  1. According to this : http://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/downloads/preview/lucas-10as-alarm-nanocom-evolution .......it's notified by the red light on the speedo. I wonder why it does that then. Mine don't flash on opening now - whereas they used to and still do on locking.
  2. Did I read that the indicators stop flashing on opening when the plip batteries are low ?
  3. That actually happened to a company a friend of mine owns - not with Land Rover - but it was very damaging.
  4. I extended mine up the A pillar - made quite a big difference. Not upto modern car standards - but from the right side it now works from about 20ft, whereas before I was stood next to the door.
  5. I've read that the aftermarket bosses tend to be very deep - and bring the wheel closer to you: is that right ?
  6. Thanks Jame - I've got that bit. I'd actually forgotten wether it had one - but the manual states not for my serial number. The manual states the bolts are just done to 25nm - doesn't seem very much!
  7. Just found a video on YouTube - they tap it in with a soft hammer and then wind it in the last bit with 2 bolts.
  8. Can I ask a basic one ... When you refit the input gear bearing carrier do you put a bit of rtv on - then just wind it in using the bolts to get it square ? Then pop the bolts out and refit the pto cover ?
  9. Local papers report on it. http://m.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/14131222.Kankku_defends_itself_after_customers_felt__exploited_and_ripped_off__during_flooding/?ref=twt&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  10. :o. http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/321939187924
  11. Starting to think I shouldn't put a diesel in my series anymore
  12. Have you seen the cuts to the DoT ? Pretty radical.
  13. There was a documentary recently on the Diesel engine - focusing on how much it is used in industry - trains, ships, and so on - the list was endless..... Banning them would be crippling for so many companies I think.
  14. My friend drives auto Pajeros and seems to be able to get anywhere a Defender can.
  15. A red Td5 90 was stolen in Cumbria last night, PK04 FJJ - if anyone hears anything could you let me know please. https://mobile.twitter.com/ruslandvalley/status/664346166075777024/photo/1
  16. It's amazing it didn't wear terribly if it was that far out ?
  17. What Nige is talking about it a bit different - that's bad behaviour, which of course isn't dependent upon being interested in bling. Those guys are just jerks. For the bling scene itself, it isn't for me - but there are a few mods come out of it that I like. For the rest - whatever they want to do is fine by me.
  18. I'd consider the opportunity of replacing that awful swan neck for a discovery arm.
  19. My thoughts are: Plastic pre-insulated crimps don't look very professional and certainly not OE - so I use non insulated with the clear insulation covers. Build it like a factory loom - 25 wires all the same length coming into the back of the console are always going to look like a birds nest and they are never done like that by the factory. So I work out a route - loom to first switch (shortest wires), on from that to the 2nd are slightly longer, on from that to the 3rd etc. If there are tons of switches you can run more than one loom to it - but it's still about grouping the wires together. Tape it up, or use trunking, whatever looks factory for you - but something that makes it hold its shape and look like a loom instead of a mass of wires. Headers - how you put multiple live and earth feeds makes a difference to how it looks and can reduce the amount of wiring. So far on my Td5 I've done emery thing by tapping into empty fuse and header slots - but when I end up with whole new circuits I'll be looking for some factory type headers if possible. A picture part way through my winch switch installation, using block connectors but showing the routing and lengths.
  20. Mine is on the grill .... I'll try and find a photo.
  21. I love them. I think old tractors are THE most relaxing things to drive. I wish I had a field to justify buying one !
  22. My soldering iron has stopped heating up and is presumably deceased. More accurately I have actually had a soldering gun, and liked the fact that it got hotter the longer you held the trigger - a control which seemed to cover jobs that would have needed a few sizes of soldering irons. I'm open to a change though so wondered what is everyone's thoughts on irons / guns ? And if anyone has any recommendations of either type ?
