  1. Hi Having just had a serious sense of humour failure in the scrapyard I'd be interested in your edis unit if you have one Ta Mike
  2. meck lock, chuffing expensive but saved mine from getting nicked, they were in it for a while before they gave up, and it was unlocked but they still chiselled off the door handles (had no tbox or props on!) , lazy thieves cant even be bothered to check
  3. Hi Dave While its in bits is a good time to drill and tap the top of the bellhousing for a breather without getting swarf everywhere so you can leave the wading plug in, Mike
  4. another vote for the mechanix ones! Mike
  5. Hi Martin, Perhaps the best way of boosting your storage space and keeping the budget dent free would be to buy a standard sankey as suggested above? It wouldn't take you long/cost much to add a simple roof to it to put your tent on, and if you added a piano hinge (beefy one) and some gas struts oyu could still easily access the internal storage. It seems to my (untrained) eye that the biggest difference in the overland trailers is having all the gas/water etc plumbed in so you can have taps etc? If you could do without these luxuries and just put your gas bottle/jerry cans/water can 'loose' inside then you could always reconfigure your contents as its needed? I was just thinking that its like me going climbing... I dont have my stove/water etc piped up in my rucksack (though that would be cool ) When you reach your destination you can just sell the trailer off and stick the tent on your roof rack? Just thinking out loud really.... Mike
  6. Costco are very cheap for SIP compressors, and you get a decent warranty from them too Mike
  7. large blob of chemical metal formed into a cone shape over the top and bottom of the bolt, enough to stop opportunists whilst meaning i dont have to chop my car in half to remove it if i have to... Mike
  8. Be warned that 'normal' insurance companies for 'normal' cars are likely to throw a wobbler if you even contemplate modifying your landy once you have it, you only have to patiently explain what a winch is down the phone to someone in Bangalore once to never want to do it again A 4x4 'specialist' company would be the way to go... I have used sureterm before and they were cr@p when I had to claim after a break in... tried to write off my 110 for a broken window, scratched door and broken steering lock Heard good things about NFU (don't ring, go to local office) and am with Adrian Flux for very modified 110 and my bike. Mike
  9. Hi Not exactly the same but I fitted a TD5 one to my 200, I just cut the piece with the tunnel off my old one and sikkaflex and rivetted it in place over the hole in the new one, then I just reused all my original tunnel pieces Mike
  10. Cheers Ralph thats the one, the only one I could find was the first one you linked to... it was the other one I needed! Many Thanks Mike
  11. And another... Inlet/exhaust manifold gasket for the 2.25 petrol, the one piece one, I can't find the number anywhere or find the part on craddocks site? Ta Mike
  12. Hi Anybody got the part number for the brake servo vacuum hose and its connector to the manifold for a 1984 series 3 2.25 petrol? I can't find it... Ta Mike
  13. You must be near me then... My unit is in Northwich Mike
  14. errr, pretty sure they just ring up the dvla from the roadside and give your details, they then know instantly what license you have, when you got it, how many points etc etc They obviously have some sort of direct line as I never manage to get through that quickly At the risk of upsetting you why not get a 109 for a couple of years and get some no claims built up? Mike
  15. Hi The 3 P&P sites I go to will IIRC let people over 14 drive as long as they have someone with a license next to them. Mike
  16. Congrats! glad you're mobile again!
  17. Hi On mine I trimmed the "chin" bit off the chassis enabling me to stick bolts through and get nuts on the other side, MUCH less hassle than hours fiddling with that effing plate thing, my bumper has the jack holes in so no loss... Mike
  18. I was rubbish at that move the red square game, wifey comes along and gets 30 seconds on her 2nd go, must stay up now and practise!
  19. On the original subject, there is such a thing as a 'voluntary' SVA test, perhaps given the recent events it might be a good idea to voluntarily put your car through an SVA test if you have done substantial mods, then if the worst does happen you have a more of a leg to stand on, if it fails SVA then you shouldn't really be driving it anyway... NB this applies to the 'commercial' test only, I wouldn't like to put a landy through the car test, the SVA man can keep his balls to himself Just my 2p Mike
  20. How much is your crane rated for? even my cheap sealey one will lift 1000kg... Mike
