Dodgy defender eying up

I don't know if I am being parnoid but just so others are aware I believe my Land Rover was clocked/eyed up by the occupants of another Land Rover 90 in South Worcestershire near Pershore this Sunday evening just gone.

This 90 came in the front of the near deserted pub car park, went out the back past the pub then came back out and sat opposite mine at the end of the car park by the road for about 2 minutes before heading back off at speed in the direction it came.

I don't know if I'm just being over sensitive given the number that get stolen and someone was genuinely lost/wondering if the pub looked good for Sunday dinner (i.e. Are there any customers?) still I thought I'd best share encase anyone else has seen the same vehicle acting in a dodgy way or knows that my concerns are misplaced.

The vehicle in question was a very shiny and smart dark blue de cat TD5 blue 90 with a white Roof and aftermarket alloys of the terrafirma variety with BFG all terrains. Reg number as we clocked it back is **** NWA and pictured below.

I don't know if as a member of jolly public I can look up where this machine is registered, I'm sure there must be a way for those who want to mind?

Why don't you ask the police if it's on the stolen register ? Seems to me that a crim wouldn't use their ow defender to go out finding other trucks to nick

One of us has done so already using the details leafleted out at the Malvern Land Rover show a few months ago, it appears we ar being targeted specifically here in South Worcestershire at the moment.

There is the argument of hiding in plain site mind?

I would be pretty annoyed if I found a picture of my truck posted for this purpose.

Apologies, I had not considered it the other way around there, my lack of foresight, mods is there a way this post can be moved to a members only area or erased once it's purpose has been served so no one can dig it up in future?

I agree. It was maybe just a fellow LR enthusiast taking a nosey.

There's no point in being overly paranoid. You can only do what you can do. Fit as much security as you can and get on with it.

I hope so, it's just the nature of coming into the car park, swiftly round the back then back out the front pulling opposite one of only two cars in the car park and then heading off at speed in the same direction. Not really a pattern of life behaviour.

Security is already fitted and we seek to block it in at night, not that that helped a local one which was in a locked barn blocked in by another pickup when that was taken overnight,

I'd be delighted if it were mine you clocked personally, at least I'd know people were looking out for the security of each others vehicles.

Really? So now, if there are any "undesirables" reading this thread, they are now aware of a nice TD5 that goes by the reg shown above in the South Worcs area. That's not great for the guy who owns that vehicle if he happens to be a regular law abiding LR owner.

Unless I'm reading this all wrong of course....

That's just so wrong.

Morning All !

Right, the issue here is

1. Is it a genuine pikey stalker of LRs

or

2. Some poor sod just admiring another LR who would not be "Too Chuffed" to have his LR reg no picture etc on a www public forum having done sod all wrong

so

Wiv me Admin hat on I have

Tweaked the picture leaving just the last 3 letters of the 90 in question - this gives enough

info to be able to do a spot of a "Similar" blue 90 if loitering

But

Removed the 1st parts of the Reg Number from all the posts to make the thread leavable, if it is a Stalker then

its always useful to have a heads up.

Hopefully the above ^^^ makes sense and gives us all inc the driver of the blue 90 a balanced Thread ?

Nige

My take on the world is, there's no point trying to hide the fact you own a landy, and it's desirable.

My view is, if other people spot my 88 or my 109, hopefully with me in it, and post it for the world to see, at least I know people are actively looking out for landy's.

My view is, is pointless all this reg removing stuff. If you get cloned, it's a chore but you can almost always prove your innocence and cases are revoked, so I don't bother.

I understand your argument but why make it easy for the scumbags? After all it's no hardship to hide your reg..

Edit: if someone posted a pic of my vehicle along with reg and geographic details in a public forum for all and sundry to see, I'd be pi**ed..

Although I agree with not specifically identifying some one's pride and joy. If people wanted to clone another vehicle there are links to sites which show the live feeds from traffic cameras on motorways so getting a reg no to match another vehicle's model and colour would not be difficult. It appears that this particular 90's drivers action caused concern and should therefore be challenged if the owner of that reg saw this post and realised that it was not his vehicle, he would be aware that it had been cloned or if the vehicle is legitimate and he was just being nosey then he could offer a response and the post could be amended.

There are a few threads now that would perhaps benefit from a members can view only section. The other one that springs to mind is the ebay thread. It can be done as the video forum is protected. At least having somewhere to post semi sensitive stuff would stop random google searches stumbling across stuff?? Just a thought.
