  1. same as always but with a galv chassis and bulkhead...
  2. Dave if you have any details that would be great, I'm sure I know someone who'd be after space for a Discovery and some series bodywork My dad has visited pretty much every farm in a 10 mile radius of Davenham! Distance not a problem as I have to commute from Liverpool to Lostock anyway!
  3. I pay £3k per year for 1000 ish square feet of slightly leaky barn in cheshire Theres a real shortage of places round here though and you're looking at 6k per year for anything bigger... Mike
  4. Gutted for you mate but I'll keep an eye out for you Mike
  5. The only way to guard against a hiab is to think like a biker and chain the back axle or chassis down to big chunky ground anchor... prob only suitable for occasional use vehicles though!
  6. Its what I did with my bulkhead and my back door, Problem was I did them in winter and come the first sunny day of spring the excess decided to flow out over my dads drive I'd give it plenty of sun time to drain! Mike
  7. I think it looks good, if you were worried about corrosion nows the ideal time to waxoyl it, if you stand it upside down and tape over the holes you can literally fill it up, and in this weather it should flow nicely without faffing about with thinners, when your done just turn it the right way up and let it drain for a couple of days... Mike
  8. Cool thanks Will hopefully be able to get back to the unit at beginning of July, am stuck in hospital or the library at the mo! No news from Richards yet... Mike
  9. Ouch thats nasty, been there and done that, stick with the cream you got from A&E, theres a risk of infection due to there being a break in the continuity of the skin surface, therefore it can let bugs in, if it gets more painful/swollen/red/pus filled etc then go back to A&E asap, the earlier its treated the better... On a comedy note, my mate went home from a house party absolutely wasted and tried to make himself a pot noodle at 4am... completely missed the pot and poured the boiling water onto his feet
  10. I got a portamig 181 off Steve, same as above, great service, fantastic welder... Mike
  11. Hi Firstly is the gauge reading correctly, IIRC you have to fit the defender sender... Secondly how old is the box, has it got enough of the correct oil in it? Welcome to the forum by the way! Mike
  12. Hi Ralph the 130 and 110 springs are the same on the front nrc9448/9449, interestingly this is the same number as the HD 90 rears, so it looks like the HD 110 fronts are the same spring as the 90 rears. The rear 110HD and 130 are the same spring too! Thats the first part of my question answered then Is it worthwhile fitting the 130 innner helper springs, the nrc6904, nrc6389 are 330lb in, the 130 inners are 140 lb in or will it make the ride too hard? Mike
  13. Hi Thinking of changing the shocks and springs on my 110, It has a +2" lift at the mo and I want to go back to standard height ish, (want to get 285 BFGs on) apart from anything else its use has changed and the insurance company always assume I'm a chav when I tell them about modified suspension Its a 110 van, galv chassis, 'HFH style' 'substantial' winch bumper and husky, big heavy brownchurch rack + tent, extra batteries, etc etc, basically its a bit lardy... I used to use it for my mobile workshop and P&P etc whereas now its more 'overlandy' and will be doing longish camping trips here and abroad etc as well as the odd P&P and laning... My choices at the mo are... HD LR genuine springs front and back, or HD 90 rear springs F and 130 Springs rear with or without the helper spring? I'll be keeping my Ironman shocks for now but when pennies allow I'd like to change them for correct length ones, I was thinking of OEM ones or decent aftermarket like deCarbon? Ta Mike
  14. Wot he said! beat me to it, wear a proper mask as above and grind it outside in a decent breeze, when you've finished have a pint of milk! Mike
  15. AFAIK the black ones I know of are nylon and super hard for track days etc
  16. Nige Maybe 'type E' off this page http://www.thinkauto.com/takeoff.htm Mike
  17. Hi Just checking that when I fit my new Richards chassis I don't need an SVA/IVA, its a 110 commercial so qualified for the old commercial SVA if necessary but I'm not entirely sure on the legal side now since the launch of the IVA? Does the old points system still exist? Mike
  18. by far the biggest discount I got was after I got married! Now pay 300 per year fully comp on limited miles on a very modified 110, but its a good postcode, has a thatcham approved immobiliser, I'm 26 and have 3 years no claims on motorbikes, have always been a named driver up til now on the land rover though! When I first got it age 20 Sureterm quoted me unhappy at £5000 for TPFT to keep it outside my house in Liverpool!
  19. None directly, it just gives you an idea about a companies business ethics...
  20. I have only rebuilt land rover calipers once before but have done loads on other cars, I would echo the above but also advise that you order a few extra seal kits as they are easily damaged! Mike
  21. cool I'll bring them tomorrow, am coming over quite early to shift the cosworth to my parents house!
  22. I think I'll just get a uk one! Thanks for the above!
  23. thats assuming they are bright enough to try it first, my doors/locks were well and truly destroyed when they were left open, wasn't worried about the car as it had no engine or boxes in! Mike
  24. thanks chaps, any idea what the range on these things is likely to be when stuffed inside some leathers and on the 0.5W setting? if its only a few yards i'm unlikely to interfere with anyone given the very occasional use it will get?
