  1. Do you want me to tell you which port goes to which wheel etc?
  2. Safety and insurance isnt an issue, im building a discovery challenge truck, so i would like to convert to single port calipers and a 2 port master cylinder, cheers orgasmic farmer!!
  3. now then, Can someone explain quite what the point in the dual brake pipes on the front of my 93 200tdi disco? Id like to convert to single brake pipes, so what calipers should i use and also what brake cylinder should i use? thanks for any light and the matter
  4. Not really an accurate indication of scrap metal prices, as the scrap man needs to pay to get rid of tyres, oils and plastic trims. Scap ferous depends on condition and how 'clean' the scrap is. Scrap steel prices around derbyshire are ~170 quid.
  5. Aragon can you take pictures and post them up please, ive got a two No.25's that would live some TLC and itd be nice to see whats involved!!
  6. Seems as straight answers are a thing of the past on the forums, even mods can't keep to the rules. Timing chest needs to be swapped across with water pump. The alternator will now sit in the lower defender position (not as good IMHO) Turbo manifold swapped, again not really that greatest idea as the disco postion is better for air flow. Obviously for use in a defender/90/110 a 200tdi defender downpipe will now need to be used, if disco manifold and turbo are kept a Steve parker downpipe or a custom made (IMHO very easy to make if your handy with the pigeon gun). Thats all there is to it. (i think) If your going to the trouble to converting the engine to Def spec you wont be cutting corners so I imagine you will use a Def radiator and intercooler. Disco rad and IC CAN be used, but the mounts need a very simple modification. Hope this helps!
  7. first off, running reversed disco steels on the road is highly illigal and not terribly safe. Avon range masters quite frankly arnt worth the money, you can buy much better for £60 a corner. You should also check the ratings of avon range masters, i dont believe they are suitable for a discovery.
  8. That bumper is freakin huge and ugly and heavy and everything i wouldn't want!!! You say £1000 thats IMHO A LOT of money to spend on a bumper and winch, well for overlanding perhaps not in a winch challenge situation. Goldfish winch
  9. FAIL Now, It is quite possible to add a wing top, as most defenders have a blanked off panel on the offside wing.( a TD5 certainly does) especially as the TD5 air intake is on the offside anyhow! it wouldn't be hard to pipe up to this. You could probably do it with standard off the shelf parts! Have you seen the military wingtop covery things? i figured they are to stop snow entering the intake, worth a look! CLICKY LINKY
  10. I certainly would be up for writing all sorts of read throughs for various things. I quite often come across a job that isnt documented online and not being in any landrover club nor having a father or friends that are/have been keen on mechanics I sometimes have to bite the bullet and do things the wrong and expensive way! Im a helpful chap and have taken a lot from these forums, Ive made my donations, but knowledge is the best thing to repay!
  11. I thought it was pretty darn good for the first LR show ive been to! Bought some nice shiny bits from the giggle pin stand
  12. To be quite honest I don't think it would do a great deal.. probably pop some fuses but no real damage! a 1999 and diesel so its TD5, dependant on condition and quite how cheap you get it you could make a profit on this. I dont see it being an expensive fix!
  13. Its the the same gear box, perhaps a slightly different suffix/prefix but nothing that will effect operation
  14. Another TD5 pointer, is to check the bolts are tight on the front of the sump
  15. I wouldn't worry, somebody with an answer will be along shortly I know what the spring and groove etc is all for... but im unfamiliar with the pump, having never taken one apart!
  16. Theres not that many different sizes... and when i rebuilt mine i drilled some smaller ones out to take slightly bigger bolts
  17. My aunt had a brand new ifor williams horse trailer stolen the day it was delieved, it was found about 2 years later at an auction in Ireland. One of our friends actually saw it the night it was being towed off. Transit van towing a brand new trailer with 3 wheels should have rung alarm bells but its not his fault hes simple. I am hopefully, once ive passed my trailer test, going to buy a flat bed trailer. Im going to chain it down to a lump of concrete and weld my number plate into the chassis. Paint my numberplate onto the roof (you'd be suprised how handy this can be) and buy a decent set of wheel clamps. Im also going to put a big (read 1tonne) tree stump infront of it, so it cannot be moved without the use of a digger/tractor. My house used to be targeted quite frequently as we have 2 discoverys, 2 90's a cattle trailer and horse trailer but since ive become older and im gettin back home regularly at 1am you never hear anyone crunching the gravel outside our house anymore. My Dad used to frequently chase people in our old discovery!
  18. the PCD is different again on discovery 3/4's and range rovers. You will more than definitely be able to buy some tyres to dit on its original rims tho, or another set of correct rims.
  19. Look at his other 90 he has for sale, then look at his feedback and you can find the same 90 when he bought it not long ago... its an absolute scrap heap! hes obviously body filled all the rust holes!
  20. I cant find the thread, but there was a td5 90 that had AWFUL scaffolding welded all around it... well look at it now! EBAY LINKY I tell you, hes made a good job!! (i recongised the number plate... because nige(i think) made a Bel... joke )
  21. All young people are tailgaters? You Sir need to think about the statement you have just made. I assure you I've met some middle/old aged men right up my arse (not in that way). Storys like these, farmers getting mud on the road cause so much agro its untrue and here you are boasting about it. You could have caused an accident, and you were putting people lives in danger. This is a stupid thread for lesser minded people, I'm not entirely sure why the Mods havn't locked and deleted this thread, Im sure less damaging threads have been deleted! PS. Landroversforever has made 3 comments on this thread. The first is acceptable (he still didnt engage his brain before typing a reply) and the other 2 are just plain daft and completely pointless. I thought this was a technical forum(?), he clutters up threads like i dont know what!! /rant
