  1. I agree. Would bring some class to the street. There's actually one like that parked a few km away, still makes my head turn. Potentially a house in Sweden... where I'll need a Mog for plowing and mowing and and and (no?)
  2. https://www.rbauction.nl/idp/1986-mercedes-benz-unimog-421-4x4-utility-truck?invId=13737355&id=ci&auction=meppen-deu-2023299 /twitch I don't have room for it. I have better things to spend money on. But damn if I don't want that.
  3. Air/electric operated freespool? Remember: you can sleep in a car, but you can't drive a house.
  4. Maybe, but I wouldn't be so sure. The R380 was only offered in the Softdash. If you need a bellhousing, and can live with a moderately charred one, I should still have one sitting at the workshop.
  5. Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. First need to figure out what all I need and how I'm going to make it work. Because I guess I'd have to drill and tap the existing fittings on the bags so they'll take a 1/8 NPT.
  6. I contacted McMaster-Carr to ask for the details of the manufacturer, and they were very helpful. Those fittings are made by Camozzi, and are called "dual seal". Their UK site: https://store.camozzi.co.uk/Catalogue/Connection/Super-Rapid-Fittings/Dual-Seal-Push-In-Fittings/8512-Male-Stud And another UK supplier: https://www.rowse-pneumatics.co.uk/camozzi-8512-6-1-8 So a bit of progress there. Now to find a supplier that actually lists prices and, for me, is preferably not based in the UK
  7. Then I'd need to take something else apart to build it...
  8. That's nice. I want that. Expensive for the size, though. And that doesn't look like a solid axle
  9. Didn't they do a special "our cars" episode for the 100th episode that covered that?
  10. All the sensors and such on my GLE iced up last Sweden trip, but the headlights remained fine. BIggest issue was the coating of road salt, that made a huge difference when wiping off.
  11. And, honestly, the cam as well. They're wear items on an RV8.
  12. Worst case find a friendly machinist that can line it up properly in a mill and drill it out.
  13. Worst case you post it to me and I'll go exchange it here.
  14. Why buy another? It's Facom. Walk into a store that sells Facom and get a new one for free.
  15. Not sure I'd trust that kind of connector in a high-vibration environment, especially with stranded wire. But it'll probably be fine.
  16. Have been doing some googling... So, as with everything, it exists, McMaster Carr has it, and that's no good to any of us on this side of the pond. https://www.mcmaster.com/9396T112/ https://www.mcmaster.com/push-to-connect-tube-fittings/high-pressure-push-to-connect-tube-fittings-for-air-and-water/ It says made in Italy, so it can't be that hard to find, right? Yet I can't seem to find any.
  17. Thinking in line with chrisbowler's suggestion above, a switch that swaps the wires from the foot throttle pedal to a second throttle pedal. Remove the spring from that, and move it by hand? Just wiring in parallel I don't think would work, as there would be conflicting values reaching the ECU I think.
  18. Sucks. Looked it up, and it is indeed explicitly also on the RN 338. I doubt that'll fly, as it's based on the EURO emissions rating, the year of first registration is just a guideline to help people figure it out. A detour like this might work?
  19. Thanks, that's good to know. So the EAS fittings aren't "standard" fittings then? And with regular push-fit fittings, I should expect small leaks to be normal?
  20. Had a quick read even though my French isn't brilliant: https://www.metropole-rouen-normandie.fr/zone-faibles-emissions-mobilite Age exemption needs to be specifically requested for collectors' vehicles, and will probably not apply for foreign vehicles. The test project was until the first of march 2023. How long are you planning on staying there? The tax/"fine" is €68/day, so might be easier/cheaper to just pay it for a day visit.
  21. Really? As far as I know most fittings have two o-rings... The missing bit I do have, and is back on now, just forgot to take a picture of it.
  22. Trying to trace down an air leak in the EAS, and came across this strange push-fit fitting on my rear bags that seems to be leaking slightly. That is with the "collet" removed, which was not the usual type with the fingers built in, but just a cylinder with a taper. Sadly forgot to take a picture of that. It looks like there is only one o-ring instead of the usual two. And it doesn't look replaceable, at least not as far as we could see with the bag still mounted in the car. Has anyone come across this before? Or is this a novel way that the Chinese cheaped out on my knock-off Gen 3s? Zoomed in view of the above picture: Almost looks like that brass insert is pressed in, so I can't really see a way of replacing that o-ring. Might be an option to tap a thread in it and replace it with a regular fitting?
  23. Good idea, but means everything needs to be contained to the box - water tanks, batteries, electric hookup, ... Not a big issue, but definitely needs to be taken into account, and may take away some usable interior space.
