  1. No success. Different company. Very polite people though. Anyway, I've pumped oil in everywhere. In most places it just goes in and flushes out the grey/brown stuff. But in some places the oil doesn't go in, it gets spat out. I'm assuming this means that I've to engage that lever before the oil can go in, or something. It's made a difference, the main saddle is quieter to move. And the slides feel, slicker, I suppose. I've also figured out why the main saddle has a 'skip', it's the rack bolted under the bed, as the gear moves from section to section, there's a miss beat, almost, that I feel through the wheel. Perceptible, but not an issue, and, since I've oiled the gear, nearly gone. I've still not looked at the drum switch yet. Time is precious. I'll get to it.
  2. I wonder if they are related. Different spelling, but worth an email!
  3. No joy. Austrian maker. No web presence, either. Erdmann.
  4. Thanks VB, regrettably, no manual came with the lathe. Once it's flushed through, it will be little and often.
  5. The doors will show you where the alignment needs work, if any. Remember, you can shim the cappings up if the tops don't quite fit.
  6. My first Landrover engine. I hated it, bought a Datsun patrol as a replacement. That was great in comparison, with a super smooth 6 cylinder diesel that drank diesel. I could never understand why rover persisted with 4 pot engines.
  7. The Slide oil and oil can arrived today. Assuming this hasn't been lubed in a decade, I guess the best thing to do is to pump oil into everything until it comes out somewhere clean? Then repeat with the screws half way along and then at the other end, for the slides?
  8. There was someone on eBay doing leather covers for this, wasn't there? Might be easier, though not cheaper.
  9. Could be series 3? Can you get a wider angle shot? The bolt pattern would help.
  10. The 109 tub cappings do fit, as will the hoops for the canvas. But the canvas shouldn't, as the windscreen is different. But you'd be better off buying a LWB series, simply because they are a far superior vehicle. ( Grabs coat and leaves before the flames are thrown ).
  11. The Wizards over on the MIG welding forum could help, try there?
  12. I never thought of plastic. It makes sense, but can I use the same tooling on the lathe?
  13. I saw a new cruiser on the road last weekend. It was certainly very retro. Very FJ. I liked it. White roof, non metallic. Very nice. I didn't know they were in production to be honest.
  14. Those clips look ideal. I'll look out for them. I've the ball bearing type oilers. I think I'll need a new oil can. Thanks!
  15. I think I'll get a chunk of ally to play with. Thanks all.
  16. I've a few seals to fit, and I would like to get a bit smarter at fitting them. What's the best material to make a tool for a seal fitting thing? Ali or steel?
  17. The issue with oil bath is the risk of interaction of an oily air stream with a turbo. But better for na engines, despite taking longer to service.
  18. Amazed by that. I'd have though too runny?
  19. The snorkel version of the oil bath air filter is hard to find. If anyone has one, please PM me. My lightweight is going to get one. The idea of a few feet of water stopping my truck is annoying.
  20. Copper slip on the studs will burn off the grease, only leaving the copper.
  21. Have you the green Bible? There was a thread ages ago on a rebuild, try find it.
  22. The centre drills worked a treat. This was the insert that adapts the cap stud to the CV hole. Happy.
  23. 6x6 series. No idea on value, but get it.
