  1. Why 2.75m long, is there a reason for the length and direction of travel. Regards Frax
  2. Does anyone know what the door gap between the rear tub and the bulkhead on a 1995 300tdi 90. My Defender is going back together and I have just noticed that the gap is just over ¼” larger on one side. Do I adjust the bulkhead or the rear tub ?. I know that the tolerance is not that great even when they are new and I have seen a size somewhere but where I don’t know. Regards Frax
  3. I fitted on to my 300tdi but as it is being rebuilt I have not tried it yet, will keep an eye on this to see if anyone else has had a problem. Frax
  4. Stupid question but did it work OK before you fitted the TD5 dash. Frax
  5. I would try changing the switch on the steering wheel as that is the place that it can get power from and it should cut the power when asked to or the wiper relay which is behind the fuse box and is red, it may also be faulty, Relay first as it should not cost so much. Regards Frax
  6. Talcum powder only lets the belt slip silently; Best idea is to adjust it as it should be. Failing that try some Coco Cola on the belt, leave it till it tries and it goes sticky and will help it grip the pulley. It will work for a while but as said if properly adjusted it should not slip. Regards Frax
  7. You will require new engine mounts welded on for the 300tdi – Richards chassis sell them – and if you change the gearbox and transfer box you will also need a gearbox cross member, these just bolt in place and the holes are already there. As for fitting Disco – you will get better road speed but not sure if you need to change the props. Sure someone will be along soon with the answer to that. Frax
  8. They are radius bars and they do have bushes at both end of each bar. Regards Frax
  9. Buy a Raptor Dash pod from raptor engineering and stick in that. Just got one and they are really well made. Before that I had it mounted under the dash just opposite the hand brake. Regards Frax
  10. Never thought about that, Fitted all the hoses to the radiator yesterday + the top support and I now have about 2" so na that bad but hardly any of the cowl left as you will see. Fitting a new cowl from a Mondeo would be a no go so will live with it the way it is now. Regards Frax
  11. I think they are m12 but not 100% sure as I have nothing to check them with. Regards Frax
  12. I used 10sq ft at £33 and that did the bulkhead just. Regards Frax
  13. I used fatmat which came from ebay, I can not tell you how good it is as I have not finished my rebuild yet. Easy to cut and fit and it realy sticks. Regards Frax
  14. Thanks for that Gary, just what I was after. Frax
  15. Richards’s chassis also do them if you give them a call; I got some for a 300tdi. Can’t remember what I paid for them but it was not much and they were delivered quickly. Regards Frax
  16. Got it fitted but as you will see space is tight. Cut two pieces of plate for top and bottom and cut out the diameter of the fan hosing (1mm cutting disks are great) and riveted it to the plastic part of the cowl that was left. Not my best job and I may change it for a new cowl at some point but still unsure if a new cowl will fit in the space. Plates fitted = Space I had to play with = Regards Frax
  17. Thanks for that, I did see that when I did a hunt which I wish I had done before I chopped the cowl to fit inside the old cowl. The 300tdi does not have as much room. Will go out just now and try to do somthing with it. Lots of info on here - just wish I had read it before I choped bits off. Well back to it. Regards Frax If any one has a wiring diagram for a single twin speed with x eng stat and carling switch that would be really helpfull........
  18. I can see how that would help after looking at some of yours. Really glad you kept all your info, it has been of great help to loads of us. It is so easy to rush through it all and think you will remember, a few years down the line and you have the enevitable problem and you cant remember what you had for dinner last night. Thanks again. Frax
  19. Has anyone fitted an electric fan from a Mondeo into a 300tdi. I thought I had done a great job, cut the Mondeo shroud and placed it into the 300tdi shroud and held it in place with angle brackets. When I went to fit it tonight I found that the fan motor was hitting the spigot from the old fan. My fan was sitting about 2” from the radiator. Anyone got any pictures of how they fitted their Mondeo fan. Regards Frax
  20. Have done Ralf and ran it up the oil pressure switch wire and along the loom. Was able to squeeze it through the large gromit with the rest of the loom. Just need to finish the rest of my dash now and fit the VDO Gauge. Regards Frax
  21. And fitted. Regards and thank you for all the help. Frax
  22. When I was on the hunt for the same wing I found that most suppliers supply then with no cut out for the indicator. It was a matter of cutting the desired hole out your self. Regards Frax
  23. Hi they fit thermostats for a reason, Operating temp should be kept is it gives better running and fuel economy. It might not be too bad now but wait till winter and you will find that you have no heater. Regards Frax
  24. Thank you for all that, I now know what I need to do to get there. Now to hunt down some fittings. Regards Frax
