  1. I did this to my last 109 and it works well (but then how often do you need to bleed the clutch? ). Master feed went to the bottom of the slave and then a second pipe went up to the top of the engine with a bleed nipple on it. A bleed nipple will screw into a male (appropriate metric or imperial) brake pipe fitting, so you just need to make up some pipe and a bracket to fit it to the engine. If you attach the bleed nipple to the bulkhead or inner wing then you'll have to take into consideration engine/ gearbox movement relative to the bodywork. Vibration will eventually fracture the pipe and you'll lose the clutch. Les
  2. I used Bearmach parts for many years until they closed their local shop. Never had any problems with reliability or quality. Les
  3. You can use a harvester on forced hardwood as there's no lower branches and the trunk is straight. Les.
  4. The only other place you could fill it is by removing one of the top pin bolts (they are tapped right through). Les.
  5. Heavy duty Britpart clutch for £45.45. That's almost certainly going to be rubbish. Les
  6. Spin the wheel and listen for a rumbling/ roughness. A poorly adjusted bearing won't rumble. Any noise and the bearing needs replacing. Les.
  7. EP90 leak from the outside of the wheel is most likely to be hub cap or drive member gasket. - Les.
  8. Check the rubber 'hub cap'. If it's cracked or loose it will leak axle oil to the outside of the wheel. Les.
  9. I get mine for free or sometimes beer money. Mine is an open fire (log basket). I have to get what's available though, so I currently have oak, poplar, horse chestnut, and London plane. Can't burn softwoods though as they spit sparks all over the floor. Les.
  10. I've always removed the gearbox, but then it's always been at the side of the road or on someone's drive. In a pub car park on one occasion Les
  11. Everything has a value. Even if it doesn't you don't have the right to take it Les
  12. A chap I used to know took fallen timber from trees 'at the side of the road' The trees were on land owned by the local council and he was caught by the police and arrested. He got a conditional discharge for taking the wood. If it belongs to someone else, then you need permission. Les.
  13. You do realise that you'll be stealing it? Les.
  14. There's only compression loss usually. Effect on engine power depends on how badly the gasket has blown, but generally it's not noticeable. Les
  15. If leaking from behind, then seal (7), plus gasket 11, plus lockwasher 16 (if you are unable to use the old one). If leaking from the outside, then gasket 11. Les
  16. I would guess clutch. If the centre has broken free on the plate, then you will get the symptoms you describe. Whatever it is - you'll have to remove the gearbox anyway. Could also be the gearbox output splines (putting drive into the transfer case). Remove the pto cover and have a look first. Les
  17. 200TDi engines have a tendency to blow from No4 cylinder to the bulkhead. Put your hand down the back of the engine while it's running and you'll feel it if the gasket has gone this way. A leaking exhaust manifold gasket makes what seems like a clicking noise. Les.
  18. I did my second 109 chassis with Hammerite with Waxoyl and it lasted years until I scrapped the vehicle. Les
  19. If it's rotational play, then 10 deg is ok. Setting a diff is a lot of work and quite specialist. Some of that play might well be driveshaft spline wear. Les
  20. If it's a concrete panel then it might be steel reinforced in which case a masonry bit won't go though. Les
  21. If you are in the UK, then write to them (recorded delivery), explaining the damage and give them 14 days to respond. If you are still not satisfied, issue a county court summons. It will only cost you £30 ( I think), and you will get that back in a successful case (which is highly probable). Some of the damage in the pictures takes considerable force and in my opinion it's scrap. A few years ago I took delivery of one their rear crossmembers and the quality of it was appalling. I did a thread about it - When I bought a chassis, I got it from Richards. It was superb quality. Les
  22. I'd check the expander mechanism, as this a very common problem and quite easily fixed without having to buy any parts. It doesn't take that long to remove the drum and have a look to see what's what. Les
  23. Actually - looking at it again, it's a bit rubbish Les.
  24. I've had arc eye ( excessive ultra violet light in the eyes), exposed 2 knuckle joints and split the tendon on my index finger on my left hand, plus got scaringly close to castrating myself with burst grinding and cutting discs, A welding spark in the ear is something I have experienced quite a few times Les.
  25. A cross drilled input gear is good, but the damage has already been done. The gearbox output shaft splines will eventually wear to a point where drive to the transfer box will stop. The transfer box itself will most likely be fine, but you will eventually need a replacement gearbox or shaft and an input gear. The clunk when taking up drive will slowly get worse/louder, and eventually you will lose drive. Les
