  1. Call that a rusty 90 That's what happens when you buy one off a fisherman at Bridlington
  2. My Isuzu in the old 110 had two stop solenoids, one obvious and one secreted round the back of the pump maybe you haven't got them both powered up. Engine is a stonker they just pull and pull especially if yoy tweak the fuelling up a bit.
  3. That's a definite replacement, cos you have only just started poking the whole of that x member looks dodgy to me, having done three in the past few years. Once you have the floor out there may be more to see as well, the front of the wheel arches as previously pointed out will no doubt need looking at as well. Whats the front end like cos the body mounts there, up by the headlight panels like doing the same, then there's the inner wings ? front bulkhead mount under the floor at the bottom of the bulkhead. Give every thing a good look at before you start cos it may end up like the Forth Bridge !!
  4. My old RR ran a mighty Nissan 6 pot diesel mated to the LT95 so my conversion was relatively easy. I took out the engine and box, rad etc engine mounts cut off. Took the floor out being an early one that was easy as it unbolts. So lots of clear space, we heaved the tdi and gearbox in onto the existing gearbox mounts. Suspended the engine from the crane, attached the engine mounts, cut off the old RR it came out of marked up where they should go, tacked them in. Then removed the engine and box. Welded the mounts in refixed the negine and gearbox. Very easy, I used the tdi radiator out of a Disco with the intercooler, slight adjustment to top and bottom mounts. Replumbed the rads connected the fuel lines using a LR fuel filter. All works well, only issue is getting the rocker cover off as it is tight on the bulkhead. I just dropped the ngine off the mounts and adjusted tappets, then lifted engine back up. Exhaust is Disco 200tdi. Inside we cut the top off the LT77 gearbox tunnel and grafted it onto the old LT95 tunnel, it works even though it's a bit scruffy, but the rest of it is like that ! Couple of pics attached
  5. Probably got an offside light cluster in the heap of stuff in the barn, Sort Out is on a farm at Brimham HG3 3HE just above Pately Bridge, I usually end up doing some lanes on the way back through the Dales making a nice day out !!
  6. I will remove it anyway as it's a shame to waste it, can store no problem, may take it to the Brimham Sort Out if you are interested 9th August up by Ripon. They are about £60.00 new but it would be very cheap if needed !
  7. May be useful I have a RR about to go to the scrapyard with a really good rear x member if interested could cut it out before it goes ? It was installed a year or so ago but the rest of the car rotted away, there's an ally floor as well somewhere in the pile of stuff. Can get it to Leeds very easily.
  8. What he needs is the complete engine, gearbox, rads and intercooler from the Disco, cut the engine mounts off the Disco. Put it all in the RR after putting in a clutch pedal !! Mine has a 200tdi with a manual box from a Disco, easy conversion works well, but no so good latched to an auto, as all the shift points for the V8 won't suit the diesel.
  9. Would agree with that give the rear x member a real good look at and possibly take the tank out and look very carefully at the rear chassis legs. Having had to spend a few hours welding daughters RR which appeared to have been used for launching boats given all the rot was at the back it would make sense to spend some time whilst the floor is out.
  10. If you have seen some of the wrecks in an ABRO yard then you would see a lot of bent Salisburys it happens every time the parachutes fail to open when they chuck them out of planes !!
  11. I think you are 100% correct that's what we fitted to daughters RR a small lift and a bit stiffer, much better than some replacements !!
  12. Some issues I believe with turbo's after 120k which is a humungous job as the body has to come off to change it !!! Stepbrother had lots of electricla issues with his at first, 54 plate but since then nothing major. Biggest issue is the ten pound not shredding depreciation !! Stepbrother was offered £7500.00 for his against a new one recently, that's £35k in four years not for me !! Have a look on the D3 owners club site for more info on issues lots there
  13. Gorbeck is the only route I would consider using, Arncliffe Cote is not passable due to narrow gates, Stockdale Lane is too narrow and Harber appears to be totally disputed. The Bobblies especially Mr Bartholomews anti motorised users YDGLA will be out in force now to "Police" the voluntary restraint request with cameras etc etc so keep to the guidelines please. Until we get Mr B and his cronies the 6 or 7 paid up members of the Ramblers off the LAF we are fighting a war here, we have won the first battle but there's a long way to go yet.
  14. Cumbria Rovers Owners Club http://www.cumbrianrovers.co.uk/new-site/Index.html North Lakes 4x4 club http://www.nl4x4.co.uk/ But as Tim said keep in touch we get out fairly frequently on lanes around the area, but through the summer tend to stay away from LDNP as it's over run with Bobblies.
  15. Basically the roller fairleads go missing, get broken so are like rocking horse pooh so market forces apply, not very surprised at the price really.
  16. Bit of lateral thinking I used to use them for stuff when I was into misguided Hot Rods and stupid Cobra kit cars, they do have some really nice stuff along with people like Real Steel for V8 stuff. Nice to see a complete catalogue available with logical layout etc.
  17. Try the kit car suppliers, I have always found these guys helpful http://www.nfauto.co.uk/
  18. I am sure I have some lying around just up the road and across a bit !! How many do you need just a couple ?
  19. Local scrapyard has a virtually complete 2 door lying in the yard, missing internal door trims but the rest is there, could give it a look if you want, otherwise I have one to break when I collect it that has everything on it bar wiper stalk and steering wheel. Both have the plastic cill trims complete.
  20. Have seen it done on a RR before both of daughters RRs have had the ABS removed and replaced with a standard servo etc, no problems with it working well. All the wiring was still there and the ABS light didn't work so no MOT issue, but I am not sure where you stand with this technically, if the vehicle was built with ABS the modification obviously needs notifying to insurers and as the manufacturer also built vehicles without ABS it seems logically OK. But in this litigous age is anyone sure of where we stand !! Should add of course that my 82 RR never has had ABS
  21. Been a few times, it's quite small but a working quarry so changes every time you go, good climbs and a couple of good mud holes last time, should keep you entertained for a day ! Can't make this weekend going laning up in the North Pennines if my water pump arrives in time.
  22. I used to use a large G clamp and a piece of tube with a slot cut in it, put the tube on the washer with the slot lined up to the split pin hole, tighten up G cramp and the hole will appear, slide in split pin, always worked for me until I lost the bit of tube in a clear out
  23. To be really accurate you need to check it over several tank fulls, I keep total anorak mpg records for my road cars so the (dare I say it) JEEP Patriot has averaged 42.69 mpg from day 1, it's got the VW 2 litre diesel which is renowned for good economy. My Rangie with a 200 tdi is now giving a smidge over 30mpg, but it doesn't do too many miles also spends a lot of time in low range greenlaning, so I am well pleased with that as well.
  24. Pretty sure Nene Overland will sell you one of those all done !!
  25. Agree totally they should be able to move, that's why when people put polybushes on them the top eye rips off too little movement with a poly bush. Have run them for years and had no problems but always used rubber bushes. Every snapped one i have seen has had Polybushes in
