  1. Hmmmmmm. Those that passed even the most rigorous test can still lack common sense / act impulsively at times. A qualification does not guarantee perfect performance and behaviour for evermore.
  2. I see what you mean. Tall, thin, husky voice, lots of waving about of oversize hands. Like a big praying mantis.
  3. Trucks have to be plated annually but trailers are fair game for the ignorant and risk takers but I can't imagine many doting equine owners wanting to knowingly put their animals at risk but ignorance is bliss in all walks of life. I suppose we could pick holes on any segment of the motoring population, the number of shagged out Disco 1's I see trundling about around this area complete with under chassis and steering guards oversize wheels and tyres, snorkel, umpteen lights on the roof and exhausts belching black smoke as they accelerate and stickers with the usual one life BS all over the shop towing equally dodgy trailers and caravans is alarming.
  4. Nice! I have three English Springer Spaniels but also owned and worked Labradors for many years so this hangs on one of our walls
  5. I have held a licence since the mid 1970's and towed all sorts with all sorts. Now that my personal background is out of the way I can get on to my point of this post... I was listening to Any Answers on R4 this afternoon and the subject of the shortage of HGV drivers came up, several callers were HGV qualified themselves and most made the point that the industry is mostly made up of middle aged or older males, that poor wages had forced many to move into better remunerated, less stressful professions that offer nicer working conditions and less antisocial hours away from families. Low wages had caused the industry to take advantage and employ drivers from less well paid EU countries who were happy to accept what was essentially better pay in the UK than they could earn at home. Many of these foreign drivers had returned home as a result of the UK leaving the EU. These were the views of those who had called in who have worked in the industry for years.
  6. Tidying up the workshop come garage I found.... ROVER AUSTRALIA PTY. LTD
  7. End of an era indeed 😔 Please don't be a stranger here Mike.
  8. I had one that I took off the original bonnet of the 127 ambulance I converted into a camper years ago. I had a better, straighter bonnet that I sprayed up and fitted and never replaced the badge. I'll have to have a rummage to see if I still have it but in reality it probably went into one of the many clear-out skips I had when we sold that place and bought this one.
  9. Oh God, just seen another one driving through my local town. That's the second I've seen around here, standards are slipping! What a bland looking vehicle.
  10. A ride along and get a feel of it from a passenger viewpoint kind of thing.
  11. is that the 'test drive' in one of the prototypes sat next to one of their own drivers?
  12. True indeed but in my ever so humble opinion thought it was worth a shot.
  13. Those last two or three videos have, in my view, been the most informative to date. As an aside, and I am not sure if it has been mentioned before in this section or elsewhere, but after a chat among the A&M team back in October 2020 Jeremy 996 sent an email to Ineos on behalf of LR4x4. The idea was to inform them of the existence of our forum, that we are independent and self funded, that our membership has a wealth of knowledge in the 'practical side of 4x4 ownership / operation / maintenance / design / fabrication' etc. Jeremy also mentioned that we had set up a section entirely devoted to the Ineos Grenadier and that some of the comments from our members may be of interest and potentially of assistance to them. We asked for nothing, it was just a courtesy "reach out" to a new manufacturer who seem to be striving to produce something of interest to a number of our members. I think I am right in believing Jeremy has yet to receive any form of reply.
  14. Having seen the interior I now understand the design cues for the front grille.
  15. Looks like you have to wear the vehicle Speedo on your wrist. Ghastly.
  16. Let's face it, whatever they come up with won't please everyone.
  17. I quite like the switches, memories of Amstrad 901 and other 27/81 CB radio's that shared the same guts in the early 80's, not that some of the whipper snappers were around or old enough to be involved when they first came out.
  18. Hope you had a good one (been there, done that) 😉
  19. Gawd struth, just pulled into my GP surgery and parked next to a new Defender. That's a first sighting in my village. Waiting for the allure to take hold....
  20. Can you book, do they have a finished product for Joe Public to test drive yet?
  21. I'm actively looking for a replacement 4x4 but still not inspired or tempted enough to book a test drive of the new model which to me is just a bit samey, just another urban pose wagon. As far as I'm concerned what few JLR dealers there are left in East Anglia are apathetic toward customers who have purchased new vehicles from them in the past, I've had 0 contact, 0, nothing, nada. The new model is notable by its absence around here, I think I caught a glimpse of the backend of one disappearing around a corner in the local town last week but that is the sum total so far. I doubt I will be splashing out what I feel is an unreasonable amount of money on something that just makes me feel - a bit 'meh'. It's his view, respect it.
