Sweepstake?

Recommended Posts

After being let down by a fleabay seller I've been forced to fit two Britpart "HD" UJ's to the rear prop of my 110.

My 110 is a 4.6 with a big lift & 35" tyres.

I of course drive with the upmost care & respect for all things mechanical

Anyone want to take a guess how long it will be before I have to take the prop off again?

I'm an eternal optimist so I give it 12 months...

Sad to say but I fitted some a couple of years ago and they only lasted about 3 months or about 200 miles.

I was running 35" at the time with a 2" lift.

I would order some new ones now and they may arrive in time.

Sorry bud

If I've remembered correctly it's based on someone I knew who had a lifted 110 on 35's ......

Though his lift was causing trouble anyhow.

Ah, ok.

I'm still going to leave them fitted & see how many miles I get before they start clunking.

Thanks.

are you going to grease them or? what would be your towing "duty cycle"? what engine?

i can be quite competetive haha

I'm going to have a look at what grease nipples we have at work as the ones fitted are so short I can't get a grease gun on them.

I've no intention of towing.

Engine is a 4.6 v8.

A rear prop on a 110 is very long and without massive angles so i would say longer.

i would normally describe myself as a britpart hater but i had a whole britpart rear prop on my ninety for ages and i dont treat props very nicely :moglite: it was an emergency spare when i snapped my gwyn lewis one haha, anyway it lasted 2 years, with lots of abuse, never greased and me wishing it would die so i had a good reason to replace my good failed prop, it also survived a 5000 mile trip to the arctic circle and back.

im going to guess that this thread will be lost by time time it fails on you, and i assure you i hate britpart, the only reason it will last is becasue of stuff-all horrible forces on a rear prop and britpart stuff hates you more than you hate it so if you want it to fail then it wont haha.

if you really want to see how quick they fail then fit them on the front and come for a play in north wales, ill kill it in a day :moglite:

And the answer is...

127 miles

Pulling away from a junction tonight resulted in a bang followed by a rhythmic twang, twang, twang.

Haven't crawled underneath yet but I think I know what I'm going to find.

At least I have an OEM set in the workshop now.
