  1. My LT85 makes a similar noise to what you're describing, there's a couple of things that are probably going on. It's hard to be exact, but these are options. First thing, the noise is almost certainly present all the time but you're not moving so it's not drowned out by all the other noises. 1. You're hearing the clutch release bearing when it contacts, it's probably fine but if you don't know when it was changed, it may be on the way out. If it's making noise when you're not operating the clutch pedal, it's not the pivot. If you're getting clean gearshifts with no grinding, there's no reason to suspect the master or slave cylinders. 2. More likely, you're hearing the input shaft turning. These boxes are noisy, it's one thing I hate about mine. When I had it reconditioned by Ashcrofts and it was essentially brand new, I could still hear the innards even when turning the shaft by hand; magnify that by whatever rpm the engine is putting through it, and you're going to have noise. I will try to find the video where I recorded the noise they make. It doesn't sound "pump" like to me, just rotating bearings and gears. Does the noise start as soon as the clutch is released and then stay until you put it in gear/drop the clutch again, or does it go away/change? With regards to the oil pump, not something I'm familiar with, but if this noise is new then something has changed which means either wear or failure. In any case, it would be well worth doing an oil change if not done for a while, it can't hurt anything. 20W50 engine oil is cheap, I'm about to do mine.
  2. It's a shame Adwest have wrapped up their business. Really limits options.
  3. I was going to say this. If you're messing around with this sort of stuff, a first aid kit becomes essential. And they're meaningless without the training to use it.
  4. You said it on the other page of this thread 😄 I have the Gemmer box so fewer options for refurbished units but I have found a potentially new unit. Waiting to hear back from the seller.
  5. I would have been happy to never know the cost of this, but I also understand the reasons for asking. I don't want to make some trite, obvious statement but for me, what else could be had for the money is irrelevant as it is about achieving this specific goal. You'll have a better-than-new RRC at the end of it, built exactly how you want it.
  6. Weird timing. My steering box has just started leaking, as much as I'd love to be the guineapig that tries out one of these, they're extremely sus. Think I'll look up my options getting a refurb done, cannot believe how expensive any of the options are though.
  7. I hope to soon be enquiring about a pair of lockers and associated bits. I'm sure if I spend more money on it, it'll start to love me back.
  8. The differences in the driving styles and results achieved in that video is interesting.
  9. Is there a supply issue with Ashlockers though? Been out of stock for months.
  10. Can the noise rule be 'must make a noise of a V8'?
  11. That sounds like a very real possiblity, I did look on the site first but the other sites just make it a bit far. Though I probably can't complain with my heated seats and fully enclosed cockpit....... (cough LGT cough)... It would be good to finally make one of these rather than just saying it.
  12. Those are great pictures. 10/10 would kayak that pond.
  13. It was, I have made the appropriate corrections! I thought censors were there to make posts less offensive... Your Audi rode very well, though that being a sports car makes me nervous. The pitching of a 90 might be even more pronounced with stiff/sports shocks. We can only wait and see. There are another Bilstein set that is £400ish, I think they were standard fitment on one of the LR special edition. If these don't work, I will go that way.
  14. Ah bololocks. Made a decision on them shortly after Christmas (boredom + payday) so we'll see if I come to regret it. £290 from paddocks so not terrible. My current Armstrongs are just unworkable on anything other than smooth roads or off road where it doesn't matter. Any improvement is good. I remember you were impressed with my Gaz shocks a decade ago but I daren't take the chance they could accidentally assemble another good set for the £5.25 they're asking.
  15. I was keeping quiet as there was an outside chance I could have made this but that's now gone. I have a kayak, too. It's my actual hobby...
  16. It's been around for years, it's more prominent in searches than it used to be. I wouldn't click .ru links in general...
  17. Always an option for the cylinders but they have that bright blue dust cover on the rears that wouldn't take paint well.
  18. Thread revival, holy Batman, etc etc. @Nonimouse just wondering why you didn't want B6s? I'm looking to upgrade my shocks as I am tired of the crashy ride, so interested in your experiences. I was going with OME until I read they can be harsh. I just wish either of them came in black...
  19. There's a lot of filler in that car so you have a few things at play - the panels are thicker so don't align flush, then you have whatever distortion from the impact(s) they've taken. Filler doesn't magically un-bend a panel; it's hard to see from the photos but I would expect you have them pinched flush at some points and gappier than a tramp's dentistry in others. That's going to be very difficult to make right. In any case it would need sanding back even if you want to roller/spray-can it. I would investigate the bits that are flaking off (a sign of filler, as is unevenness that looks like bubbles of corrosion which hasn't surfaced) and see how what the panel underneath really looks like. Then you can establish if it's worth the rest of the labour when new panels are available. Due to the time and cost involved, I would definitely see if this is salvagable before undertaking a body swap, and even then you're not guaranteed perfection. Ask me how I know.... What you have is a perfectly functional vehicle, so it really depends how much you care. That's just my opinion so probably do the exact opposite of what I said.
  20. I can never understand how someone can hate money enough to sell a new vehicle within months of buying it. I suppose the fact it's +VAT is a hint as to who/why it was purchased, but even so. Perhaps they just couldn't get on with the footrest. Who knows.
