  1. The Britpart side door hinges are zinc plated, not sure if the rear door hinges are though. ....local platers in Thetford , Wyatt Chrome 01842766770. Small company and very helpful.....mmm Chrome?? Of course you would need spinners and 20's then. Steve
  2. New standard ones and get them plated or galvanised . The old ones lasted a good while after all? Steve
  3. Check the rubber pipe from the turbo to the waste gate, and the other short bits - tee to turbo and tee to FIP boost. They live in a hot area and perish. If this has happened also check the boost "slider" that is controlled by the boost pin in the FIP is free to move. Check the intercooler for oily patches usually indicative of a leak. Steve
  4. This one? A bit more Land Rover trials car than the above youtube stills clips, which I like too. Good proportions and lines. Steve
  5. Top job Stephen, looking forward to seeing it stretch it's legs on some terrain. I've followed this all the way through and it has been fascinating - a true build in every way. Steve
  6. Just to finish this off, the motor arrived within the quoted delivery time and was a straight bolt on and wire up. Cost just shy of £110 to get to my hands. Great service and value for a 240v 1 hp Industrial motor. ....the compressor is much quieter too...... Steve
  7. You are not wrong in that statement, very well versed in Ex-Mil LR's ...and other stuff too Steve
  8. ...get off the fence and say what you mean.... I'm sure it's just coincidence that this somewhat meaningless press feed from JLR happened in the same week Ineos start releasing Grenadier's into the wild. I wonder what the new JLR name will be without Land Rover or much in the way of Jaaag content either? Steve
  9. Sleep well? Have a great weekend and I'll be looking for your ongoing diary starting soon. Steve
  10. So charging ok now? What's left to do before Sid owns the road? Steve
  11. .......which Saturday? On a more serious note, I am looking forward to hearing about living with a Grenadier. Hope it all goes to plan. Awaiting more news Steve
  12. Try your local Ag supplier for mineral oil. As Hurbie says, correct oil and run it, I usually change oil and filter after 500-1000 miles or 3-6 months. Steve
  13. So good to read your post, wishing you a future full of deep mud, challenging terrain and the smell of bog on a hot exhaust ...wiring, pah what could possibly go wrong. We are all still adjusting to a reality where 404 diff''s are shortened as an everyday challenge incorporating scratch built air lockers and look factory when finished. All the very best from me Buddy, to you and the Family Steve
  14. I'll try and remember to look on my yard crane Hi-Cap plate - .gov says 3499kg. Steve
  15. I thought the Hi-Cap model was launched as a 1 tonne payload at 3500kg GVW? V5 weights for Land Rovers are notoriously variable - I see lots of 88" Series with 3500kg on the V5.... My 109sw goes over the WB at 2500kg full cage long range tanks (full- 28 gallons) hydraulic converted PTO winch with steel cable and 6 gallon hyd. oil tank. 1 tonne wheels and 238/85-16 tyres Steve
  16. When the peal is at rest the pushrod should have approx2mm of free play between the ball end and the piston cup. Steve
  17. set your torque wrench to 25lbft and see if they undo without a click. Put a suitable piece of wood in the vice and stick the BE over it. If possible video it to argue for new nuts from Turners, but known new nuts tightened once would do for me I think. Steve
  18. Good choice - I thought they looked good value, complete and bolt in. Do check that skew gear assy. while it's apart. Look forward to the next instalment. Steve
  19. You definitely have a flair for shaping solid steel into fine looking art forms. What's next? I'm thinking a solid brass cockroach bonnet bug.... Steve
  20. That looks very tidy. Am I safe to assume the body is solid steel as it was born in your workshop? Steve
  21. Turner Engineering show stock of ERC8751 and the correct nut ETC5155. These are common to all 2.25 and 2.5 petrol and diesel including the 2.5TD. Are you getting the rod BE checked for size and ovality? Turner also have new rods. Steve
  22. good decision to pull the engine I'd say Have you tried Turner Engines for new BE bolts? While it's apart check the skew gear for wear - end float , teeth and bearing fit too. Any out of tolerance in that assembly affects the FIP timing while running. Steve
  23. This is a masterclass on the subject Mike, you make it look easy. This section could be copied and added to the tech Archive as a "How To Mould and Make Fibreglass Parts" Thanks for the posts Mike. Steve
  24. My mistake - this type of pump is very durable and while it looks like something off the bottom of the sea due to being in the wheel arch they carry on working. Are the rubber isolators in good condition? Steve
