  1. Last Christmas I had no idea I would be around to see another so it's nice to still be here!
  2. Me too. Excellent post Mr Superpants.
  3. Again? Tralalalala, happy days! It's nearly Christmas wooohoooo!!!!! 😁
  4. Oh Lord save us from artificially wobbly, constantly tracking, fast cut cut cut camera work and overbearing music. If the product is good nobody needs these artificially hyped productions. Clear images and facts please, not some emulated Hollywood hyperbole.
  5. Yep I've e had similar issues inthe past with this or that vehicle or set up. I just can't be bothered faffing now and just want what should be simple, routine tasks to be, well, simple and hassle free.
  6. Got mine. Well worth the modest price, grab one while they are available.
  7. Depends on how young or fit you are. Old f@rts like me tend to get brassed off when things are made inconvenient and I for one have grown used to not having to negotiate an obstacle directly above a rear tow hitch.
  8. Owning umpteen Land Rovers since the 70's leads me to the view that having the spare right above the tow point makes hitching and unhitching a bit of a faff.
  9. I'm not sure the conjecture and speculation is offering anything here.
  10. Post this in the Military section as well as there may be someone in there who might be able to help.
  11. Yep, having rebuilt plenty of old combustion engines in the past including those that had main cap and con rod bearings that requiring white metal bearings cast directly on them and then bored to size, cork clutches etc I'm pretty old school at times 🙂
  12. As an aside I always used to soak sintered bushes in oil for a day or more before fitting.
  13. If I had not got fed up with the not so mysterious back axle and transmission clunking that my last new Puma 110 XS USW developed, and even more fed up with the fact that numerous warranty fixes were tried and failed, I may have invested in one of those. That last new Defender of mine was bought as a long term keeper but even toward the end of production they were still let down by niggly faults and poor warranty fixes. I'd have been quids in if I kept that last one, I always rust proofed all my Defenders but damn, even a decades long LR enthusiast like me has their limits in forgiving lamentable build quality - and as I say so close to the end of production too. That vehicle got chopped in and my money has not gone to JLR since. And breathe.....
  14. Good effort chaps, all goes toward helping folks remember the purpose of the day - which was the aim of my original post.
  15. Personally I'm going to be in my 90's in 30 years time and as I'm no longer interested in DIY servicing on my day to day vehicles [but will happily rip classics apart] and am not buying vehicles to hand on to my grand kids [not that I have any of those yet [thankfully] I'm not looking to buy something that will last into the 22nd century. Selfish? Maybe but I have kept hold of vehicles for years and lain in the dirt fixing them as I needed to use them the next day so my conscience is fairly clear. The way things are going I will see the state of play with the Grenadier in three years time when my new truck is first due for replacement.
  16. With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, England mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free. Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres, There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond England's foam. But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night; As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain; As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain. Poem by Robert Laurence Binyon (1869-1943), published in The Times newspaper on 21 September 1914. Sunrise over Norfolk. Rememberance / Armistice Day. November 11th 2021. My photo. At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month - we will remember them.
  17. All these video's, press and info releases and prototype demo driving days are all well and good but after all said and done I'm a bit bored now so methinks I'll wait until I can get behind the wheel and actually test one for myself - hopefully I will live that long 😆 Thinking further I'm not sure I will want to invest in something that is increasingly, to me at least, looking like it's designed as an old Defender Clone potentially for some of yesterday's markets - I'm perfectly happy to be shot down and educated differently on the latter point though. Besides, the way the public are swallowing what the media and other sources say and buying into all the climate change razzmatazz the oil burner in the Grenadier is potentially to be but one option once the end product is established and rolling off the production lines.
  18. Looks great! I'll flag this up in A&M
  19. That's what I said to a former girlfriend I'll get my coat
  20. Agreed. From a looks alone standpoint it appears to be a fussy afterthought.
  21. No criticism taken. As you know I've got a 79 year old Willy's Jeep and under normal circumstances have been over the moon to be able to pootle down to the village shop, pub or into local towns etc, it's great, I love it but also like modern stuff too.
