    if the air filter was wet then how much water did she take in if its hydrauliced then maybe a bent con rod/s or even done the head gasket i had a perkins prima take in water and this blew the head gasket on 1,3,4 but didnt bend conrods hope this helps.

  3. like its been said cfm is the biggest problem when i left school i done shotblasting for 3 years,we had 2 600cfm compressors to work 2 blast pots and various airless spray equipment like its been said the small ones are good but take a while depending on what medium your going to use sand,chilled iron,j blast,etc we used glass bead on alloy which gave a nice finish where chilled iron would tear it to pieces and dust extraction is a must our blast bay was 60x15 and with no extraction on after 30 seconds you couldnt see your hand in front of your face,chris.
  4. i would put the correct fuses in place the only ones on my disco that aint standard are the side light fuses thay are 5amp more for the trailer board other than that thay are all standard it was probably the previous owner replacing with what ever was available,chris.
  5. my dad worked in a shipyard all his life and was quite clever with knots/splicing he always said if a rope was going to break it would break as the splice as this was the weakest point.chris

  8. as its been said hot zinc spray or hot aluminium spray when i left school i worked as a shotblaster paint sprayer we also done hot zinc and aluminium spraying the beauty with this you can put what thickness you want on usually about 150 microns a lot of navy stuff was metal sprayed my uncle has a factory in witham essex i know your a fair way from here,chris.
  9. my water pump went the other week that began squeaking and after a hour or so it was undrivable have a look around the rear of the water pump pulley to see if the leak is from there
  10. i have a similar problem with the passenger door,after taking the door card off there is a nylon plunger/rod on the rear of the door handle which pushes against a piece of metal i found that this piece of nylon rod is bending and not pushing the metal enough im going to look this weekend with a view to make a metal sleeve to go over this,chris.

  12. just a thought is there a large fuse on the lead from the battery like there is on the transit vans just a thought i know on transit vans this blows if you try to start it in gear,chris.
  13. i fitted the durite split charge over the christmas holiday it works ok my second battery runs my spots and cb and various other pieces there is some cheaper prices i got mine for 32 including vat its a fit and forget piece chris.
  14. i did think of that and my next thought was to drill a hole through the rim and mounting bracket and use a block lock or similar
  15. as the topic rearly my dogs probably saved my spare going from the disco last night after a lot of barking at about midnight,when i went out this morning 2 of the nuts laid on the ground oviously disturbed by the dogs,ive looked at a chain and lock what do you suggest is there anything on the market thanks in advance chris.

    i forgot to mention last time it done about 57000 so i suppose that cant be grumbled about cheers for the replies,chris.
  18. thay fit a very similar lamp to jcb 3cx as work lamps twin bulbs a very good lamp thay light up the front end no problem i have 2 of the square one on the rear of the disco thay are also a good lamp ive been looking at the led worklights durite have these in their 2010 catalogue
  19. as the topic says when i purchased my 300tdi disco it had a new water pump fitted make not known yesterday it sprang a leak and within half hour it was a very big leak through the shaft/spindle got a new pump tonight fitted ok,the pump had been on for 3 and a half years is this good your thoughts chris.
  20. i agree with bm i have a 24mm 3 strand nylon rope i think its 8 metre it was about 35 quid there is several on ebay already made complete with shackles like you said a strop takes no prisoners but you can feel the nylon start to stretch as it takes the weight what do you carry in your traffic cars around here thay seem to use that multi coloured bungee for towing cars off the carriageway,chris.
  21. if the belt slipping on the pulley i had a similar problem replaced the belt and its is ok now
  22. ive got the britpart yellow hd springs i think it gives 40mm but its a lot firmer ride than before i think thay were about 50 quid a pair cant say what thay will be like after 4 years chris.
  23. at least it makes a change to use vehicles that the working class can afford rather than top of the range motors
