  1. here it was just over 3 years ago.. and now.... Steve
  2. about additional 2-3mpg for newer engine.
  3. put a 12v feed straight to compressor and see if it works then. Steve
  4. Another option is a netbook. ASUS EEEPC's with XP on were advertised in paper for 155 notes today.
  5. I obviously touched a nerve The point is, picking a bank, estate agent or a car manufacturer as a weather vane for impending doom is a bit useless. Each of those verticals have their own unique attributes and because Toyota is facing their first loss in their history doesn't mean we are all up a certain creek without a paddle. I was just adding some perspective to your original post. I'll sign off now on this post as you appear to think it was a personal attack, although this assumption may be wrong as it's easy to interpret the written word incorrectly. Cheers Steve
  6. I was going to use some rivnuts for some lashing eyes and wondered if they would be strong enough? What are the limits of their usage? Could you use them to bolt down the rear single fold down seats for example? Cheers Steve
  7. Like Lexus and Landcruiser Amazons? ;) ;)
  8. mmmmmm, last I read Toyota were the World's largest car maker. Now given that car sales have dropped globally by about 30% in the last 12 months, if Toyota weren't affected I would have been more surprised. As for them not making a loss in the previous downturns, they weren't the car company they are today in the previous downturns.
  9. on TD5's it's very visible and is just in front of cubby box/centre tray before diff lock/lo-Hi selector on a metal bracket. As it's so visible I'm assuming it's not here or you don't have one. Other place for EGC electrics on TDi was under centre seat box panel, so maybe there. I would think there must be one somewhere as garages would need to access with testbook to resync alarm fobs. Just looked on RAVE and yes you should have a diag port in the centre area of seat box on late TDi's with Alarm/Immobiliser fitted. You are looking for one of these, but hopefully a bit cleaner ;) Cheers Steve
  10. Hi John Do you have a an OBDII diag port too? If so, you can bring it over and we can plug it in to see if there is a problem. Worse case 10AS units can be picked up for around 45 pounds and you can fit a new unit and resync the remotes to the new unit. Cheers Steve
  11. it's normally the seals, which can be replaced on most models.
  12. you could try a good impact driver and try shocking them loose. if you don't have one pop over. Steve
  13. The reason for changing out seat covers is to get away from having vinyl seats in the summer. They are good seats and you can wipe clean the mud off easily after off-roading, but in the summer even in moderate uk temps you get a sweaty back (or I do) too often. I went for canvas seat covers initially, but after hassle of getting the correct set (originally bought at Billing in July) I gave up and went for the re-cover route. I plan to keep my 90 for some time, so I'm happy to modify things things that I think will make it better. Cheers Steve
  14. Talk to Simon at Devon 4x4. They supplied tyres, wheels and a lot of other parts for both Big Foots. Steve
  15. Just a quick update. Seats are working out really well. New foams are very good and outlast fabric is performing as described. Obviously I don't have any hot weather to test cooling effect but in cold weather fabric stays warm. So far they've proved easy to clean off mud too, even hot chocolate care of one of my sons Cheers Steve
  16. not surprised to hear that. What would be good to hear is an announcement that JLR are pulling out of North America. For too long the rest of JLR's markets have been subsidising the loss making NA. I see no sense in making vehicle prices uncompetitive in other markets to sell vehicles at a loss in NA. The volume benefits of being in NA do not balance out the drag on operating profits. If JLR were to announce this it would be a positive move for all their UK based employees. Steve
  17. You can wire in a two pole albright (devon 4x4) near the battery to act as an isolator. The kill switch can then be located anywhere using a simple 12v feed. Steve
  18. do you want a full engine dyno test or rolling road? for rolling road you could try... Pete Baldwin Wilsher's Garage, 18 Cambridge Road, Wimpole, Cambridge, SG8 5QE Tel: (01223) 207217 http://www.wilshers-garages.com/ don't know if it's a 2 or 4 wheel rolling road though.
  19. local garages today have reduced petrol by 1p to 88.9 and diesel by 4p to 100.9, so yes Neil it's looks like they are pricing diesel at the price they think they can charge rather than give like for like reductions for petrol and diesel. and qrover, yes I do drive a V8 also ;)
  20. so it seems that no one has an explanation why 15 months ago difference was 3-4p and now it's 14-15p (apart from morrisons ) I'm not impressed with having to pay ~11p/l more with no logical explanation why. Rant over Steve
  21. Hi Paul Your last statement is not correct. Post NERC all RUPP's are now restricted byways, even if there is an application pending. If you drive it, you are personally responsible for proving that vehicular use is allowed. Just because a RUPP has an application pending doesn't mean it's legal to drive at all. We have had this discussion locally with Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire Borough Council RoW's. There are varying interpretations by RoW depts and even within, but NERC wording is clear. Just because an application has been made it does not make a RUPP pre NERC, Restricted Byway now legal to drive until application is decided. Proof of legality is up to individual irrespective of whether an application is pending or not. Given this Glass, Lara, TRF etc should be advising all drivers/riders of this. Cheers Steve
