  1. Furneauxriddall is a great place, especially for battery cable and crimps (also good for other stuff). They are much better than vehicle wiring products. Very good at mail order via internet
  2. Not quite what you wanted by a 3.9 on 35" in a 90 with roll cage, winches, etc 16mpg on motorway runs 8mpg around town 2gpm (0.5mpg) on a challenge event
  3. Or search for Espar (the American name for eberspacher)
  4. Not quite true, there is no reason why you cannot either extend your coolant system or run a separate coolant system. We run a D5W to power 2 household radiators in our coach as a separate coolant system (OK, in a Land Rover that might be harder to do due to space)
  5. And I think that the "276" of DC88-276P is some sort of customer reference number for allbright I seem to remember. So it has no affect on the spec.
  6. My thoughts are that the 88" wheel base is a bit short for a challenge truck, standard 90 length (93"?) or some people go for 100" as they are more stable on hills. Also if you do a suspension lift your prop angles are probably going to cause a problem. A V8 can quite good in water, what to watch out for is water in the fuel (that got me twice, as engine running with standard fuel cap under water = water in fuel and engines of any type don't run on water). Also the other one is ECU under water (but you don't have one), I've never really had a problem with a good coil and 9 and 3 finger rubber gloves (always something else first).
  7. This reason for not using solenoids is rubbish, as mechanical switches can also weld themselves on. So using this reasoning you need two isolators for the FIA cutoff switch in case one fails. (which is actually how most winches are wired up with a mechanical and electrical operated cutoff switches, thus having redundancy)
  8. I always use http://www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk/ Place order on Internet and then collect, opens at 7:30am so I can pick up before going to work.
  9. Yes a common switch type for lights (OFF - Sidelights - Sidelight + main lights)
  10. If you cannot find a switch to match your needs then bridging the ON and ON contacts with a diode would work. e.g. When on the first ON current would be blocked from the second ON by the diode but when in the second ON position current would flow back to the first ON position. OR just go to VWP for a modular rocker (link) and get something like SW78712 Off/A/A+B Looks like carling also do the A+B type (see http://www.carlingtech.com/pdf/CarlingSW_V2_3.pdf page 6 in PDF type G* in the circuits section) Or if the signal circuit is not power as well, then a Double Poled OFF - ON - ON could be used e.g. Pole 1 - the ON and ON bridged for power Pole 2 - the Second ON to close the circuit with nothing on the first ON
  11. Very good is Harris Mayes Country Cars at Rickmansworth 01923 711800 (Peter) Google link to location And Video :-)
  12. Power steering seems to work all OK but it likes to push a lot of fluid out of the top of the reservoir cap even though it is at the correct fluid level (or lower) Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks
  13. My Southdown snorkel fits between the gap in the North Offroad challenge wings. Top half pic (with me pulling a face at the camera ) Bottom Half pic If you want I should be able to do a better pic tomorrow in the daylight with the wing top or even the side off.
  14. More important is when will the complete regulations become available? Are there any major changes over 2010?
  15. Close up of the lights A bit further away
  16. If you want to keep the standard(ish) look of a 90 then go for the standard ones. I have the standard North offroad ones and not really had an problems with the tubular bumper in front of the standard wings hitting anything when competing. So unless you are going to set the front winch back and move the rad back then the extreme ones don't add much. The North offroad ones have lasted well over 2 years of competitions, I have scraped the pop rivets off against trees and bent the ali sheet a few times, but it is easy to take the sheet off and use a big hammer to flatten it and then remount it again. One thing that North did that I like is to set the sidelights and indicators back at the same level of the headlights so that they don't get broken.
  17. I've had these For a couple of months with no problems.
  18. The door supplied with my prefab garage are of a similar design to the ones you have drawn. The main difference is they have a centre board at half height and with a diagonal in each half (all pointing to the centre) with tongued and grooved on the outside. e.g. This is good for 1.5 cars width opening (more than the single width shown in the picture) Construction was reasonably secure but increased by adding 12mm ply on the back just in case the managed to pull off or break through the outer layer. PS you could just buy one made to measure Linky
  19. I can say that a 90L tank @ 150psi will do 2 35" tyres from flat to 30 PSI. It slows a lot at the end as it is down to about 60 PSI by the time it is finished.
  20. A lot of people across the rear like Either inside or outside the tub. Devon 4x4 and other places do holders for them.
  21. Glad to here you identified the problem, and no hand brake turns from now on  (or upgrade the strength of the brake )
  22. Halfords had 1/3 off all their tools cabinet recently, all with bb runners.
