  1. I've always broken the plastic tool as well. The easiest way to remove the cover is with the socket you use to remove the wheelnuts - it will slip over and grip enough to 'wiggle' it off.
  2. As people have said - it's down to individual choice. I've never been keen on roof tents mainly due to the issue of striking camp if you need to drive to the shop for milk etc. Having had various ground tents the downside is time to erect and pack if you are doing single night stops. I moved over to an Oz Tent last year after seeing the demo at Eastnor and wish I'd done so years ago. The RV1 (smallest) will fit inside the 110 with one of the rear seats folded, the larger ones would need to go 'across' the rear load space with the seat folded. I've also used a RV5 recently at Gaydon which had plenty of room for 4 and the height to stand up in. Both can be erected and packed in less than a minute and are completely weatherproof. With the optional side and front panels you get masses of extra room. Going to Gaydon with all the gear and 4 people in the 110 I carried the RV5 on roof bars and would use the roof rack for the 90 - no big deal. If you want to be on the roof then the RV1 will sit nicely on the roof rack and pretend its a roof tent.
  3. Surely you mean 'crimped' not scrimped Will, if you're happy mate - thats all that matters.
  4. Easy enough to tweak a diesel and stick a soft top on a Defender.
  5. That was fair constructive critisism He was most upset that he couldn't get the thread pulled. He never provided any of the answers either
  6. My Engel has a temp read out next to the switch at the top of the casing as well.
  7. What he means is 'discount anyone who dares to question or critisise me' Funny how he pops up and talks of libel but never does anything about it.................
  8. Saw that ad on one of the other forums. Quite simple really - take a Defender, make some plates up and swop them over. Job done. The only bit from the SII is the reg and VIN plate if they could be bothered to swop that as well.
  9. Thats why they were always cheap I used to get loads of cheap 16" wheels and tyres for my P38 as no one wanted them.
  10. Shame we can't get that in the UK. New 300tdi Defenders without ECUs etc.
  11. Its on the wish list somewhere Si The drum assembly fitted works fine so no rush but I just fancy a X brake when time is right
  12. My best one? To the ex wife some years back...... No, the Range Rover Classic that has just appeared on the drive isn't mine - I'm looking after it for a mate.
  13. Or forgetting to mention the new wheels in the hope she won't notice That was a good one
  14. I haven't posted on here but I ordered one a week or two back - hopefully Jim has the cash Posted on here now though
  15. So when I get one for the 90 (its on the list) I know who will come and fit it for me then
  16. No, to be fair I haven't but I do know of people who have had claims rejected in part due to 'irregularities' with vehicle spec. Its only my opinion but I feel it likely that they will look at the lack of SVA as a further excuse to avoid a payout.
  17. Sorry to here that Bish - what a bugger. Fact is things are being tightened up, its not as easy to build a hybrid / bobtail / kitcar as it used to be. As the owner / driver the buck will always stop with you - the insurance companies are getting taking a harder line on rejecting claims and will lay the blame at your door if you fail to get a SVA done. Ignorance of the law is no defense and all those who bury their heads in the sand could come unstuck big time should they have an accident or get stopped by plod. Just as important to be sure your insurance company has a list of all modifications / extras to your standard trucks. Its not worth the risk.
  18. I hope you get it resolved, it would be unrealistic to expect a full refund or new replacement but your approach seems fairer. With a new model I think you will always get teething problems but its how they get sorted that matters - to me the frustrating thing were I in your shoes would be the repeated oil leaks etc - they shouldn't be that hard to fix. It does seem to be down to the toss of a coin whether you get a problem Puma or not though - many are running well whilst others have the same problems cropping up.
  19. The 90 was £160 with Lancaster last month. Fully comp with modifications etc.
  20. Yes, I've had my 07 110 serviced. Main Dealer - was just over £300 for a 12,000 mile service.
  21. I'll second them - I bought my P38 from them and their service is excellent.
  22. I don't neccessarily see that as unfortunate Jim - there are a number of forums that offer that facility and cater for all sorts of discussion. I view LR4x4 as a more serious Land Rover topic forum and therefore like many bear that in mind when posting on here. LR4x4 is fine as it is - as are some of the others.
