  1. there's your problem, the tits have eaten all your LR spiders, and now it's throwing a major paddy - get rid of em and entice some fresh ones back in, if need be order a pack of ten so you've got some spares.....
  2. lightweight - we start at 6 round here....... :moglite: we've all been there - stripped it refitted it, bugger, it doesn't work, take it back off, substitute a "spare" one from the garage/shed/pile of bits in garden, still doesn't work - then the inevitable eureka moment as you realis it was a broken one you left outside......... where's the fun in having something that you can fix once and not worry about again for another 60k miles.......all part of the fun
  3. it didn't happen he changed his mind, and was also offered a good deal on a defender & a chassis to stick under it so is going down that route now instead. AFAIK the lightweight is still there, and still for sale
  4. can you get a small trailer to put it in? maybe investigate some of the hire shops, quite a few of them hire trailers per day. take a pallet, strap engine to that when it's loaded, lift out with tele handler - simples
  5. As title really, are there any of the lr4x4 forum window stickers left? would like some of the internal white ones, can't remember the size though, but the same as i had before. the newer truck looks bare without them
  6. here you go https://www.paypal-marketing.co.uk/safetyadvice/SecurityKey.htm
  7. doesn't look like it was even designed with euro 1 in mind (from wikipedia)
  8. smoke from startup, leave it ticking over for a few minutes, then blip the throttle - blue smoke is usually worn turbo seals. ask about cambelt too. sunroof leaks, leccy windows (window ecu dry solder problem). check around the seat bases where they mount to floor too - seen a few rusting there. try and look/feel up inside the rear 1/4's too, crustyness can be found there too. check the rear x member too, from under the rear arches. seat belt mounts and arches by c pillar
  9. priceless - that should be a window sticker
  10. according to that, then yes, piston size will make a difference, as the v12 had a cyclinder volume of 250cc compared to 750cc for the 4 pot
  11. um, shouldn't someone tell him it's a chain on the TD5???? and as for the NASA snorkel.....well, is it made from left over shuttle parts??? also some of the pictures are off another listing from an iphone - curious
  12. that was my suspicion too. previous owner said he'd had a new one fitted, but i don't think the reservoir was replaced - it split round the plastic welded seam. makes me wonder if it was a britpart m/cyl i may end up changing the whole thing for peace of mind - will see what turns up from BM today. Have booked Friday off to finish the job - going to change the rear pads/calipers/discs & bearings as well and bleed the whole system to be sure. (they were on the cards anyway)
  13. well, disaster struck last night. dropped the pressure in my spare wheel to 15psi, connected it up, and it blew the reservoir wide open (instructions say no more than 20psi). so new reservoir/master cyl on order today.
  14. only one way up that these can go, otherwise the pipe would be touching the inside of the wheel
  15. according to the previous owner, it's had a new m/cyl fitted (and from the look of it and the really clean fluid that's in there, i don't have reason to not believe him) system hasn't been drained, just the front calipers and rigid lines replaced. going to try an eezi bleed kit tonight, see if that helps
  16. help! having now got the right pad fitting kit, made new lines, checked for fluid leaks etc i cannot get the front brakes to bleed. have tried both methods, pipe in bottle of fluid, and the good old push pedal, open nipple, close nipple etc...and neither method has worked. basically we have done; changed calipers for vented defender 110 items new rigid lines from flexi to caliper now, just before i did a basil fawlty and beat seven shades out if it with the nearest tree branch, i noticed bubbles rising in the master cylinder. it's my 97 300tdi with abs need to get it sorted by tomorrow night, other half needs her bike back for work
  17. Now, this is not your normal type of ABS lamp question. My 97/8 300 has got ABS, all the bit's n bobs are there (that i can see) so no reason for it not to work. However, the ABS light doesn't even come on with the ignition (bulb is ok, i changed them all a few weeks back) and hasn't since i got it. I've got wiring diagrams (from autodata) and the Haynes ABS manual (very useful) but am at a loss as tow where to start looking for the fault. Any ideas?
  18. sounds like a made up job title in some council office somewhere. nice to see *cough* symapathetic engineering that ties in wth the original design so well he's only into light stuff really - nothing too heavy
  19. has anyone got the part number for the wheel cover on page 56 of the new LRO????
  20. 2nd time i've had a look at the, um, "interesting" creation in the link - and it still doesn't look any better. makes me think the top gear boys have been playing again.........
  21. ahh i see now. it is a pile of beurocratic carp tbh, just creates hassle for all concerned. you probably wouldn't be surprised to hear that we get quite a few irate customers when they realise that they haven't got the logbook with them
