  1. i know its not in peebleshire but i would whole heartedly recomend the team @ 4muddyfeet in morpeth, ive competed with robbie from 4mf & have had plenty of parts from them for doing hobles,
  2. ;spinoff: ive just today dropped my td5 challenge buggy off at allisport to have there prototype/development charge cooler system installed, i know that allisport also have a 300tdi challenge buggy in awaiting a chargecooler similar to whats being fitted to mine, i dont have much information available about it just now but it will be on display at the indoor show :/spinoff:
  3. 10psi? is it a 200 or a 300? 200 is 12psi standard & 300 is 14 psi standard
  4. the actutor rod is held onto the actuator arm by a small "e" clip & its a pain to remove in place without loosing it or breaking it
  5. on what? the trialer, no idea, it was never driven long enough for the heat to build up, on my 90, i think it was 700's
  6. your not northern, youre more middle of the country  the trialer i used to use had the wastegate welded up say hello to 29psi of boost at the manifold, standard 200tdi disco turbo giving all it could, eventually died but i think it was injesting a large amount of water on its side that sent it on its way, that engine did 2 trials a month driven by 3 people each time, it did more trials in a year than most people do in a decent trialling career i did run 26 on my tdi 90 for a bit bit it would lift the headgasket slightly & cause it to blow the water out, got bored of changing the headgasket every 2k
  7. horse jebus grammar isnt that hard he had a mega modified head with alfa valves in it, as far as im aware it had the biggest valves that could possibly fit, hybrid turbo, fully balanced engine with lots of little tweaks, i think it had a different cam aswel, pump was a mega modified affair with truck internals & custom bits, i briefly spoke to the chap who overhauled the pump & he commented it was the most modified pump he had seen internally for a landrover, different injectors/ tips, basically lots & lots of little bits making a difference, ive had my tdi on the dyno @ 160bhp at the flywheel running approx 24psi of boost, was used as a daily driver for 2 years before it was changed for an auto setup,
  8. ive had 900+ before but its not really good for the turbo, i did have a picture on my home pc of the turbo glowing white hot, realy really not good for the lifespan of it on my egt guage i had the buzzer set to 750c as thats as much as id want to run WOT on the road, offroad it never really beeped & if it did it got ignored
  9. i had my previous 90 @ 160 & it was nice & reliable at that, yeh it smoked a bit but didnt break, & i know of a tomcat with a 200+ tdi in it, it however does smoke quite a bit
  10. halfords have there screenwash for £3.99 for 5L
  11. http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=67529&category_id=254&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=14
  12. the low box ratio is all the same in the lt230 tbox's however the high ratio is what changes, i did have a 1.2 in mine & although i could use highbox with the 37's it needed the high ratio dropping, so for now ive fitted a 1.4 but if i could get a 1.6 id fit that instead
  13. steve........................ ill give the 1.6 a home,
  14. £1200+? only if you buy at TD5 alive  Bell Auto services are £795+v inc a boost box (info here ) http://bellautoservi...-vnt-vgt-turbo/ i have one from pete & it took just over an hour to fit, no messing about job done & its brilliant, really happy with the performance of my td5 (even if its gonna get some moaaaaaar) quick video here (trialling a challenge truck)
  15. i put a hole in the sidewall of one if my creepys & had it repaired buy a plant tyre place, cost about £40 which was much better than trying to source a replacement tyre
  16. beaten me to it, if you have a manufacturers hard top / roof you technically dont even need a cage, its mearly a recomendation, thus why with a kingcab (i had one) the rear hoop can be in the back & still be perfectly acceptable,
  17. cos then the weight saving is lost, CDS is a "nicer" material than blue band, T45 is a nicer material than CDS, however nice they are & strong they are on paper it doesnt account for the fact we do things to the tube that the manufacturers didnt design the tube to do, going racing & having an internal cage then IMHO CDS/t45 is as good as it gets, for an external cage then unless you use the thick wall cds you are no worse of using blueband as its much more resiliant to knocks & impacts, i know of 2 truck cab cages made from T45 that have had to have major repairs to them, 1 vehicle was rolled & the other was lent on a tree hard, if they were blueband or thickwall cds then i very much doubt that they would have needed the repairs, i am also aware of a cds spaceframe that had a lie down at the decider & resulted in bent sidebars & the tube torn away from the welds, my own spaceframe which is built from blueband has been over couple o times now & have hit trees "hard" & as yet there isnt any damage or dinks & dents to the tube, its all swings & roundabouts but to say that blueband shouldnt be used & will get you killed is utter rubbish,
  18. probably very much like your cage but without the dents & dinks
  19. at last some sense in here, main reason why my spaceframe is made from blueband instead of cds,
  20. on a 300tdi ive never bothered with worrying about if cylinder 1 is at tdc, unbolt vacum pump & refit as required
  21. you can, but just because you can doesnt mean its a good idea, personally id drive it for a bit more whilst loking out for another box, that way you can still change it & have the current box rebuilt, if you weld it it the box & transfer box become scrap if anything else goes like a syncro etc
  22. but i bet it would work bloody well as a class 5 trialler, having driven a tdi powered single seater in class 5 with a welded diff upfront it went everywhere it was pointed, tbh for 2k its pretty cheap trialler
