  1. Looking good there Its good to compare the before and after of portals. How are you finding the wheelbase ? A little short ?
  2. ROTFLMAO You owe me a keyboard, and a screen wipe as I've just spat out my coffee "Over the next year or so" Implying that it got an MOT with a microswitch monitoring chassis flex
  3. Not doubt when the HR department find out - it will all get interesting. <Doctor Who> I call alien in a skin suit </Doctor Who> <Wishful thinking> The white top, and black id badge holder, at a quick glance looked like a St trinians outfit </Wishful thinking>
  4. Well that didn't last long did it !! Haven't been on LRO for ages, what's their limit £100
  5. You can come and crawl under our '98 38a if that helps.
  6. I've been after a bigger socket set for a while. Taking the wheelnuts of my 7.5 tonner broke two 1/2" breaker bars Trying to change the oil filter on my Omega was the last straw at the weekend - 36mm socket needed !! So went looking for 3/4" sets on eBay - I'm not proud. I plucked for this set, that also has some 1" drive stuff !! Here is a 55mm socket in action, I've yet to find a use for the 60 + 65mm ones Good set of extensions Claims to made in Japan rather than China, so maybe its a 1/2 decent metal, but it was only £65 delivered so I'm not loosing any sleep. I laugh at the 30mm nuts on Land Rover suspension
  7. My Ibex is about the same !! Must be the way Alex does it - but it flies, and that counts
  8. Let me see - they'd be covered in mud, broken, and then spliced back together by Brookies Nah haven't got any like that. Truthfully - no I don't believe I have.
  9. Cough - BroadBand - yes officer, but I gave my ISDN line a good spanking before that !! Glad the DVD turned up. There is some good stuff on there. The Camel Disco bouncing around on the sandy hillclimb is me too
  10. I've reached critical mass with my pornography collection I've almost exhasted eBay B) There is only the forums left !! Actually in all seriousness, I've got a wireless laptop, and do a lot of my surfing from the lounge (not all of it obviously) at least then I'm seen to be in the house, and can add comments such as "yes dear" at appropiate junctures, rather than hiding away in my study.
  11. That is the challenge I face with MogLite, driving off with the PTO engaged and changing the wheelbase
  12. Trev Fridge isn't the webmaster anymore - the website has been taken over by a guy called Chip (as in carpenter), so John can concentrate on the Shire Newsletter. Flick an email to webmaster@shirelrc.com and give him the link. I'd do it - but I'm falling asleep on my feet here Andy
  13. I did on MogLite Just make sure what locating pins have stayed in each unit, as a pin can't fit where a pin already is !!
  14. Yeah I've got loads of 8x4 sheets in 2mm thick. Gis us a shout Dan
  15. If you mean LRA - seems it has been hacked and has moved to a temporary home !!
  16. Just drill and tap ? How high ? Is the vehicle on ramps, or axle stands. If on a 4 -poster lift - I'd say about 6'6" from the ground
  17. As the title says, anyone from Lowestoft area going to Sodbury...... and could bring a set of wheels and tyres with them. I've bought a skanky set of 4 7.50's and 16" rims in Unimog pattern, alas its a 400 mile round trip for me, as I'm in Hampshire. Is there anyone that could pick them up for me and meet me at Sodbury ? They'll be paid for, and they'll be a nice drink in it for you of course - no messing. The 7.50's won't of course be on the rims long, but will be handy for lessening the climb into the cab when I'm building. Longer term it opens up the world of 16" tyres Fedima's / Babcross
  18. I took the kids out for a walk in the forest - it was a beautiful day here in Hampshire Fitted a 44" tyre to a rim to mock up the required offset for MogLite Tip of the day. Don't pick a fight with a truck tyre fitter. It is seriously hard work. He took the old 36's off the rims with hammers and levers - respect Mind you I did fit a 44 that way - but I'm going to be knackered for a week
  19. To go back mch earlier in the thread about V8 fugatives - cool yes, but thats 30 year old tech. The sand rail equivalent of leaf springs !! Bring this on If you scoot around their Website you'll find the best bit is, a customer car is owned by an old geezer called Jack Frost
  20. I've not done a roof-rack, but having done a cage, I have to say working with tube is pretty tricky. Getting the fillets/coping nice and snug so it welds easy can be time-consuming. Also welding tube is much more difficult than box, because of the arcs you need to move in. Also you are going to be working in something like 1 - 1.5mm tube I assume, which is pretty skinny for a first-time welder. If you fancy doing it in box section - a lot easier. You could make a flat rack in box and then add tubular uprights and frame for better looks IMHO.
  21. Thanks for the info. I like the look of Fridge's option better than the eBay one, shame its a US link. I am /very/ concerned about strength, I can't make one sensibly as I don't have easy access to a lathe/mill. I'm just finalising MogLite's driving position, and it looks like a deep-dish wheel, or a regular wheel + quick-release will be bang on. Lots of cheap Momo's on eBay I'll give Demon Tweeks and Milners a call.
  22. Before I pay hommage to Demon Tweeks and give them all my money. Has anyone fitted a quick release steering wheel to a Rangie column ? MogLite is a PITA to get into, and I like the idea of a quick release wheel for security also Seems all rangies 87-01 have the same boss fitting. Demon Tweeks do a range of quick release bosses for about £100, although I have no idea if they are suitable for a Rangie. Or my favourite - eBay has turned up This but I worry about the strength, as the steering wheel tends to get a battering off-road. Anyone
  23. Still looks cool as hell though doesn't it
  24. Nige Oh you doubt me Here is the original source Pirate 4x4 Albeit the Chit - Chat forum, which incidently is great to surf under the influence
