  1. Enlightened ones, I seek a USB GPS receiver for my laptop for running MM in the landy. I have a bluetooth tomtom receiver which I use for my pda but it's a pain not being able to run the two devices at once off the one receiver so I'm looking at a USB reciever with a lead (bluetooth dongle on the laptop has proved a bit vulnerable in use). What features should I look for ? I don't need the latest all singing all dancing receiver, just a decent, reliable little unit that tells MM where I am TIA Mo
  2. If it's cutting the electrical supply to the fuel solenoid, which it should, then there's no reason why switching the live should not kill the engine. Mo
  3. mmm deep ... Pizza, gotta go Mo
  4. Adrian, it's the QT arms that cause the problem with the prop by rotating the axle back round therefore increasing the angle on the props. It's a bit of a trade off, you get your self centering back and get good at changing UJs or have good UJ life and poor steering centering. I went for the former and am now quite good at UJs Mo
  5. Quite right Toger, it does look good except for the ultimate style crime - tyre white lettering on the outside Mo
  6. There are two types of disco 200 air box and the filter is not interchangable. The later one has a pronounced flange at one end which is what I think you have. So you need the other 200 tdi discovery air filter. The Defender 200 air box is similar to yours but is the same length as the earlier disco box. Mo
  7. T, The only bolt on cross member that is bolted on to the chassis is the gearbox cross member (generally), the removal of which aids gearbox removal. Mo
  8. I didn't know you could make sheds out of copper or ali ! Be a trifle pricey wouldn't it ? I'd buy a wooden shed and line it with insulation, soon heat up then. Mo (Tongue firmly in cheek )
  9. T, Your rear cross member is welded on. When the painful time for replacement comes, you cut off the old one and weld a new one on, no bolts required. HTH Mo
  10. That looked like a good trip Barros We need to include that one on our itinerary, the pool would be a good stop if it's hot What temperatures can we expect at the end of May ? Mo
  11. Ah cunning, Bill, they changed the name eh ? Mo
  12. Interesting thread this, I'd like to comment but having never even seen TRO for sale let alone buy it, I shan't. Bit of a distribution problem there I'd say. Perhaps it's just as well. Mo
  13. I once got 30 following a 2 1/4 diesel at 45-50 all the way to Northumberland ! Cheap but painfully tedious After that 60 seemed suicidally fast I seem to get about 25 on motorway runs. How anyone can work it accurately to two decimal points beats me ! Dew, is that with a full load of coal and without a load Mo
  14. Also check UJs on front propshaft for slop which gives the same symptoms. Mo
  15. Many thanks to Chris for organising such a grand day out, best day's laning I've had in a while Thanks too to Si and Ralph for marshalling Nice to see faces old and new I suppose we have to wait for November now Mo
  16. Blimey ! Good job you got out when you did Si. At least you're Ok and while you may be saddened by the loss of your Landy you can cheer yourself with thoughts of a new project motor. Mo
  17. Flippin' heck Les, you must have been giving it some ! Mo
  18. I would imagine that it has more to do with fuel tanks and therefore clearance for the hitch mounting. The Tdi has the fuel tank under the drivers seat but the TD5 (all Defenders after 99 incl ROW) has the tank at the back behind the rear cross member. The two type of hitch mounting are probably to accommodate this difference ie. there's more room on a Tdi. HTH Mo
  19. Will, I don't have a front cross-member on my 90, I have a welded in winch mount made by Mr. Wightman. I haven't got an SVA either. Nor do I have any intention of getting one Mo
  20. I've noticed this before too ! Perhaps ebay links could be PMed in future ? Mo
