  1. Oh hell you are in trouble if you don't - the next 20 years won't be as pleasant. Don't think Ratners and Elizabeth Duke Think posh jewlers and/or travel agents B) Got a nice restaurant booked - yes I know that will mean travelling as there is no such thing in Pompey Kebab shops with plastic benches are fine for the boyz - but not for your lady.
  2. Hell fire indeed I've watched it 6 times already I don't think I'm going to get bored of watching it anytime soon
  3. Good work Trev and whoever else helped. One wierd thing - in the technical archive was a post by Western about how to wire up Allbright solenoids. It doesn't show up in the list, but if you knew the URL on the old board you could go to it. The URL was Wonder if there are anyother posts that don't show up there Andy Actually just answered my own question - The default for that forum and I suspect others, is only to show messages from the last 30 days. Might be worth changing that forum default to all if possible. Andy
  4. Looks like the front hose is pulled tight !!
  5. thats easy, qt style diff guards and bolt summat to the front of it, well thats wot i'm planning My Camel Disco had a piece of U-shaped steel bolted to the diff. This allowed the track rod to move forwards/backwards as the wheels turned, but only let it deflect a little before the track rod protector caught it. There was a big thread on Pirate a while back on tube vs solid strength, and tube won. I think its to do with surface area on the outside and on the inside. Obviously the tube has to be of a reasonable wall thickness for this to hold true. With MogLite - reasonable is 7.5mm
  6. I think thats really stupid. Cheating is so easy. We put a lot of effort into putting the punches in just the right spot so they'd need a bit of thought. We spent £30 on canes to hang the punches off and most of them are trashed. Next time we'll electrocute the canes !! The guy removing his door to get the punch at the previous event was funny, but snapping off tree branches come-on. About 4 punches were lost completely either driven over or whatever.
  7. I think that result should be null and void, as they didn't make it home under their own steam
  8. Thats really good to hear, as that was the exact goal. Give the road'ish vehicles a fair chance, and maybe just push it a little bit more than they would on a regular play day. Romsey is an awkward site, it goes from quite tame to impossible/dangerous with not too much in between, especially when its that dry. Glad you had a good time
  9. Nice one mate. Mid November - bloody typical - I'll have to post you a Christmas Card the day after you leave so it gets there in time !! OH BTW my GPS mouse works on Baud = 4800 Data = 8 bits Parity = none Stop bits = none. Andy
  10. Well there are 59 punches all laid out in a variety of places. Something for everyone, and some lateral thinking. It should be a laugh
  11. Some of us have been out at Romsey all day, setting out the punches, so you lot can have some fun tomorrow. and I believe you will B)
  12. Oh Jon Stick to hammers Just in case you are an American, or possibly drive a car made by Suzuki, we will spell the purpose of Petrol Direct out to you in simple terms. This is a spoof. A parody. We do not sell petrol or any other fuels, and certainly not plutonium or antimatter. Sorry. This site is strictly for laughs only.
  13. I've used a fly press a couple of times at Tonks workshop for changing bushes. As Moglite is going to be pretty rough on bushes, being able to change them myself would be handy, especially as there are eight of them. So I bought a flypress - this one - a No 6 - so quite big. It didn't cost much, so I'm happy for it to be used only for bushes, but its got to be able to do more than that. I haven't picked it up yet, but I'm assuming there won't be any tooling with it. Punching holes won't be any use to me, as I'll never need to do enough to justify the tooling. Anything else that I can use a fly press for in the Land Rover world ?
  14. Interesting on sealing the dizzy cap - what about servicing ? Is silicon grease a better idea than ignition sealer ? Where is your coil ? and what have you done to that ? Rubber style gloves with 9 fingers, and a similar bit for the coil are for sale by some people at shows. Manual fan helps, but ISTR you've done that already. Is it steam from the zorst thats causing the problems ? What have I done ? - mounted the engine nice and high at the back of MogLite !! Thats pretty extreme though
  15. Well I've posted before about this kind of thing. It doesn't matter what peopel donate, as long it's what they are happy with donating. There will be no list of who donated what. Les. I wasn't after names - just the stats
  16. I have no problem throwing some money via PayPal, but a couple of questions. Apart from making me sleep better at night - will it "buy" me any extra features ? Can you inisist on vendors pimping their wares contribute ? Maybe new posts in the classified section could be only to "Paid up members" Will a small summary of accounts be available ? Average, and min/max contribution would make interesting reading Pirate4x4 system of stars is pretty much perfect IMHO
  17. The LR4x4 image over the Land Rover Addict. Several people (including the wife) who have looked over my should whilst surfing have passed comments such as <Beavis and Butthead> Snigger, Snigger - you're an addict - snigger, snigger </Beavis and Butthead> Well done chaps.
  18. MogLite

    Ibex

I believe they are still available as kits
  19. If I was being a skint flint...... I'd look at making a motorbike cap fit - nice ones off of modern sports bikes shouldn't be too hard to come by. Just get a hose to fit on the reverse might cause a bit of head scratching.
  20. We had an X-reg one from new on lease. 30,000miles in 3 years, never even blew a blub. Very thirsty on fast motorway runs. Would I have another - nah too plain, and car like. What bugged me, was you look inside and the interior looks big, but it wasn't. I think because the seats are small.
  21. Si Thanks for taking the time with this - a really interesting thread, Stranded through winching I'm not worried about. Its stalling a wet V8 in Moglite and not having a full battery to crank it over is my concern. Does anyone know if those switches are in a Range Rover (c1991) as I have a loom for that spread all over my garage !! Andy
  22. I need to do the rear shock mount on MogLite Looking for ideas. These from Rovertym These from Scrap Iron These are from Tomcat Any others ?
  23. So if I've got this right, you've got a number of options 1) Mosfet split charge - flawed because of the voltage drop 2) Simonr split charge - discharges the batteries together and could leave you stranded 3) Parellel connection - can damage batteries unless perfectly matched and can flatten both batteries 4) Spendy battery control system All of those are flawed for what I want, which is a fully charged starter battery - even after a long winching session. So I'm thinking of a manual system One of these rated at 175A, about £25. Just to switch the alternator feed to whichever battery I want charged. I guess with well matched batteries I can leave it on both, unless heavy winching or starting, in which case I just switch to battery one or two. Switching to off will probably blow the alternator But maybe the switch can be pinned to prevent the off position being selected. Dual voltmeters or some kind of changeover switch would complete the system Discuss
  24. Or whatever its called. The flat 1" webbing that was on sale at Billing. I've heard a couple of people singing its praises. I can see the downfalls compared to conventional rope. But it seems cheap and strong, and possibly very useful for extensions etc. Anyone got any links for suppliers.
