  1. The heater box is bigger it's air blending for driver and passenger so a bit more involved. You will need everything that scrapper's dash has in front, behind and at the sides so the best of luck.
  2. Depending what disco u have the wiring may be there. This was taken from your link, "Open the hood and look behind the headlights and you will find the wires with the plug ends that attach to the plugs on the fog lamps and feed them down to be attached to the fog lamps". The plugs will be white.
  3. Only on a petrol disco and it only cuts the supply to the fuel pump, but with all disco's (D1 & 2) there's is a inertia sensor within the alarm ECU which will unlock locked doors (if locked) and activate the hazard flashers.
  4. So was I mate, so read my original post again which I do say my info is based price lists on the 5 seat 2002 and a 2004 models only and not post 02's which would be a 2003 model which was on sale in 2002 same as my disco on sale in 1996 although a 1997 model.
  5. This diagram may help although it's not a Land Rover drawing Land Rover is a 4 wire system so if u have an actuator with a fifth wire thats an after market unit the fifth wire being a conrtol wire fron an alarm unit. If you are still having probs why don't u repair the old actuator it's not working because the small motor inside has seized. You can split the case and remove the old hardend grease that surrounds the motors drive spindle and drive cog and re-lubricate with a dab of grease and WD40 to get the drive spindle spinning again,or drill a small hole in the case and inject some WD40 that may work or may not in getting the motor spinning again
  6. It's built into the PCB of the alarm/CL unit. I don't know what it would like but it would be a peizo device to detect the shock and a processor chip to iron out any false shocks fitted somewhere on the PC board.
  7. I did mine only because that's what is recomendeI I have never done it before, front or rear. Even through my rrc days I never did and as I said I didn't need to this time, but worth a check may be, may depend on the type use the brakes get hard braking dayin dayout then may be, other than that
  8. The main difference is the headlamp style.
  9. ACE was a £945 option on the seven seater GS although standard on the five seater.
  10. Correct! but only on the seven seat GS. SLS was a £450 option for the five seat.
  11. Although my discs are standard I don't have any probs with the EBC Ultimax pads I fitted four months ago. I also replaced the pins and anti-rattle springs I didn't need to but I did as they were only £3, the pads were around £20 delivered and I think they are better than the genuine ones that they replaced as they do grab.I used Mintex once and they only lasted 8k miles so I went back genuine pads but now it's EBC. So did you replace the pins and springs? also you may have the wrong pads.

    rad hoses

According to what I have read in the forums the answer is Yes...that if you hose is hard, you may/will find more info if you search via google
  13. Replacing balljoints is easy after you get the threads turning I did two of mine on the n/s recently use OEM parts from a supplier on ebay they matched the original joints exactly, after i had done the job i then found this link on how to do it. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f41/drag-link-ball-joint-renewal-82152.html On the n/s, the track rod is RH and the drag link is LH on o/s both are RH.
  14. I have never told the insurance companies in the past that a modification has been made to the vehicles engine (cam and head changes, exhaust etc). Fortunatly I have never had that questioned, but if I was in a major accident who knows. Luckly my diso doesn't need any mods so no worries now.
  15. With that type of use standard but with gas will do, keep away from the comp stuff (Bilstein although they do a model called Black for normal road use) as you will find the ride hard on a standard disco. I had Monroe gas years ago on my RRC so when the disco ones need replacing I will go for these. http://www.monroe.com/products/gasmagnum.asp
  16. i must go to specsavers as I can't see how the link explains the difference, any way the following is taken from LR's price lists. Persuit SL suspension yes, GS no Persuit ACE no, GS yes Persuit c/control no, GS yes (option diesel) Thats about it different trim, radio and wheels but they were still 16inch. I have only taken my info from the price lists of the time 2002 and 2004 but the Persuit is a bit basic not a lot of options availble unlike the Landmark both newer models than the GS, but the GS still had a big option list SLS was an option. Price, GS 5 seat £27295 Persuit 5 seat £25995
  17. May be because tom tom are a best seller, but if you read the reviews on sat navs you wouldn't buy one they all have pros & cons, even built-in sat navs fitted to the expensive cars have problems as shown on TV Top Gear. Just bit like mobile phones don't read the reviews
  18. Lucky you, in my parts book the rear uj's are RTC4587 but then numbers can change. RTC3458 is correct for the front. There will be no problems in doing just one uj, but as you have the prop removed and have the time go for it and replace both, I would. All uj's for the D1 have grease nipples.
  19. I've seen this mentioned in other forums and by all accounts it's a Td5 thing and it happends. If your running a V8 they don't surge so u have a problem somewhere.
  20. It's funny how a sat-nav will make some people do things. How does it do that?
  21. They will be good also as the use Navtec or Navteq software
  22. The map software is the important and the best is Navtec used by Navman same software that the British Army use, Forget all the girly stuff, mp3, photos, where an I, voices, thats a Tom Tom. The mapping is the important thing.
  23. Are you sure it's the socket and not an iffy plug.
  24. Have you tried lubrcating the locks, are the door pins rising fully or are they droping back slightly when you unlock. The CL actuators can be ajusted on their mounts but you will have to remove the door card to do that. I haven't a clue on parts you require, if any as we don't know what's wrong.
  25. Re-adjust your pre-amplified output (preout) lower on your new head unit if it has that facility, that will reduce the volume.
