  1. I'm sure i heard somewhere that a little squirt of 2 stroke oil in the diesel can help after accidently misfuelling with petrol? something to do with relubing the injection pump? Mike
  2. nope they are mainly pneumatics fittings, I had very good and fast service from here http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Onlin...matics_127.html you need 1/8th BSP for the breathers and 6mm nylon pipe is plenty big enough. Most people run all the pipes to a manifold somewhere on the bulkhead then a single larger 8mm pipe up to the top of the snorkel, probably cost you as much as £10! Mike
  3. Apparently marslands use the td5 type rear crossmember on all the defender chassis hence mines coming from Richards!
  4. 500+Hp v8 from the states plus box and megasquirt.... and a defender and lots of toys and an all inclusive holiday to the maldives diving for a month.... and still have change Mike
  5. Hi most of the problems with car seats is that you can end up with your legs touching the steering wheel as they tend to be thicker cushion than the standard def seats... I have rangy ones in mine, my cubby box won't fit between them though, be aware that most car seats are wider than def ones too! Mike
  6. Hi Hope you're on the mend, may I suggest that if your dizziness persists you see your GP, some effects from a large crash take a few days to show themselves Mike
  7. you mean the handbrake actually offered any resistance?! should be fine
  8. Hi Thanks for that, I like the idea of using the first bit of the linkage and putting a bracket on the footwell, its a bit fiddly/tight on space after that as I have a coilpack and an edis unit in the way B) Mike
  9. Hi done a search as I'm sure this must have been covered but I cant find anything, I'm having a nightmare trying to adjust the throttle linkage on my series 3 2.25p (zenith carb) so was thinking about converting to a cable throttle rather than the rods and levers one. Has anyone done this and is there a relatively easy bolt on set of parts to use, I was thinking defender pedal assembley and make a bracket to fit the carb? Ta Mike
  10. meck lock is good, It saved mine... Mike
  11. any weak acid would do, I have heard successful use of: coke/cola, HP sauce, salsa, vinegar, ketchup etc 2L of smart price cola is very cheap... just remember to hose it off properly afterwards!
  12. I have a beacon on my 110, I used to use it for a lot of towing/breakdowns and at various shows when driving through crowds etc, don't really have a need for it anymore but if I take it off there will be a huge hole in my roof I suppose its worth keeping it in the (quite likely) event that I break down in an inconvenient place... Green lights are allowed for any doctor but you still have to abide by the highway code and have to have a reason to have it on... 'my takeaway is getting cold' probably wouldn't work
  13. whats it for? the military bumpers have a pin in the middle, failing that you would need to buy/make a heavy duty bumper to put a towball etc on, the standard bumper isn't up to anything other than gently shunting unladen trailers round Mike
  14. failing that an old fashioned film container fits perfectly too!
  15. Hi I'm going to see my sister in Redditch on Saturday so am happy to offer forum relay from Liverpool/Northwich to Redditch and back Will be in wifes corsa so nothing too big/heavy/oily etc would be an ideal opportunity to purchase some heavy duty winch cable that I may have for sale PM me if interested! Mike
  16. Agreed! if you can get to costco and buy the 20L drums of chevron/texaco its about £1 per litre.... Thats what I have been using in all the cars for the last 5 years no probs Mike
  17. I got M14 through mine.. land rovers eh Mike
  18. Hi Luke I cant tell you the spacing off the top of my head but the sizes are usually 14mm for NATO holes, 16mm for standard towbar, or 10mm for the big bracket Ralph was on about, usually 2 16mm holes at the bottom centre, 4 14mm nato holes above that spaced around the centre of the x member, and either 2or 4 10mm holes depending on which dixon bate you have... Clear as mud? You are welcome to pop over and measure the 110 or the 109 up, both have nato hitches and I have a drop plate thing too that you could measure, Mike
  19. considering its bolted to a chocolate axle casing its probably fine, and on a more technical note, 6mm is whats in the unit
  20. oh dear, expensive trip to Richards coming up....
  21. just tell them they rusted off, they'll definately believe you its a land rover
  22. also do you use the jack holes on the dumb iron? if not (like me) then you can trim the 'chin/underbite' bit off enabling you to get access to the bottom of the bumper bolts and fit nuts on istead of the stupid captive nut plate thing
