  1. But then you'll be short a set! In theory I have a set on the 3.5 sat in a barn but that's awaiting autopsy/rebuild at some point. I'll try Western Fixings, they usually know what everything is and have the exact match in stock.
  2. Pretty much confirms that RR cast manifolds and downpipes will always want to go under/through a defender cross member. Bowlocks.
  3. They're very similar but much smaller. I want to get the covers blasted while they're off so I really want to strip anything that may trap and release blasting media with time/vibration. I can probably get them off again but I am not confident they will tightly reattach. I really don't want one unscrewing itself under there.
  4. I'm trying to find replacements for the screws that hold the internal baffles(?) inside the rocker covers. Mine are rounded out and I need to remove the baffles for cleaning. I think there's 8 per side, can't remember. Old photo below with two circled to be clear in what I mean. All Google searches return the 4 bolts that secure them to the heads.
  5. I've found CGI looks like it's getting worse, if anything. I would wish we could watch 2 hours of the stunts and being talked through the technicalities of shooting this stuff than watch one second of the finished F&F trash though.
  6. I very much like that. I think you could build one identically for less than half, though.
  7. I'll be putting MTs on the Volvo at the current rate.
  8. Those are brilliant. There have to be some cosmetically-ruined, mechanically-sound Series cars just begging for that conversion. Still, nothing will ever compete with the understated class of this monstrosity fine example:
  9. Then it's suitably on-theme for the rest of the car. It might seem OTT but I will be going out of my way to attend an event if this car will be there.
  10. That's incredible. If you put that in the hands of some of you guys on here, we'd see a next level of creation/innovation. I genuinely think professional manufactuers would be envious of some of the ideas here. I'd give it a whirl but I don't need all those fancy electronics to know it'll look like my other projects:
  11. I don't know why but I really want this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155519645760 I don't think we'll see many HiCaps in this condition and as standard as this. They're not making any more of them and most have been run into the ground as working vehicles. If it had stayed under 5k (if no one had seen it!) I'd have bought it and worried about where to keep it/what I'd use it for later.
  12. Yes afraid so, but really appreciate the offer. Given how simple it is, I will be able to make something up just by looking at the photo/doing some in-situ messing around. Thanks again, though.
  13. I love this forum. Everything I need is in the few posts above! I can't repair my metal tank so after seeing that a new one is more money that the Allisport version, I went with that. The downside being that it's this TDi style of tank. It looks like I've painted myself into a corner. I can't T-piece into the bottom rad hose as I already have too many bits (fan thermostat and heater/inlet manifold) spliced into that. But maybe I can put a Y-piece into the smaller pipe coming off it. I think it's 16mm, so it's becomming a bit of a mess of different sizes. The unknown is whether that acheives the same result as being directly connected to the bottom hose. Otherwise, I could block off the smaller pipe on the tank and get a 20mm>6mm(?) connection into the top of the radiator but I don't know if that's going to work the same.
  14. I think this issue is common across all dealerships. Many years ago I made the mistake of walking into a Mercedes dealership after phoning ahead about a car. The difference between first setting foot in the place to when they realised I was the "serious" buyer who had phoned was hilarious, the only reason I could think of was being aged under 30 at the time. I had come from work so was dressed appropriately.. I had already decided at that point I wouldn't be buying anything, but I can be extremely petty and had time to waste. I took an hour to look around a car and take it for a test drive, during which the saleswoman was all "premium, high-end, prestige" this and "luxury, affluent demographic, upper middle class design language" that. I got bored, informed them their plastics were no better than that of a VAG product and the engine would be better at home in some kind of agricultural vehicle and left. I was then treated like actual royalty at a Jaguar dealer. It just shows how inconsistent your experience can be from one dealership to the next, never mind across brands. This could not be more true, and they will look you in the eye and tell you why their current products are superior, having given the exact same line in the last place. Even after being greeted by name after they recognise you and know you've already had "the talk". It's barking. The one thing we can be certain of is that this JLR rebranding won't fix the problem, it's industry-wide.
  15. Would anyone be willing to measure the length of the pipe from the radiator to the smaller (front) inlet on the 200/300 TDi expansion tanks? I could also really use photos/measurements of the bracket that supports it on the inner wheel arch and how it bolts up at each end. Better yet - but a complete longshot - it would be great if someone would be willing to lend me a bracket so I can copy it to make my own. I'd pay all costs, of course. Just not willing to pay the £50 the usual retailers want. I don't suppose anyone knows the internal diameter of the lower pipe that comes off the tank and what, if anything, would happen if it was blocked off and only the smaller one used?
  16. That's not really what I'm saying but having just re-read my post, I understand why you think that. I meant that most new cars are now out of reach for most people without finance, which is sort of scandalous for something which is a basic essential of modern life. I'm categorically not saying there's anything wrong with people who responsibly finance such a huge purchase. Selling cars at 100k+ doesn't help, though. My judgement is on the kind of gimps who try to lord it over others with their (bank's) new car.
  17. I've felt that way about cars for a while now. It seems impossible to buy and own your vehicle from new, the best most of us can do is get something 5+ years old without the bank owning it for you. I know a lot of people are quite happy living this way if it means they can drive a symbol of how well they're doing. The irony that they can't actually afford it seems lost though. I look forward to the traditional Jaguar depreciation making any future cars infinitely affordable after only a few weeks.
  18. Are we not meant to moan on here? That's exclusively what I use the forum for....
  19. This is one of the few times I'm going to (partially) disagree with you. I'm probably more "into" Jags than I am LR, especially with the recent tribulations of my 90, I just like to keep things separate. In fact, this is my first time without a Jag in over 10 years. This forum/culture is completely at odds with the Jag one, which may lead to the impression it's just another car brand unless you look into it. I can assure you is just as big as the LR following and just as passionate. The owners do have a different mindset entirely to maintenance and the like, which I don't always agree with. Jag has a lot of history and has achieved some truly amazing things for what resources the company has historically had to work with. The Tata investment was a leap forward and led to it's best products yet, but disinterest/confusion from management and a market that moved away entirely from the large, powerful saloons that Jag's brand revolves around has led to stagnation in the last few years. My money was on Jag being shelved as a brand that is no longer producing the models the current trend is after (the F Pace and I Pace aside). Land Rover seems like exactly the direction things are heading and hybridisation/electrification would have future proofed it. It is a brand synonymous with the type of product it's creating, in the same way everything's a Jeep and anything that sucks is a Hoover. Or also a Jeep ... I am very surprised they've gone this way, but then I know nothing about the industry. Along with the need to refer to models without putting "the" in front of it.
  20. Was it the Toyos that were found to be either really noisy or had incredibly stiff sidewalls? How are you finding them? You photo makes me reget not buying a 110 DC as the coolest LR ever made.
