulted in a bang followed by a rhythmic twang, twang, twang. Haven't crawled underneath yet but I think I know what I'm going to find. At least I have an OEM set in the workshop now.
